I appreciate the video. I had no idea how the drive system worked and watching your video gave me the knowledge to look "under the hood"...or in this case, under the battery. On mine, the belt hadn't failed, it had just come off the pulley that's directly under the seat. I put it back as intended and the tractor works like a charm again. Thanks again!
Are the drive belt and the mower deck belts the same? That part number is the one I ordered for the mower deck and it was the right one. But you say it is for cat drive. So they are the same?
@@mike7204 On mine, you push in your brake pedal (The pedal on the left) and then pull up the red lever on the side of the dashboard with the big "P" on it and then take your foot off the brake pedal. That also works if you want to get off the machine without turning off the engine.
Much easier way to do this, take out the battery box, and remove belt from trans pully drop front part of the deck only. Jack up front of mower and pull off the pto clutch, remove belt from around clutch, and pull out the belt, which took me 5 mins.
Hey thanks for the video. A family member of mine asked me to look at her PP19A42. Apparently the drive belt keeps slipping off. She hired a guy to replace it and I think all he did was put a new belt on. No mention of checking pulleys or anything else. I've never done a job like this before, any ideas what I could check?
So check to make sure the tensioners are working and are pulling the belt tight (when the brake is not on the belt should be tight). Those would be the ones that aren't fixed but have a spring attached. make sure that where the belt goes around the pulleys there are the tabs that are supposed to keep the belt on when it is loose. When you put the parking brake on the belt will loosen up, if the tabs aren't there the belt could fall off. Make sure it is the right size belt that was replaced. Make sure all the pulleys spin free with the belt off. Make sure the keepers are on up by the engine pulley. That would be a start,

I put a snowblower that belongs on a John Deere garden tractor from the 80s that weighs half of the weight of the tractor. In order to do that holes were drilled through the frame. It has 45 pound weights on each back tire, plus ag tires, plus chains, plus 80 pund concrete block on back. This has led to cvt belt stretch, so new ones on order. It's been a great tractor. It's one of the rules I follow, buy the standard version, no electric PTO, no complex charging system, no hydrostat to break no stupid activate as you lower mtd system. I don't like the plastic gearbox, but thankfully they do sell new cvt pulleys and belts which will wear out eventually; for me they will wear faster. I've asked way more of it then it was ever intended to do. As a result when a customer brings there new Cub cadet for the 2nd time in 6 months for me to fix and tell me what I recommend, I simply recommend husquavarna.
There's a way to set the key so it doesn't shut down. Rotate the key 1 step counterclockwise and it'll keep running when you put it into reverse with the blades engaged.
I think on mine, I'll use a chain hoist to stand it straight up so I don't have to lay on the ground. That is after I pull the deck out from under it. Thanks for the video!

If your talking about the spring on the end of the cable, the little bracket gets bolted down, after you hook the spring back, if you can see where the hole is for the little bracket go across from that on the deck. On the rear left/left side of the right side pulley there's a black bracket with a hole, it's sometimes a pain to get the spring back on so do the spring first then put the bolt in the bracket.

Next time, set your parking brake. It will release the tension on the belt and you can just slide it right off.

Poulan lists replacement as 96.5. Nowhere close to getting this stupid belt on. I cannot fathom why lawnmower makers actively make things so hard.

It shuts off for safety reasons. Some mowers do that others don't.

You use an impact gun and it should just come right off.
I likely used an impact. It can be held from the top by removing the cover and putting a ratchet on the top flywheel nut to hold it.
