Gorgeous result! I must say I was confused AF about the construction of the bust cups though. I sew bras, which don't involve multiple layers, and definitely nothing as frustrating as lamé. So this is to be understood as information for the curious, and not remotely a criticism because I don't know if standard bra-making techniques -could- work with these materials. Bras are constructed with 1/4" seams. This is how you can put together two opposing curves, without needing to clip. We're also using low "no" stretch fabric, which frays very minimally. Instead of binding the bottom of the cup (interesting solution considering the materials), the cup would be inserted into the band/bodice, with 1/4" seams. Then the underwire casing is sewn along the stitch line that seams the cup and band together, so that it can be turned towards the band and sewn down, encasing the seam and raw edges; same as sewing a boning casing over the seams of a corset. I like the use of rigilene boning. Not having straps it's a solid solution. I use it as a strip of boning behind the breast, towards the underarm to provide extra support for larger busts and prevent the band from rolling. Bonus fact: If you dislike underwire because it's uncomfortable, it's almost definitely because it's the wrong one for your body. There are -many- sizes, shapes and lengths of underwire - but only some of them are used commonly in commercial bra making. When underwire is the right one to fit you, it really does provide great support and you won't notice it. It's not that there is underwire, it's that mass manufacturing has limitations. Thank you so much for showing in so much detail how you went about this. Figuring out how and why it's different than what I do, was really useful to me in building a better understanding of the methods and applications of them. I used a similar method (leaving the pieces oversized) while doing a lace overlayer awhile ago, but based on what you're saying, it seems like where I went wrong was needing bigger stitches basting the layers together. Makes sense now that I hear it. Thank you OG costuber. ; )
Angela, you are continually getting bigger and better. You could open your own fashion house! Another Worth design institution, for historical fashion made relevant updated fashion. Blessing to you and your family for a continued successful year to come.
Thank you so much for making this! It's so freaking adorable! From concept, to design, to construction, it has made my serotonin levels elevate. You've totally created Holiday Cheer and the 1950's vibe all at once. It looks so cute on you, too! *Applause*
Dear TH-cam, This is a GREAT example of when the 'Like' button simply isn't good enough. I'm gonna need a 'Blew My Mind' button, please! The dress is a masterpiece and you are beautiful in it! Merry Christmas, Angela and may your 2022 be EVERYTHING you wish it to be!
I love this so much! Damn Angie, you're a smokin' Christmas tree too! That's usually something we don't want on Christmas, but totally not the case this year!
This was everything I didn’t know I needed this year! I don’t think a more wonderful Christmas dress hath ever been made. Perfection and you look stunning in it. Thank you and Merry Christmas! 🎄🌟
I am digging the gloves and the headpiece -- perfect finishing touches!!! You were right, sleeves would not really have worked, but the gloves are perfect and have the 50s vibe. I want Santa to leave me your talent under my tree!!!
Very campy and so creative! I am currently working on a ruffled, tiered, dress with flutter sleeves. It's for my 3yr old, granddaughter's Christmas photos. Family holiday gatherings have been cancelled again this year in effort to keep elder and young family safe. Thought it would be nice to share photos of her in a holiday dress.
Yes! It fits! It sits! All the things on and about this idea are amazing. The bodice is perfect for such a bold skirt. The simplest seeming things are actually the most important.
I can't wait to show my 11 year that she can make dresses! She will flip she LOVES Christmas and Dresses! Thank you! She loves to draw and design dresses!
i have followed you for several years and have been delighted with ALL your efforts. I must say, tho, you have really outdone yourself with this christmas tree dress. Your design sense is perfect, right down to being able to sit in the dress. Your skill level and creativity is truly at a professional level!!!!
I love all your videos. I watch you often. You have inspired me to start sewing 1940's clothing for MYSELF! I usually sew for other people...but never for myself....and I am going to start making a pair of 1940's sailor pants, peacoat and 40's puffed sleeve top!
The shape is stunning! The bodice may look plain compared to some of your other costumes, but I think it reinforces the wonderful tree shape so well! and with the blonde hair and gold lame, it looks like you're a ball of shining xmas spirit atop the tree. Like a star.
She is incredibly hardworking and dedicated seamstress, most definitely. This is enormous work, to spend many hours for creation of this piece of art to make it able to wear only for a few times, I guess, since you will be not able to wash it due to too many unstable embellishments. I just enjoyed watching the process, it must have a great motivation and talent.
Honestly I never thought a christmas tree dress would look anywhere this good! And I never thought lame fabric would look nice, it’s name is well deserved. 🤣
Been following you since you first started posting all those years ago on your blog and I was a n00b on DeviantArt lol. It just warms my heart to see you go from recreations to exploring fantasy and just seeing all your creativity bloom. I'm just a random internet person, but I got invested in your sewing journey. I love how extra this is LOL and reminded me of a sequel to your fall fairy dress.
I hope you not only use this as a yearly decoration now but also as your actual Christmas tree. I can just imagine you putting this on the dress form every year and putting little presents underneath
You look soooooo glamorous! I know that's weird to say for such an over-the-top dress, but you're definitely giving me 1950s glamour vibes - well done! 🎄
This turned out adorable! I’m going to use it as an inspiration to make a new “Angie Claus” dress for next year. I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas I can’t wait to see all of your artistic masterpieces next year!
WOW! What else could be said but, WOW! That dress is so WOW!. You look like a magnificent Christmas tree. A Christmas parade would be at higher level , having you, in that dress, in it. I can't get over how great it is and fits you so perfectly. You have made so many great costumes, but I think the Christmas tree dress tops them all. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Your New Year is greater, than the inspiration, you give to us all.
Merry Christmas! I sure hope you wear that to your family’s Christmas celebration. I do enjoy your videos and you are a very talented young woman! (I’m glad you showed how to sit in that dress…I was wondering…)
Like I said on your Instagram post about the skirt portion of the dress it makes me think of the Barbie Christmas Carol ghost of Christmas present I think her dress was similar so I am going out for my memory been along time since I’ve seen that version of a Christmas Carol! Merry Christmas Angela!
I love it!!!! Such a fun and demanding project, and you look amazing! I wish you all the best. Glad this project worked out, your projects and vlogs/patreon vlogs are keeping my spirits up. Thank you for all you are and all you are doing.

The bodice ties it all together so well! The ensemble is just stunning and you look incredible in it
Stunning. I nominate TH-cam most Christmas creative award, if there was such a thing. Keep inspiring
Beautiful dress and styling, feels exceptionally festive and I wish I had something so fabulous to wear for Xmas… maybe next year
This has a real Dior New Look vibe. Great job
This is stunning! Have a wonderful christmas!
The sassy side-eye at the end when you say "And of course, you can sit in it" screams "OF COURSE YOU CAN" - it's beautiful!
Gorgeous result!
