It's not a grunge MJ cover. Grunge is alt rock music from the late 80s and 90s. This came out in the 2000s. That would make it post-grunge if it had the grunge sound but it doesn't. This sounds nothing like grunge bands Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc. Wikipedia says it's nu-metal. Sounds like alt rock to me.

Nerd, U2, Foo Fighters, No Doubt, Green Day, Rage Against the Machines, KMK! That festival every year changed my life
There is a Eminem tour DVD I have from his tour with D12 in Europe including Amsterdam! That would be the best review video of clips from that. It has proof and Eminem having a blast all kinds of stuff

The kid wearing a facemask was an homage to Michael.
I read somewhere that this kid showed up on set and showed his dancing skills and the band was blown away. But since the kid was underage, his parents didn't want his identity known... hence the face mask. They agreed to that and let the kid show the world how to break it down.
Mike loved this version, sang background vocals, and changed his live show to this version.
The backing vocals aren't MJ but one of the band members.
