Great playing! This is a strong offering from Boss. I have the NUX might plug pro and I have to say it's a great practicing to small gigs tool (output to a "boombox" for basking anyone?). Main differences are: nux 7 presets vs katana 30. Nux Pros: * Nux has a much more flexible effect chain, more amps/fx/IRs. * Nux has 19 or so slots for your own IRs. * It has similar Session functionality (automatic preset switching, only local mp3 files, no youtube), it's a bit expanded because you can have multiple setlist on the NUX. So you can have a setlists of 10+ songs, all queued with automatic switching. * Nux many usb settings, to reamp, record dry out, live stream :-0 ???? Nux cons: * I had to use a 3rd party app to take advantage of all the NUX features, * clean sounding amps need some work. * exchanging tones is a bit clunky Katana Pros: * The katana clean sound sounds really good off the bat (in the youtube demos) * stage feel sounds really cool as well (in the youtube demos) * Boss approved footswitch that connects directly to the plug. With the Nux the footswitch connects to the phone, not the plug, so you need to keep the phone open with the app in the foreground for the footswitch to work. * tone exchange (Coming soon June 2024) Katana Cons: * In order to load a youtube video in the session list you need to copy and paste the url from the browser to the app. No biggie I don't have one so I can't speak about what parts of it don't work as advertised. I think with slightly less features it's going to be more likely to have less opportunity for things to not work as you'd think. They both are banging products for as long as the phone apps work. I don't think you can go wrong with either one

I have one of the original Katana 50 watt amps. Love it. This is great they use the same presets. I'm not allowed to bring the 50 to the living room this Katana Go my gain entry.
From Guitar World magazine: "Not only does the Mustang Micro Plus look to elevate Fender's own headphone amp range, it also seems to be a response of sorts to Boss, which recently entered the market with its own screen-equipped, app-compatible, highly rated Katana:GO amp. However, as per a statement from Boss, the Katana:GO has already been discontinued after only two months of production due to difficulties in “the procurement situation of the materials”. Such parts shortages don't seem to be an issue for Fender, though, which will no doubt look to capitalize on the current lack of competition as it rolls out its own updated offering."
Bought a Mustang Micro at launch and still love it. The only thing that puts me off the Katana is the app, pretty much abandoned my Spark as I just couldn't be bothered. That said, I will buy one of these along with the Line 6 Pod Express because I don't have enough gear already 😂 Seriously though, I'm sold on the tones, and at the price, I need one. IF ONLY GEAR THIS GOOD WAS AROUND WHEN I WAS A KID lol 😂
I hit the play button on this video with the usual giddy anticipation that has become the norm for viewing Andertons releases. However, nothing could have prepared me for the life lesson on amorous ostriches!
Got mine yesterday. This is one of those products where somebody finally got everything right. Including the price. There is nothing I wish it would do that it doesn’t. Pair it with your phone, and you not only control it with the app, it will play back audio to the device over Bluetooth for playing along with tracks. It has Bluetooth audio and MIDI. It functions as an audio interface to record the output with your DAW. This is the perfect modern practice amp. The only thing I can say negative about it is that unless there’s something I haven’t figured out, “stage feel” is underwhelming. The available reverbs are much better. The presets are also slightly mediocre, and if you edit your own preset, it can sound much better. But the quality of the modeling is as good as any, and the tiny size is right. The minimum you need is the device and headphones, and you are practicing anywhere, walking around freely. Add the phone, and you get editing and backing tracks. Plug into your computer, and you’re recording. I’m not someone who’s willing to trade a tube amp for modeling, and I have a M/B MarkVII for when I want to get serious. But this is the convenience factor and price I needed as a compliment. Cannot complain. I think this thing is going to sell huge. This is the ideal thing for a beginner who’s learning, or a pro who wants to practice conveniently.
So - to clarify - to play like Pete, all I need to do is part with just £100 and I'm sorted? Great - just wanted to clarify :))) Great playing, as always, and once again entertaining just listening into you 2 as you demo gear.
Bluetooth just can't handle realtime audio, so there would be too much latency for bluetooth headphones. For backing tracks the latency doesn't matter and videos have lag compensation, which is used to sync the video and the audio.
@@andertons might also be true that bluetooth cant send and receive bluetooth audio at the same time. I can't think of any device that supports that, so there are multiple disadvantages with bluetooth format
@@cirisirpula152 no problems sending and receiving, bluetooth headsets provide that with microphone and earphones - your original explaination is spot on though
Anderton's charged £10 delivery to my part of the UK so sadly I ordered elsewhere as it was only 1.50 delivery from another company, hopefully in future they can get more realistic delivery costs!
My TH-cam has exploded Boss have jumped on the band wagon at the wrong point. They needed to step in at the next gen with Bluetooth and preset editing Mustang and Nux especially already doing this in the space. The embargo lift sent my TH-cam notifications mental lol
As much as people sometimes hate using apps, I think Fender really significantly limited the mustang micro by not having one for a headphone amp specifically to me. Not only is it nice to have an optional way to do a LOT more with your tone and FX. On top of that with how MASSIVELY variable the sound signature is of different sets of headphones or speakers you might plug this into, you really need to be able to have more fine control of even just your EQ than Fender gives you with just a few EQ presets. I've used the Nux headphone amp, and you can set up a sound that is great on one set of headphones, but when you then use that same sound on different headphones or speakers can sound absolutely terrible and you need to adjust it to be usable. With the Fender, you're stuck with what they give you so your option would be just to either play a bad sound, buy new headphones and hope your options sound good through those, or buy an EQ pedal to plug it into and bring that with you everywhere haha.
I specifically told myself that if this is under 200 bucks I’ll get it. Guess I have to get it. 😂 but I’ve been looking for something like this but other ones haven’t appealed to me that much. This one looks dope!
Just absolutely mind blowing Lee! As far as electric guitar? I'm a Fractal dude, but... I've got a Dean Markley Pro Mag pickup permanently wired into my beater Fender acoustic, and for open mic night or busking gigs? I don't rather fancy lugging a $2,000 FM3 around to get potentially get mugged or have it damaged. I've previously been using just an Orange OMEC Teleport w/ BiasFX mobile, but this Katana Go? Most definitely looks like a brilliant all around cheap as chips solution! Thanks Lee! Also, tell Pete that he's far too attractive for your TH-cam channel! 🙃😉😘✌ ROTFLMAO! Cheers guys!
I hate how everything has to have a companion app now, in order to reach it's full features and potential. It just doesn't seem travel friendly. I went with the Vox Brian May headphone amp and loving it. It's cheap but does everything I want
This seems really cool. Headphone playing is most of what I do though an AmPlug Clean. Trick is once you add in the foot pedal you're now up in amongst the Valeton range. Given that wires are involved in both, I am wondering which would suit me better. It would almost be easier if the pedal wasn't an option!
So I love these things. I have the blackstar fly2, I've tried the mini mustang, the classic rock vox, and most recently the Flamma FX10. They're all great. This one looks pretty good, but for my own use, I dont want a companion app and I dont want to haul around a footswitch. The best one I've found for literally a standalone headphone amp experince is the Flamma FX10. Great sounds and effects, plus some pretty decent drum loops. They've come out with an upgraded version with more of everything, but it requires a companion app to access a little less than half of them. No thanks, but if youre into that sort of thing, give it a whirl.

I’ve used BOSS/Roland gear all my life.
My Tone Studio has so many amps I’ve added to use with this!
And, I'll wait for the Version 2 with all the bugs fixed and extra features 😁
I hit the play button on this video with the usual giddy anticipation that has become the norm for viewing Andertons releases. However, nothing could have prepared me for the life lesson on amorous ostriches!
Great solo Pete!!!
BOSS is the boss...again!
So - to clarify - to play like Pete, all I need to do is part with just £100 and I'm sorted? Great - just wanted to clarify :))) Great playing, as always, and once again entertaining just listening into you 2 as you demo gear.
100% thats all you need to do :)
"Are you OK?" laffffffoutLOUDDDDD
That was a f@cking spectacular Honore intro.
the best intro of andertons so relaxing
Bluetooth just can't handle realtime audio, so there would be too much latency for bluetooth headphones. For backing tracks the latency doesn't matter and videos have lag compensation, which is used to sync the video and the audio.
Good explanation!! Cheers for that - pretty sure the Boss guys said the same thing, but in technical language that we didn't understand :)
My TH-cam has exploded
Boss have jumped on the band wagon at the wrong point. They needed to step in at the next gen with Bluetooth and preset editing
Mustang and Nux especially already doing this in the space.
The embargo lift sent my TH-cam notifications mental lol
The Waza Air already does all that. Has done for years.
(And this does have preset-editing).
Yeah, this does feel five years too late - it's a crowded market and the Katana name alone doesn't do enough to stand out.
Apparently it's been discontinued due to chip shortages. Having bought one they had better keep supporting the product.
I’ve got the Mustang Micro from Fender and I love it. My family too 😂
It's awesome. The Bluetooth feature is what sold me on it initially.
Really amazed at how good this sounds! For £100?!?!
I want this badly
That backing track is fire.
Superb sound really impressed. Great playing as well👌
Can you use this excellent Boss Katana product as a recording interface?
Great playing as always Pete 🙏
Yes - via the USB C output
Thank you 🙏
Just absolutely mind blowing Lee!
🙃😉😘✌
ROTFLMAO!
Cheers guys!
WOW 😍, That’s an awesome piece of kit!
Pete that solo was so good 16:07
I love my NUX model. But this thing here? Damn. Then again; IT’S BOSS! Shouldn’t be surprised! Gotta get one!!😌🎶🎸🔥👍🏾
An awesome tool! Thanks for demoing it.
I wonder if there's a metronome built in? If yes, the unit is really well rounded for practice. If not, it's a shame) Love stuff from Boss
So I have a Mustang micro that I use daily, and I love it, but this looks like a massive step up. I definitely am gonna have to get one now.
