As a Porsche 911 convertible owner, I totally agree with what Scotty said about them breaking and costing a fortune! My top has been down for months now, and will until I can get a chance to open it up myself to change out the hydraulic cylinders.
I’ve got a 2002 911 Cabriolet in Indianapolis and it is in great shape…midnight blue, camel leather interior…low miles too, only 21K! However, after sitting unused for awhile, it needed new tires, some replacement parts…and one thing that we can’t fix - the foam coating around the AC pipes has deteriorated so when you run the AC, it blows all kinds of foam into the car. Hoping this problem stops in due course. Unfortunately, the way it is designed, it would cost $10K to take out the pipes and replace the foam! Not gonna do it! Pretty cool Lexus in this video, albeit seems like one of a kind! Thanks for the video, your excitement is entertaining for sure.
@poboymusic1958 You need to get that car out and drive it! My '99 has 145K miles on it - love it! Haven't done the fix on mine yet, but I'm not noticing any loss in ac efficiency, so I'm just leaving it alone for the time being. My 2001 Jeep does the same thing with foam blowing out of the vents!

The heat has caused the sticky stuff to separate from the tape a little, so it doesn't look good. But it does work. LOL
Scotty you gotta stop with the v8 lexus slander and look into the 1uz / 3uz v8 Lexus has, 89-06. It’s one of the best engines ever made. You can speak down on the v8 after 06 but 89-06, it’s literally one of the best ever made. The worst thing about it is changing the starter which is once in every 20 years. It’s a million mile motor. SC GS LS. The 2uz in the LX GX 4Runner tundra sequoia is in the same boat think they stopped production of that in like 09. Really the only heavy expensive maintenance is the 07+ LS
He doesn't "slander" the V8's, but those Lexus V8's are more high tech and complex so they're more expensive to repair when the break (which isn't often but every car wears out at some point.) He advises not to get them if you want cheap repairs. Those LS's with the the V8's are really the only ones that would require a little higher repair bill than the other models.
@scottykilmer have 2014 Lexus is250 F sport - had t replace all 4 (or 6) servo motors for AC inside the dash 18months ago for $1800, then was just told this week, while 110* here in AZ, that it appears 2 may have already been failing and was quoted another $1000, ugh!!!!!! I bought this Lexus (75K miles now) so this crap wouldnt happen, whats happening?
Isn't a Celica the car smart people buy..... Apparently the buyer got a great deal and the seller screwed themselves. I would expect even with depreciation that should still have gotten at least $20-$25k in that condition and today's market. But I guess it's the seller's own fault too because he let it go for $16k. Then again the seller may have been one of those "rich guys" where $20k is like pocket change.
He is a walking contradiction, he has featured an SC 430 with 700,000 miles and definitely said that it was a reliable car, but he reiterated that the maintenance is not cheap, nor are the parts. Of course Toyota V8’s are reliable. The parts can be expensive, my brother has a 1999 Land Cruiser and that thing has 300,000 miles on it and runs great, but when something does go wrong, you can either get an expensive OEM part, or take a gamble with a non-OEM and that has been, a costly gamble.
@@ryanbrandt5404 but what I'm saying is that the motor is exactly the same isn't it, so parts & repair would be equally expensive. He never talks about that when talking about a Tundra or sequoia

3uz's good but I'm sure Scotty thinks interference engines are the devil or something
I am single and I own 11 cars ranging from an Aston Martin convertible to a Nissan hardbody
Single, 10 cars and trucks, 4 trailers, tractor, 4 motorcycles. 1970 Landcruiser to Mercedes Benz 😂😂😂🤷🏻♀️
If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to
Can you please give me a car ? Please
Insurance must be costly
You guys should hook up, like the Brady Bunch... Then you'd have 20 cars, a bunch of trucks and trailers.
STEELERSHIPS LOL LOL but TRUE
@scottykilmer have 2014 Lexus is250 F sport - had t replace all 4 (or 6) servo motors for AC inside the dash 18months ago for $1800, then was just told this week, while 110* here in AZ, that it appears 2 may have already been failing and was quoted another $1000, ugh!!!!!! I bought this Lexus (75K miles now) so this crap wouldnt happen, whats happening?
Scottie is right The Lexus IS is a cheap car. Cheap means of little or no value.
A sports car with a manual transmission means a real sports car.
I miss my 1968 VW bus
How many miles was on that Lexus for $16 Grand !!
Bought it at 86k. Now has 94k ish 👍
Scotty right on time at 0936 for Hawaii to enjoy.
Some call sneaky and cowards as being smart.
350c are s hard to find
25mpg is crap for that
Isn't a Celica the car smart people buy.....
Your analysis is spot on. He bought a Porsche 911 to fix up 👍
"This thing does the same thing as my wife - F all" he didn't say that but would have been funny.
Even the convertible roof is more reliable than German.
The owner definitely looks like one of those types of guys. 🤓🤓🤓
Says not to buy a V8 Lexus, but sings about the Toyota V8 trucks. Aren't they the same motor? 🤔
He explains it, did you listen?
You tow with a truck, so a v8 in that truck is good. You don't tow or plow with a lux sedan, so it is the wrong motor for that car.
@@ryanbrandt5404 but what I'm saying is that the motor is exactly the same isn't it, so parts & repair would be equally expensive. He never talks about that when talking about a Tundra or sequoia

There's more than one model of the same series of engines within the same manufacturer's cylinder count.
I should take you with me when I go car shopping
Tho is my dream car
