Yay for you listening to the studio version. The live performance in Montreal is usually a reactor's first listen (it is incredible) but this showcases Queen's masterful harmonies and the melody really shines.! (It also reminds us older Queen fans how we first heard any song of that time, "I heard it on my RADIO!". Check out the live version, you won't be disappointed. Thanks.
I love this song but if you havn't already, you need to also check out the live at Montreal 1981 performance of this song, it is outstanding. My very favorite live performance by Queen is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. It is unbelievable that it is live. Every band member brought it all for that performance, you will definitely like it, particularly the long instrumental portion. The three singers in this band are Freddie Mercury (Piano), Brian May (Guitar) and Roger Taylor (Drums). John Deacon (Bass) didn't like to sing so it is rare for him to join in. Thank you for your reaction.
Thanks, Kev! This is gorgeous.. takin' us to church, right? (Freddie was inspired by Aretha F. when he wrote this.. Brian, Roger & Fred did those vocals, but this is in studio) Everyone will tell you to listen to the live version from 1981 Montreal... the thing about Queen is they were often better live than even in their amazing studio tracks... appreciate your reaction..
TY!!! So many love Queen. RIP Freddie, the greatest. Brian May-guitar, great vocals, Roger Taylor-Drums, great falsetto vocals, John Deacon, bassist supreme, … songs: Those on the Mike are all the band members, including Freddie Mercury, the lead vocalist. I WANT IT ALL, WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER, LOVE OF MY LIFE, IN GHE LAP OF THE GODS and also LAP OF THE GODS (revisited), WHITE QUEEN, MARCH OFTHE BLACK QUEEN, KILLER QUEEN, ONE VISION, ITS A KIND OF MAGIC, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, WE WILL ROCK YOU, ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST…whoa, the list goes on.
Lead singer freddie mercury lead guitar brian may bass John deacon drums Roger Taylor. One of the many unique things about queen is they can all sing and they all wrote songs. EACH ONE WAS A MASTER AT THEIR CRAFT. R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
Like the commenter said you need to do Somebody to Love live at Montreal 1981. It is different and fantastic. Queen’s live performances are epic and are different than studio versions and differ from concert to concert. Check out White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Now I’m Here, Under Pressure, Love of my Life live at Wembley 1986. Tie Your Mother Down live July 12th Wembley. Dragon Attack, Keep Yourself Alive, Another One Bites the Dust and Save Me live at Montreal. That should keep you busy. More to come. You need to start a Queen playlist because we have an extensive catalog to get thru lol.
Queen was such a creative band everything they did broke all boundaries. Keep going down the queen rabbit hole your just getting started exploring the queen universe. It like a black hole they just keep going with no end in sight and it just keeps getting better and better. They are true legends
HEY KEVIN!! Thanks so much for this reaction... this was the song that introduced me to Queen... I was in love with them for forever... Another awesome masterpiece is "The Prophet's Song", which is Brian's answer to Freddie's "Bohemian Rhapsody"... and just as spectacular... blessings.
I know you watched this before the live performance but it’s fun to see how they worked on making the studio version. Yes their harmonies are fabulous. They had three types of voices that melded perfectly together.
The three on the mic are Freddie, Brian, and Roger! And you're hearing a 165 piece choir effect they did by doing 55 individual takes for each line! And yes... That WAS Freddie!!!!!!!!!! You might like fat bottomed girls! And you should listen to under pressure! You're going to think someone else did it (vanilla ice), but it was theirs first! And actually, pretty nearly ANY Queen song you hear is going to do this to you!
So, as others have mentioned, this song live in Montreal 1981 is perfection. I also suggest you react to another one bites the dust live in Montreal 1981 and then the official video.
Such a fantastic song! You need to do a reaction to somebody to love live montreal 1981! Very different experience lice and is one of their best live performances of all time by far! Who will get hyped watching it! 👍🤘👌🤣😎🔥💯
Love queen thankyou . They are mesmerising especially the GREATEST OF ALL TIME FREDDIE MERCURY RIP ❤️❤️❤️. The other band members are Brian , John and Roger . They are absolutely exceptional. 👑👑👑👑👑❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Once you 'Get' Queen...They become part of your soul and mental wallpaper. Although now in this 21st century there is so much mystique surrounding Queen, and particularly Freddie's legendary status...We who were privileged to see Queen perform live, knew instinctively that we were witnessing inimitable greatness. I was so very fortunate to attend several of their concerts in different parts of the world in the mid 80's...This band were the perfect storm, and Freddie was the God with pockets full of fairy dust, who ensured each and every ticket holder experienced the absolute time of their lives. Dear Freddie showed us inside his heart...and we will love him forever for it.❤
The very high voice you can hear is the drummer, Roger Taylor. The band were known for their complex layered harmonies. As others have said, the live version of this in Montreal shows how truly fantastic the band were live as well as in the studio. The live arrangement had to be different because the harmonies couldn't be duplicated onstage. It's different but just as wonderful. I love both versions equally!
Sounds like you want to know more about the band. First of all, Freddie always said he was 25% of the band. It took all of them to be the great band they were. Freddie Mercury is the lead vocalist, composer and plays piano and occasional guitar. He has a 4 octave vocal range. He has a diploma in graphic design and created the band’s logo. He is considered arguably the best frontman of all time. Dr. Sir Brian May is the guitarist, composer and vocalist. He also plays piano and harp. He has a Ph D in Astrophysics and has an IQ of 180. He worked on projects for NASA. Brian was knighted 2 years ago. He made the guitar he plays with his father when he was 16 out of things they had around the house. He hand carved the neck from a 100 year old fireplace mantle, used an oak table for the body and used bike parts and his mother’s knitting needle for the tremolo bar. It is called the Red Special and has a unique sound all it’s own. Brian still uses the Red Special today. Roger Taylor is the drummer and composer and also plays guitar and keyboards. He went to school to be a Dentist and got bored so he got a degree in Biology. He has a 3 1/2 octave range and a very high falsetto which earned him the nickname, the dog whistle. John Deacon is the bassist, composer and also plays double bass, piano and drums. He got a First Class Honours degree in Electronics Engineering. He also oversaw the group’s finances. He made an amp called the Deacy Amp from items he found in the trash and a speaker cabinet. He used it for a while and gave it to Brian to use. Brian can make his guitar sound like orchestral instruments using it. Brian has tried to have another one made but no one has been able to duplicate it’s sound. All members of the band have written number 1 hits and all have been inducted into the songwriters hall of fame, a feat very few bands have accomplished. Each member is considered by many to be at the top of the list for playing their respective instruments. They were together for over 20 years until Freddie passed away in 1991. They were together longer than any of their marriages.
A couple of corrections. They are the only band with all members writing number 1 hits. John is still married to his first wife. Otherwise you covered it. 🎉
Keep in mind, everyone who knows Queen heard them on the radio/lps first. Many, many fans never saw them live. Even these live performance videos are mostly widely available since TH-cam. I’ve been a super fan since the 70s but only saw them in concert twice. The studio versions are not to be ignored. 😊
Great reaction! Save me live Montreal... Liar, Stone Cold Crazy Live at the Rainbow..too many to list....the list is a large one!! Following to go with ya on this journey! 🙂
From left to right, Roger Taylor the drummer, Dr. Sir Brian May guitarist and Freddie Mercury lead vocalist and piano. Later in the video John Deacon the bassist will be on the left. Roger’s voice can get really high. They call him the dog whistle. Listen to In the Lap of the Gods live at Rainbow.
Freddie had a 4 octave range. His voice was studied by experts after his death and they determined that no one else has ever had his range. They also determined it was because of the 4 extra incisors he had and if he would have had them removed his range would have changed. The closest singer currently is Adam Lambert with a 3.5 octive range.
Another song with lush harmonies like this is Who Wants to Live Forever. Both the official studio version and the live videos of this song will levitate you.
Freddie Mercury=vocals, keys, & writer of somebody to love Roger Taylor/Blondie=vocals, drums (his range is actually above Freddie’s) John Deacon=bass & vocals (when there are 4 guys on the mic towards the end to add a lower range/tone) Brian May=vocals & guitar From beginning to end, these 4 gentlemen made this and each and every one of their songs! They all wrote top hits, they all play multiple instruments, John’s talent with electronics made both their base music and their live music stand apart! Brian build his guitar 🎸 and John made the amps him and Brian used and no one has been able to replicate them. Roger remade his kit I don’t know how many time over there year always coming up with sounds. Freddie is just Freddie! He could play a crowd like no-one else!
The blonde is Roger Taylor - drums. The tall guy with curly dark hair is Brian May - lead guitar The shy one is John Deacon - bass The lead singer who is playing piano and is so amazing is the legendary Freddie Mercury
Queen are Freddie Mercury lead singer diploma in Graphic Arts and Design, Sir Dr Brian May lead guitar & vocals PHD in Astrophysics, Roger Taylor drums & vocals Degree in Biology after changing from Dentistry, John Deacon First Class Honours Degree in Electronics, all are multi instrumentalists, all inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Songwriters Hall of Fame all have wrote number one hits & there you have Queen one AMAZING band love them ❤ x
I just found your reactions , glad you have found Queen and Pink Floyd , now try Dire Straits Alchemy concert live-Sultans of Swing. Its phenomenal!!! Ps you are doing good 👍🔥
Queen is the best... Freddie is a gift from above, taken away too soon. The live version of Somebody To Love, from Montreal, is ACTUALLY better than this! ALL their live performances, IMO, are better than the studio versions!

LIVE IN MONTREAL. Best version.
Yes, watch this, live in zmontreal 1981.
Queens live performances are the best to watch
You have to hear this live,no autotune. It will sound different but great. Now you see why they were around for 20 years till Freddie died.
Love❤ loved your reaction to this masterpiece RIP Freddie. Jump down the rabbit hole, you’ll be so grateful just like us.❤

Should definitely check out their 1982 great live concert at Milton Keynes Bowl 👍

They all said it was like being married except they had more people to fight with.
A couple of corrections. They are the only band with all members writing number 1 hits. John is still married to his first wife. Otherwise you covered it. 🎉
@ yeah John is still with his only wife but they got married after Queen formed so I think that is what they mean.
Amoo! Nueva seguidora, expectante a que sigas explorando a la mejor banda, y obvio que a nuestro amado Freddie ❤
Pure Music so good....
Now do it LIVE…… bet you thought it couldn’t get any better 😂😂🥰❤️
You definitely need to check out the live version of this song from 1981 in Montreal. In my opinion, it is the best version of this song ❤
