    Thanks for this clear explanation. My husband had double aortic arch discovered by CT scan at age 67. He was asymptomatic but needed aortic valve replacement due to aortic stenosis, just 2 valve flaps, hence the CT scan. The stenosis gave him increasing exhaustion. Double arch, aortic valve replacement and ascending aorta Dacron graft all operated on at same time. He was a long time on bypass leading to acute necrotizing pancreatitis which delayed his recovery. Today he is well but exocrine function of pancreas has stopped, endocrine function as normal for now.
    My thanks and admiration to all you pediatric and adult cardiac surgeons.

    I am the 12th baby nationally to have undergone this as an open surgery, on 6/26/93.
