    well done but, its normal to smoke the b16a2 cause you have some how the same wheel hp and maybe you have more torque,value for money mods but a b16a2 with same mods such as itr head package cam/springs/etc ported polished,65mm throttle body,skunk2 manifold dc 4-1 header and tuned on p30 would easily make 185+hp and you could see it only with glasses

      @@hondafanaticonly Wow that is fantastic, if you are a Honda lover you need at least three vehicles so when two of them die you still have one you can drive. Honda the rust buckets of the 80s. Most of them were rusting on the boat over to the U.S. before they hired idiots from the south to slap the piles together for the U.S. market. In 84 or 85 the majority of the Hondas fell apart after 60 thousand miles. You name the part and it died on the P.O.S. I had the misfortune to own. HONDA=PURE CRAP !

      The numbers in Honda engines means the volume… d16 & b16 are both 1.6L…. the k20 is 2.0L, etc.

      SOHC can be just as good as DOHC if you get a cam with the right LSA and then tune it correctly. No point in having DOHC if you're not running adjustable cam gears, widening the LSA and tuning (i-vtec with cam phasing is another story... that really is great technology). That's the only benefit of having DOHC... you can adjust the LSA with cam gears. SOHC cam lobes are both fixed on the same shaft so you'll need to replace it or regrind it to adjust the LSA. As far as intake flow, a decent aftermarket plenum from Skunk2 or a Y8 plenum, a little port and polish... it's breathing real nice.
      The only gripe I have about the D series is the weak cranks. They'll break with enough boost. I broke a ZC crank on only 12psi. I can't guarantee it was the boost that did it, but it happened again with a Z6 some time later.

      @@juansolo1617 The D series was never meant to be as fast as the B series. The smaller bore and bigger stroke are the cause of smaller valves and higher piston speeds which is a bad combination for high revs or power. Also its got Vtec only on the intake valves and that horrible drop in rpm @ 3rd gear... Most decently built D16s make around 140 whp, where a b16 can go 160 whp with just CTR pistons and exhaust.
      I love both engines, but the B has a clearly better design for motorsports.

D16 and b16 have totally different bore and stroke, the valve size is most important and inlet port is different, vtec is only on the intake side in D16, so no, it cant rev as high and it cant have the same torque and HP unless you put a serious amount of money in it. I had a B16a1 with minor mods and it was about 185HP and to get that in d16 you need an all motor

      Good cam and better springs will get you a safe 7.8-8K rev range on a boosted setup. The D series is slept on. Good ol H1C or HX35 Holset turbo on these goes a long way for the money you put in it.

    A B16 has only 10 more hp than a d16z6. So a well built d16 can take a b16. With the right bolt ons and tune. I would love a dohc for my 93 d15 Del Sol. But then I would have to change everything. A D16 will work with my current bolt ons exhaust, headers and air intake, and also my current transmission and wire harness. It's a great lower cost alternative to a b16. Especially since I would not have to change my tranny and the use the same motor mounts. With a good cam, maybe an skunk 2 air intake manifold and throttlebody, Hondata it and premium fueland my current bolt ons. I might be able to squeeze maybe 200hp maybe a little more. Which is fine for for this little car. Keep posting those videos. Trying to get money together to buy a rebuilt d16z6. Make sure if you get a D16z6 that your Vtec selenoid is not leaking and works properly.

    when deciding to swap b16 or build my a6 in my crx i went with the a6 purely because it weighs 100lbs less and the crx already has shitty weight distribution, and i drive around corners as well as straight lines:) 100lbs on the nose of this car would just exaggerate the snap oversteer

    Haha, I'd take it and probably win! But my B16 isn't NA. That is a mean NA D series motor though. What's the compression at? I looked at your parts. 160 whp out of a NA D is a lot. 175 is about the most I've heard of. So congrats. You're one of the fastest NA SOHCs around.

    1.5 block with a 1.6 v-tech head and it'll come alive. its that simple and cheap if your doing a single cam

    If that b16a2 motor hasn't been touched for 20 years it has like 130 hp max, and z6 has been built no wonder it gets him. I think a refreshed b16a2 gets him with its true 160 hp

    Hey Tong. Great z6. I'd like your input. I just assembled an NA z6 build. I'm using 75.5mm P29 pistons (29.5mm comp height), Bisimoto level 2 camshaft, ported/polished y8 IM to 60mm with 60mm B18 TB. The block was resurfaced at 0.004" as was the head. Compression calculations are around 12.8:1. My calculations show that the PTD height will be around 0.004" in the hole. I'm certain that I shouldn't have any issues with interference when the VTEC profile is engaged. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

    Are you people serious? A d16y8 has a longer stroke than a y8, a b18c is just a b18b with a Vtec head, d16z and b16a are the same minus 1 cam etc etc. How about no. Difference between a B16 v d16 are night and day, they do not even share the same bore/stroke, a B18b LS has almost nothing in common with a b18c, they have different blocks, rods, crank journals etc. As for d16z6 vs y8, they have different oil pumps, crank is slightly different and the head chambers are different offering slightly more compression and a more aggressive cam over the z6 but the Bore x stroke is identical.

    I have a d15b 3-Stage vtec on my eg with chipped ecu (p28). No other mods but exhaust and i was able to beat other b series and an h22 prelude. Check my vids.
    The point is, just bc d series are weak, they can compete with b series without being "heavily modded" bc mines isn't. Its power and weight ratio!

    Unless the b16 has nitrous or an upgraded valvetrain or boost the gsr transmission is worthless. A b16 with a gsr transmission combination even with basic bolt ons and a tune and even with your car gutted is disappointing.

      Felix Vieyra if you run 11.1 to 1 you will defenatly need skunk2 cams , , intake mani , tb , and a 3" Cai with a Velocity stack , you need your car to breath freely , might as well do the 11.1 to 1 with ls rods !

    I never understood the appeal of the DOHC B series engines. My stock D16Z6 keeps right up with most B16's and will beat B18's, H22's and H23's all day long. I'd rather have the lighter, more efficient D engine but that's just me.

      I couldn't help but comment here. No. You're wrong. You're comparing apples to oranges here.
      Yes, the D series is an inferior engine compared to the B series.
      It matters marginally that the *Bone Stock* B series didnt win against the *Built* D series. That's a handicap match. On top the B had a gsr trans which is geared taller than the original B16 trans. Not sure what buddy was thinking there, but he would of had a better chance if he had the 16 trans.
      Now, an even match would be, *both built*. Then, all arguments are valid.

      Don't use d15 or d16a use a full d16z6 , z6 has higher redline then d16y8 , z6 block is stronger than y8 or d16a. But the y8 cylinder head is better than the z6 by a little , also use a p28 ecu that'll make the response better , wasn't t trying to be disrespectful btw
