I second that. If you liked this song then you MUST check out the live version from Montreal. Freddie takes it to a new level. It's over the top and you will absolutely be blown away. Literally!
I love it when people misuse the word 'literally'. If you listen to this song you will explode and cease to exist! I am being a dick but the live Montreal version is ace.... Good call.
@@mooghead It's way too geeky to be so literal about my use of the word literally. I didn't mean she would actually cease to exist after listening to the performance. I meant that she would be blown to another realm of perception. She will still exist, just transformed. Literally!
Yes, the live version 1981 at Montreal is the thing to add now....:-) pure talents on stage live and you can experience even more the incredible voice of the lead singer Freddie Mercury.
Please, continue with Queen ❤. I recommend: Save Me (live, Montreal 81), Don't Stop Me Now (official video) .... And if you take clips from Queen Official Channel don't worry, they won't be blocked because Queen wants their music to live and reach the young generation as you are ... 🥰
Queen and Freddie Mercury (lead singer) are the best of the best. Thank you!!! Please do more--we all love them and ALL their songs, which are many, over a 20 year period. RIP Freddie, we miss your!!! ❤
21 years old...I'm 66 next and first saw QUEEN live in 1978,it gladdens my heart that the younger generations are discovering their music .Keep going down the Queen rabbithole, you will not be disappointed..A couple of suggestions "don't stop me now ' and "One Vision"❤
65 and QUEEN has been my #1 BAND since their first Album came out, have them All and saw them Live in Toronto, Canada in August 1980, Best Live Band EVER
BTW… Queen is the ONLY band where each of the members are individually inducted into the Hall of Fame, for having written at least one hit/Number One song.
Queen is the only band for which all members wrote at least one number one *for their band*. Only the Beatles have all been inducted as both band members and individual artists, and every one of them had at lest one number one hit. Ringo didn't have a number one until the post-Beatles period, so he never had a number one *with the Beatles*.
I have always loved this version with all those delicious harmonies but the live version in Montreal 1981 is also awesome. Freddie singing live is something to behold which you haven't experienced yet! I honestly don't know which one I prefer. The live version makes you appreciate the different arrangement of the song to suit the stage show and really highlights what good musicians they all are individually and collectively. Such a tight band with such a vast and varied repertoire.
I don't know why but every time I watch this video, it hits me like a ton of bricks that the weird, goofy looking guitarist rockstar is now an astrophysicist...and from what I've seen he's seems like one of the nicest people on earth. It's just the contrast of him being immortalized with the music he was involved in creating, and the almost polar opposite of being involved in serious academic achievements...Brian May shows that you never have to be compartmentalized into one thing.
No auto tune. Freddie Mercury had a golden voice. Queen was unique in that they could sing and were experimental in their music. Deep dive this band and you will hear all kinds of musical influences and masterpieces! ❤
Prayers to Brian Mays, guitar. He suffered a stroke 2 days ago. Don't go yet! So few left from my memories growing up in 70s. So glad you discovered master artists.
I am the first to comment! So exciting! I recently discovered your channel and became a subscriber. An official boomer at 61 years of age, it is an amazing experience to share in young music lovers discovering the greatest artists in the genre. Kudos to you, Rere, for launching onto this journey with an open mind and heart. IMO, one does not have to love (or even like) every genre, song, or artist to appreciate the talent. Plus, it is wise to explore the music of the past if for no other reason than to comprehend the evolution of music. Knowledge is always a good thing! "Somebody to Love" is a wonderful song by one of the best rock bands to ever exist. This one was written by Freddie Mercury (the lead singer and pianist) after being inspired by gospel music and specifically the great Aretha Franklin. ALL the members of Queen are exceptional, but Freddie Mercury (RIP) was incomparable as a singer, songwriter, and undisputed greatest frontman ever. I believe Queen remains the only band where all four of the members wrote #1 hits. I may be the first to comment, but will not be the only one to STRONGLY recommend following this reaction with the live performance of "Somebody to Love" from 1981 in Montreal. Seriously, that performance is considered amongst the top 10 live performances ever by any band, topped only by Queen's performance at Live Aid in 1985. The latter is a must see as well. Carry on in your quest!
Try Queens: My Melancholy Blues, live at Hammersmith the song White Queen, live at Hyde Park Freddie singing his song You Take My Breath Away, live in Budapest: Who Wants To Live Forever, One Year Of Love, Spread Your Wings, Millionaire Waltz, so many songs! 200!!!
Queen ❤ Freddie Mercury diploma in Graphic Arts and Design lead singer, Sir Dr Brian May PHD in Astrophysics lead guitar, Roger Taylor Degree in Biology after changing from Dentistry drums, John Deacon First Class Honours degree in Electronics bass guitar, all inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Songwriters Hall of Fame, all wrote number one hits, all multi instrumentalists there you have Queen my favourite band love them ❤❤
Lead singer Freddie mercury is considered by many to be the best male vocalist of all time, but i would go one further and say hes the best vocalist of all time. The crazy thing is he never had any formal voice training. He spent a little time in the school choir as a kid, but apart from that he was 100% self taught, im sure its the same with his piano skills as well, but dont quote me on that one. The rest of the band is amazing as well, the drummer probably could of been the lead singer for just about every other band in the world apart from queen. All of them are quality musicians, also my prayers go out to guitarist Brian May, who apparently took a bad turn a few days ago 🙏.
The guitar Brian May plays in this video is "The Red Special". Him and his father built that guitar from scratch in the garage when he was 16 or 17. Now Brian May is an astrophysicist. And Freddie Mercury - best male vocalist of our time - there's No discussion!
Aww I’m so glad you reacted to probably the most talented flamboyant band ever, The lead guitarist Brian May with the legendary red guitar 🎸 actually hand made his guitar with his father from an old wooden fireplace, Queen all the members were phenomenal musicians and each band member has written a N01 hit, Freddie Mercury the lead singer is known as the best singer and frontman of a band, Queens greatest hits album is still today the best selling album in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧,Queen have performed over 700 live concerts all over the world and were one of the first bands to conquer South America, all the band members attended university and they all have degrees, Freddie Mercury has a degree in arts and design and created the bands logo, John Deacon bass guitar has a degree with honours in Electronics, Roger Taylor drummer has a degree in biology, Brian May lead guitarist is a Sir and has a degree in astrophysics and astronomy, I actually attended many Queen live concerts in the day,as you loved this performance checkout Queens live performance of Somebody To Love in live in Montreal in 1981, the performance is considered to be the best live performance of a band ever, also Queens 20 minutes performance at LiveAid is legendary they stole the show from any other band on the day, Freddie had the crowd in the palm of his hand, great reaction thanks 🙏
If there is one song you need to review live - THIS IS THE ONE - watch the Montreal version - and you will see the real talent of Freddie Mercury and the rest of the band.
The members of the band queen went to different colleges. Brian May the lead guitarist attended London Imperial College and got a degree in astrophysics. He utilized his astrophysics knowledge to create many of the different sounds in Queen’s songs. Roger Taylor went to school for dentistry. John Deacon, the bassist, went to college for electronics. Freddy Mercury, of course the lead singer and who plays multiple instruments moved with his family from India to London in 1964, where he attended the Ealing College of Art.
Many fans might think it a sacrilege, but I encourage you to listen to a cover of this song. Jordan Smith on the voice. Very well could be the best performance by anybody ever on that show.
I came to say the same thing everyone else is saying. Watch Somebody to Love live at Montreal 1981. Truly spectacular. Queen has a very strong fan base. You’ll start learning more about Queen if you continue looking into their music. Also…their performance at Live Aid is historical. This is a very talented group. RIP Freddie ❤
Another great song. That crescendo near the end which builds from nothing reminds me of Flash, which is another great Queen song, and another movie track. Relatable? Of course! And yes, the harmonies they created were sublime. And they were all great musicians.
Love this video so much, just really good stuff. BUT you really need now to see the live in Montreal 1981 clip of this song here on YT. You will really enjoy it. Queen live was really something to behold. And you should also soon treat yourself to a movie night with your brother to watch the 2019 film Bohemian Rhapsody which is about Queen. They were the real deal for sure. Thanks for sharing this one.
Queen! What fun! The operatic strand of 70s music. The decade went wildly and creatively in every possible direction, including opera! Fun! Go Freddie!
Welcome to the world of Queen, really enjoyed your review, you will soon be how brilliant they are. Try Somebody to Love and Save Me live from Montreal 81 all in glorious HD, they will blow your mind. Watch your subscriptions shoot up, Queen fans are very loyal. I was lucky enough to see them live 3 times, the first time was for my 13th birthday Elland Rd Leeds 82, then Manchester & Knebworth 86 which was their last ever concert together
I can't wait for her to watch Freddie at Live Aid = do their whole set! I hope you check out Little River Band from Australia as well. Great harmonies - up there with Bee Gee's, Eagles, Queen etc. #itsalongwayhome
Queen was my very first concert back in 1977! Pure joy! It would be difficult to find a song/performance to top this one, but I think I can come very close with 2 performances from QUEEN! The first is a song from the same album as "Somebody To Love", and it's from the 1976 LIVE performance at Hyde Park of "You Take My Breath Away". The second is the performance of "White Queen" (LIVE at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975). ☮
Dang! Might repeat as it seems my comment disappeared?? Oh well! On the Goo Goo Dolls video I asked if you were Irish? Never mind 😊 Video #3 as I go through your Channoe! 😉 Where would this Whurrowed 🌎 be without this music 🎼🎶 Great Reaction! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Queen is very elaborate in the studio and their versions are often quite different from the live versions - - because they improvise and there is no nonsense equipment - only voices and instruments - no enhancements - did not exist - - and wasn't needed - only 4 very gifted musicians, composers, songwriters - they all wrote no. 1 hits - were all inducted in songwriters hall of fame - you just embarked on a long journey . I like your reactions - you do not disturb the music -😄😄🥰. promise to listen to Montreal version - and while you "are there" I can recommend "Save me" by Brian May - the guitarist.
Queen is a unique band from the 70's. When you are ready to move on with the 70's a few of the many should include, Baby Come Back by Player, Jackie Blue by Ozark Mountain Daredevils, She's Gone by Hall &Oats, Fooled Around and Fell in Love by Elvin Bishop. Have fun!
One of the great songs of all time. As wonderful as the album version is, everyone saying the Live 81 Montreal version is even better, they are not wrong. Hope you see, or have seen it soon.
Funny thing, when Queen first came out, even after the success of thier first two LP's, the critics panned them and claimed they wouldn't last..shows what they knew. Good summation...with all the over the top PC nowadays, I don't know how you young folk find a lifetime lover, but everyone still wants one. And Queen didn't sing about it in a whiny way like all the other songs about the same subject. ..They used passion and power.
React to the live performance in Montreal, and I almost guarantee you'll get even more hits. The live performance is really amazing. You might also react to the Queen Live Aid performance, which is absolutely legendary live performance.
Thanks - Queen is awesome... and as you've noticed Freddie a great vocalist... (they took us to church on this one-lol) as others have said... check this out LIVE! appreciate your reaction!
Queen were Freddie Mercury (Lead Vocals), Brian May (Lead Guitar and Vocals), John Deacon (Bass Guitar and Vocals) and Roger Taylor (Drums and Vocals). Queen as they were performed from 1970-1991, sadly Freddie Died from Pneumonia resulting from AIDS aged just 45 years old. I suggest you watch some of their live performances as they are one of the bands that are better live than in the studio. May I also suggest that you react to the Finnish band Nightwish and their Dutch singer Floor Jansen. Nightwish are what is called Symphonic Metal and were one of the first in the genre where they do metal style music with a full orchestra backing (they use the London Philomonic Orchestra amongst others). Maybe start with where most reactors start, which is Ghost Love Score Live at Wacken 2013 (if I can I will link it at the bottom). I think you will enjoy it.
They really are amazing aren't they? Each of them are so talented and brought out the best in each other. Freddie Mercury was absolutely the greatest front man ever. You'll enjoy diving into their extensive music collection.
Hi Rere, That was the late, great, Freddie Mercury on vocals, Doing the harmonies were guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor, and bassist John Deacon 😀😀🎸🎸 Sadly Freddie Mercury passed away on November 24th 1991 aged 45 from AIDS 🙏🙏 Roger Taylor and Brian May still tour today as Queen, Roger is now 75 and Brian is now 77 😀😀 RIP Freddie 🙏🙏
Live aid queen is awesome my wife was there with her brother in Philadelphia she says is was her concert ever mine was in 1975 seeing Elvis at the Providence civic center i listen to Angelina Jordan the next greatest singer check her out she has over 200 covers and originals wild bill
Queen is such an outstanding band and as good as they are on studio recordings, they are far better live. I am so glad you appreciated this song, it is a masterpiece written by Freddie Mercury (lead singer) as a nod to Aretha Franklin's style of singing and writeing. He truly admired her and always wanted to record something with her or at least sing live with her but they never did.
I love your reactions already. I heard this when it first came out in 1976 I was 25 so I feel you. Queen was so different we were amazed. You expressions say it all. Carry on! Back when every band or artist wanted to sound completely different from everyone else. Real instruments, real musicians, real singers, every person in the band was equally important!
Grew up with all the greatest bands of all time Queen is one of them!!! Please do so Rush, in my opinion the greatest band of all time lyrically and musically, all 3 are virtuosos on their instruments, that's right only 3 of them and all that music!!! Try Tom Sawyer video, red barchette 8q live Xanadu live 81,YYZ live in Rio,,try early stuff Anthem, bytor and the snow dog, lakeside park Bastele day ,2112 whole first side, there's an animation video helps explain the story,,hemispheres whole fist died A Farwell to Kings whole album ,spirit of radio, freewill, nature science, witch hunt ,vital signs, big money, far cry half the world, cut to the chase, stick it out ,mission, marathon, I could go on and on ,any Rush is good Rush I think you'll see and hear there greatness musical geniuses, prog rock ,but much different level than Queen, Rush on!!! May the Rush be with you ,always lol they were together for over 40 years only 2nd to ,Beatles and Rolling Stones for most consecutive platinum selling albums!!!! Moving pictures 4times platinum!!!
Best frontman in best band ever! Freddie wasn't a rock star, he was a legend. You need to listen to the duets Freddie Mercury and operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé, specially Barcelona and The Golden Boy.
The band Queen Freddie Mercury. Lead Vocals/ Keys John Deacon. Bass / background vocals Brian May. Guitar/ background-lead vocals Roger Taylor Drums / background- lead vocals
Great reaction, it was my first watching this as well!!! Thank you!!! You should react to Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" Live Concert, I thought it was a great live performance!
🎼🩶 .. Hi .. this is my favorite song , of any genre , of any era , of any band .. any vocalists , seriously my all time favorite song. They are Queen .. the singer , Freddie Mercury, is considered the best front men of all time. I like many different types of music .. but this is the "good stuff". 🩶🎼
now that youve Heard the studio version you really need to react to the live version from Montreal filmed in 1981 you will be blown away trust me its epic
I second that. If you liked this song then you MUST check out the live version from Montreal. Freddie takes it to a new level. It's over the top and you will absolutely be blown away. Literally!
I agree. The live Montreal version of this is, in my opinion, maybe the best performance of any rock song.
i agree
I love it when people misuse the word 'literally'. If you listen to this song you will explode and cease to exist! I am being a dick but the live Montreal version is ace.... Good call.
@@mooghead It's way too geeky to be so literal about my use of the word literally. I didn't mean she would actually cease to exist after listening to the performance. I meant that she would be blown to another realm of perception. She will still exist, just transformed. Literally!

BTW… Queen is the ONLY band where each of the members are individually inducted into the Hall of Fame, for having written at least one hit/Number One song.

Yep, the live in Montreal version next, and then George Micheals version at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
If a song speaks to you the music has done its job well
Hi from Spain. You must react to this song live! "Montreal 1981" and the song "White Queen", live at the Hammersmit Odeon, 1975". Great performance!
Queen is one of the best ever......Freddy is missed so much

The lead singer of Queen is named Freddie Mercury and he passed away several years ago from complications from HIV
Montreal Live is unbelievable. It will amaze you. Then , Milton Keynes is even better. Freddie sings in in a blues style.
Milton Keynes is a wildcard concert, different, fiery spirit.
I want it all. My favourite.

You need to listen to this song live at Wimbley
React to the live performance in Montreal, and I almost guarantee you'll get even more hits. The live performance is really amazing. You might also react to the Queen Live Aid performance, which is absolutely legendary live performance.
Thanks - Queen is awesome... and as you've noticed Freddie a great vocalist... (they took us to church on this one-lol) as others have said... check this out LIVE! appreciate your reaction!
If you haven’t watched it yet, you should check out the movie. Ella enchanted because the song is in that movie. Also, it’s wonderful.

Have subbed saw your Bohemian Rhapsody reaction .Keep it up with Queen they never disappoint.

You need to check out the live version. 1981 in Montreal. Much better!!!
They really are amazing aren't they? Each of them are so talented and brought out the best in each other. Freddie Mercury was absolutely the greatest front man ever. You'll enjoy diving into their extensive music collection.
that guy could really sing...no doubt
Hi Rere, That was the late, great, Freddie Mercury on vocals, Doing the harmonies were guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor, and bassist John Deacon 😀😀🎸🎸
Sadly Freddie Mercury passed away on November 24th 1991 aged 45 from AIDS 🙏🙏
Roger Taylor and Brian May still tour today as Queen, Roger is now 75 and Brian is now 77 😀😀
RIP Freddie 🙏🙏
Journey - Don't Stop Believin' (Live 1981: Escape Tour - 2022 HD Remaster). Since you asked for something on this level.
That whole 1981 Journey live in Houston concert was incredible!
Oh you must "MUST" watch and react to the live Montreal 1981 version its 100 times better than this studio version, a real must.
Live aid queen is awesome my wife was there with her brother in Philadelphia she says is was her concert ever mine was in 1975 seeing Elvis at the Providence civic center i listen to Angelina Jordan the next greatest singer check her out she has over 200 covers and originals wild bill
Best all round singer ever
Reaction Queen Love of My Life at wembley 1986 pliss 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Best frontman in best band ever! Freddie wasn't a rock star, he was a legend. You need to listen to the duets Freddie Mercury and operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé, specially Barcelona and The Golden Boy.
❤❤❤❤❤
This is one the greatest songs of all time
Queen in live is the best. You really should watch the recommendation of the live performances.
The band Queen
Freddie Mercury. Lead Vocals/ Keys

React To "Barcelona" Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe
Live in Montreal!
Now 'that' is the reason I commented 'MORE QUEEN!' 👑🔥😅 I think Dragon Attack is a good track to continue this journey. 🐉
now that youve Heard the studio version you really need to react to the live version from Montreal filmed in 1981 you will be blown away trust me its epic
I will reiterate what other people are saying. Definitely check out Somebody To Love live at Montreal 1981. You won’t be sorry
Great song loved your reaction. Keep digging there is so much out there to hear. Jane by Jefferson Starship should be one to checkout.
React to Marvin Gayes' "Trouble Man" extended version!!! It is EVERYTHING!!!
It’s time to listen to journey….you will love them…try their escape tour from 1981
Try rock in rio blues live for the full range of Freddies voice
Freddy was holding back on the studio version. You should see them live. These men were perfection.
