Very trippy

trenchant observation
The song was recorded with no intention of being released due to copyright, by chance it was leaked to Jacksons management that played him the song, Michael loved it and agreed they could release it and then they filmed the video
😮
i was wondering how could this be aired cause copyright. If Michael agreed did everyone need to make a formal approval with everyone signing?
@Jordan Spencer most likely
I came here after hearing Michael’s interview where he mentioned this. Was scrolling through comments to see if anyone knew about it .. what was I even thinking; MJ fans literally know everything concerning him. It’s amazing.
@Jordan Spencer shut up hater.
I used to have neighbors whose kid would blare this multiple times per week. Little bastard got me hooked...

I’m proud of that bastard!
We need to make dad bands a thing again.

How is this a dad band, Singer was 23 when this was recorded?
true,all the Kids today don't know that this the real shit
The kid in the mask is his son
He was 23 hardly a dad band
That bass lick during “Annie are you ok” is wonderful. That earthy 6 string sound is amazing.
I used to play this on a 5 sstring. It's quick but the octavess and contrast are the point. It punchess nicely.
Cool bassline, but the 6 string is unnecessary lol.
@@dabmandou1296 did you want him to switch to a 4-string bass he doesn't normally use just because this particular song doesn't use all 6 strings? such a weird criticism
@@saltysumo7991 considering alien ant farm was a one or two hit wonder, one of which being a Michael Jackson cover(lol) I doubt this particular bassist is playing much of anything these days! Carry on 😃✌️

Facts. Reminds me of the 2002 reboot of the twilight zone lol
it might be released in 2000s, but this whole thing smacks of the late 90s trends and outfits.
It specifically reminds me of the summer of 2001. I was a 13-year-old skateboarder back then (I'm 31 now), and I went to a skate demo at a local skate part, where Eric Koston signed my Eric Koston 2s (those were the skate shoes I wore at that time). Good memories!
@@jackwest3282 Note the T-shirt over the button-up on the guitarist.
Reminds me the *All Star* music video.
This music video with the song captures the early 2000's very well. This is actually how it felt.
Such a vibe, love it
I was in high school from '99-'03, it was a pretty fun time to be alive.
Holy shit bro you're one million percent right!
I love stuff like this. I was barely an adolescent and it’s hard to explain, but you’re right. This music video and song just captures the early 2000s.
My early 2000's was at a parents suburban house when they were on away (in Scotland we call it an empty) this song playing on the kind of cable/satellite TV channel nobody watches now, alcohol with some shitty mixer, feeling badass in my new expensive as hell, baggy as hell skater jeans with boarder shoes, even though I didn't skateboard, somebody in the garden shed with some hashish, and an underlying conviction that this kind of music and style was going to take over the world forever, this was music now and clothes now... and that would never change!
September 2024?

Yep still here
This is one of the best covers to ever exist. EVER.
And the best thing about it is that it's an atrocious cover
@@nidhalbt no
True story: It wasn't meant to be released. It got sent to Michael Jackson and he legit loved it so much he allowed them to release it. Jackson was notorious for being very protective of copyrights. So the guy complaining in the comments literally disagrees with the creator lol.
Really??? To each their own but it’s pretty obviously awful to the point where it’s hilarious to me.

Peak for music
The 90s were bomb too. It started going downhill after the financial collapse in 2008
@EmperorOfFresno - I was born in '85 and i've always said there was something magical from 1999-2002. I would discover 2-3 amazing bands every week in those few years and I never dreamed how depressing pop culture would become after that. Movies, music, video games, sports, comics, toys, and society in general all went straight down.
With this song I feel like American teenager 90's skater 😅
The kid dancing alone with his face mask was ahead of its time.
The Mandela effect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@Gynkys foreshadowing is what they call it LOL (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
thats creepy that you said that because I was thinking the same exact thing
The fact that they not only did the full song itself, but both parodied and kept faith to Michael's style while pointing out they're nowhere near as smooth a mover as him and they mocked themselves in their janky dances - while giving winks nods and clues to the style of showmanship that Michael did - is my absolute favourite part of all this, there's no part thats not done with love and humour at the same time.
They were genuine fans of the King, and it shows.
They made new refren and smuggling Annie Oakley in to ;)
THE BASSIST IS THE ONE SHOUTING "WOO!" in the words of Troy Barns, THIS IS WRINKLING MY BRAIN
All that and it's in the minority of covers that are better than the original, IMO. I think I like the faster tempo more.
its just a song. Not a document. lol

I'm always fairly critical of a cover but there are some great ones and this is right up at the top;
- AAA cover of MJ's Smooth Criminal
- Manson's cover of Eurythmics Sweet Dreams
- Sisters of Mercy cover of Bob Dylan's Knockin' on Heavens Door (I don't find the GNR version to be great).
