Back in the day I bought a BRAND NEW 1988 IROC just like this one - even the same colour. 18 months later I went to a car show and won one of the grand prizes. The prize i got was to rebuild the engine, tranny, suspension, rear end, etc with a NOS kit. The car had Centerline rims that could handle 750 ponies. It was way too much fun. I sold it a number of years later - family on the way. To this day when I see a black IROC all the memories come back. Awesome ride guys!
I hate watching people low ball on a allready low price! This guy is a fool for selling that car that cheap! I would tell him I know you drove a long way but I’m not budging on the price!
Y’all sure bout that mileage? Probably more like 114k or higher. Those old odometers didn’t go past 100K so the would just start over again: nice find!
@@WDDetailing the odometer was evidently changed …all around the gauge is a 1/8 white ring …look at other clusters on irocs they don’t have that…maybe the guy did that to contrast it out and it’s the same original odometer…something to consider… you paid 4300. So it’s not like you paid 27,000…
I had an 1985 IROC-Z black and gold. I loved it when I was 21 years old. I'm loving this video. The interior has been changed. No CD in 85 model (tape player) and newer radio. The gauges are from a newer IROC, 87, 88 or 89 and speedometer for an 305 only went to 85 MPH, the steering wheel is not from an 85 either. This is bringing back some great times behind the wheel of my IROC. I'm older now.., have a 2018 Corvette Z06 that is a beast. Thanks for the vid fellas!
my wife and i had a 1987 IROC, black and gold edition, every available factory option, special ordered with the Corvette 5.7L. it was our pride and joy. the wife and daughter had gone shopping. got home, just pulled in the driveway and stopped so she could check the mailbox. before she could open the door, a 16 y/o girl, on her phone, veered off the road and t-boned the car. the daughter got some bumps and a few decents scratches but overall she was not too bad. wife didn't get any injuries as it was hit on the passenger side. the beautiful screamin' machine sacrificed herself to protect my family and was completely totaled. the girl who hit us had some decently serious injuries but she survived. i remember it like it happened yesterday because i was standing on the front porch and watched it happen. that was the 3rd and last IROC i ever owned.
'87 IROC Z is literally my dream car! I had one in 2004 as a young soldier, multicolor white and rust, but ran solid, and I absolutely loved every drive.
@@ernestsalazar8026 That was only the ones with the 305 crossfire injection and it wasnt louvers, it was a flap at the rear of the hood bulge. IROCs never had functional hood hardware.
I had an '85 Iroc Z-28. Iroc blue with T-tops, louvered hood, 305 v-8 tuned port injection. I loved that car so much. I sold it in 2005 because of financial needs. I wish I could have hung on to it.
Check the RPO codes, make sure it's a real IROC. It's very easy to make a Z28 look like an IROC, especially considering it was repainted and re-stickered, and that might explain why it has the wrong hood on it, even though Z28s also got the louvered hood. The v6/RS hood makes me worry for you - it's very odd why that would of gotten on there. Look at the front cradle, does it have the wonderbar suspension brace as an Iroc should? IIRC, the RPO codes were in the center console glove box on a sticker. Assuming it's even the original center console... Verify the VIN on the sticker matches the one in the door jamb.
Me TOO ... ! BCUS SOO MUCH AND SOO MANY PARTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN CHANGED AND SWAPPED ON THAT CAR ALREADY ... ! HE STILL BOUGHT IT FOR A REASONABLE PRICE ... BUT ... ALSO , THAT ENGINE MIGHT ALSO BE ONLY A 305 TOO ... ? ALOT OF THINGS CHANGED AND SWAPPED ON THAT CAR , ARE SHOWING / SENDING SIGNS OF POSSIBLE DECEPTION. TOO LATE NOW THOUGH ... ANOTHER WELL " USED " USED PERFORMANCE CAR SOLD " AS IS " . AND HE IS NOW " STUCK " WITH IT , AND NOW MUST JUST ACCEPT IT , AND DEAL WITH IT .
I BET THAT CAR WAS ORIGINALLY ONLY AN RS CAMARO WITH ONLY A FACTORY V - 6 OR ONLY 305 V - 8 ENGINE . AND THAT ENGINE IT PRESENTLY HAS MIGHT ONLY BE A 305 V - 8 TOO .
Great find guys and for the price its a really great find. So, I bought my IROC back in 1986, so i'm the original owner. I bought my first 3rd gen in 1982, a white Z28. I'll do my best to give you the right info on the IROC's. First, the engines were all 305's up until 1987 when Chevy started putting the 350's in them. Despite all the rumors and urban legends no 1986 IROC's were sold with the 350 in them.. However, that doesn't mean none were made. Chevy did make 50 IROC's with the L98 350 in 1986 but, these cars were not sold to the public. Some were scrapped BUT an unknown number were given to "special" customers. So yes there are some reeeally rare 1986 350 IROC's out there but I doubt the average is out there selling one. A lot of people have dropped a 350 in their 86 (like me) so you can find those out there. Other things on the IROC's are the tail light covers, which are different then the regular Z28's, and the other options in the IROC package that were mentioned. As far as the hood goes the only difference is the louvers that were on the IROC's as the regular Z28's did not have louvers. However I have met a couple of people who say they ordered louvers for their Z's when they ordered the car from the dealer. I'm guessing that may have been an option you could do. The IROC decal on the door moved to the rear of the door in 1988 and the Z28 decal around the car were changed to IROC-Z decals. So I've only touched on a few of the "bigger" differences on the IROC's. These are certainly not all the differences.
Oh and one more thing. That speedometer IS for that car. I don't know why but Chevy made 3 different speedometers for the IROC's, an 85, a 115 and a 145. I got stuck with an 85 lol.
On the RPO code sheet in the glove box you should find the code B4Z. That will ensure it was a factory IROC-Z. As stated, the RS standard hood is a worry. Plus, I didn't see a third brake light so that tells me it's an 85 and would have come with a 305 Tuned Port if ordered. The engine by looking at the valve covers tells me it's an 86 and earlier block. Run the code off the block to verify it is actually a 350. The seats are from a 4th gen Camaro and the CD could be from a 91 or 92 GM product.
Another tell tale way at first glance is the fact that it says "Tuned Port Injection" on the back bumper and right below the Z28 on the sides. The 350 had a "5.7 Tuned Port Injection" badge on the rear and same for the sticker below Z28 on the sides.
That's rad - great episode. I had an '84 Z28 - loved that car but felt like I grew out of it. Now you just need a PAW 383 stroker kit, a 100hp hit of NOS, and some DOT rubber on the stock rear wheels and then you'll be period correct for a stop light bruiser.
Check to see if the engine is actually a 5.7. The TPI engines came both in 5.0 as well as 5.7 in the Irocs and Pontiac Trans Am GTA . You would know by checking the sticker under the hood. Some of the Irocs also had the badging on the rear bumper that would say "5.7 Tuned Port Injection" instead of just "Tuned Port Injection". Regardless though, these are great modern, American classics.
Man i would love for you to do my grandmas 88 Mustang GT. Its not technically a "Barn Find" its more of a "Driveway Find" been sitting since 2007 when my grandfather passed away
The Z28 IROC Z was a great come back for Chevy so 5.7 Multi-port fuel injection was a big deal, and what you guys just got from the deal is a golden gift! Most people like stick shift, but those over drive tranny‘s are no joke either! My ex-employer brother bought a brand new ‘86 IROC Z In Electric Blue with a Gary interior, he ordered it loaded with a 5.7 L. Auto. 220hp but now the car you guys bought are already head of the game! Stick with it!
1987 was the first production year for the 5.7 liter (350 ci). It was rated at 225 hp. The 87 with the 5.7 had a speedometer that topped out at 145 mph. I had one that was yellow and gold. Miss it everyday.
Buying the car for solely views is just lame just goes to show these guys are not in it for the love and only in it for the money which made me unsubscribe sorry kids no hard feelings good luck with it though
They painted the plate in front of the gauges white. I had an 84 Camaro 5spd back in the 90's and I removed that plate and painted the backside of it orange to match my aftermarket radio display. When the lights were on at night the effect was a smoked orange and matched the radio almost perfectly.
My aunt bought one new in 87, maroon with gold wheels and gold ragtop. She would let me drive it some times in the late 90’s when I was a teenager, I would pick up friends and do burnouts with the top down, really fun car to drive. She still drives it on the regular, one owner car.
My dream barn find is a 1969 Dodge Coronet/Super Bee. My grandpa had one when i was a kid named the green demon. I can still remember to this day the sound of that 440 six-pack with the headers and glass packs screaming up the road.
My dream car!!!! Has been since I was a little girl. My aunt and uncle both had an 80s camaro bought brand new. One black, one white, both have the t-top which I also love. They both still own them, and they are in good running condition, but neither will sell. I'm 33 now and I'm hoping by 40 I will have my own beautiful sexy camaro 😊 great video awesome transformation
@WD: I love the ‘project’ series. Since you seem to prefer the Camaro IROC Z28, I don’t think you paid too much for this car…even considering the potential engine expense. You will receive that back in satisfaction and enjoyment. Wishing your channel continued success!
I remember, years ago, walking to school and passing the car dealership. And therrre they were. GTO’s. Brand spanking new. Like nothing I’d ever seen before. Those were the days.
Favorite car: Mercedes. Boss & I had to get to LA in a hurry. Left at 1 AM, drove 400 miles in a little over 4 hours! What a ride! Love it when you hang rugs on that white wall, pressure washing & all of your friendly banter.
Had the same car but 87’ 305/5speed t tops…black black interior and gold wheels and striping package… the guy I bought it off , took gold door edge protector piping(like 1/4 in size shaped as a “c” and cut each piece to go on the hood louvers it was sized smallest to the widest on top… so all louver vents had gold door piping on them, looked badasswhen I was inside driving it and looking out on hood ..he had it on the doors and around the gas cap door, but I removed them 3 pieces. Left the piping on the hatch where the glass meets the metal that looked badass too… I miss that car so much
The seagulls names should be Gertrude and Heathcliff. Those names are from a skit that red Skelton used to do about two seagulls. Look it up it’s pretty funny 😄
I keep having the same dream over and over of me going into my family's barn and finding my 1983 Pontiac Trans Am that I used to drive to high school back in the eighties. It's covered with dust and has a little bit of rust here and there, but once I put a battery charger on it, she fired right up. Of course, it ran like complete 💩, but what would you expect when it has almost 40 year-old fuel in it? I'd take it out of the barn and go for a spin, which brought back all of those wonderful memories from when I'd roll into my high school's parking lot, all shiny and looking sharp. It was just like I remembered it with the T-tops off and the wind blowing through my sweet mullet. Those were the greatest days of my life, and I would give anything - and I mean anything - to be able to go back and do it all over again.....
I had this car! Loved it! It was the only one in my small hometown . Bose sound system , t tops , black with tan leather and gold bronze z28 graphics. Had to be careful the front airdam would scrap the road turning into Macdonalds which I found out the hard way. Great video!
The wheels were labeled front because the rear wheels are a little bit wider. I know this because I bought an '85 TransAm new in '85 and the first time I went to get the tires rotated, as I was driving out I turned the steering wheel and heard a knocking noise. The wheels were hitting the tie rods. Had them put them back. Mine had a speedometer that only went up to 85mph; that was the last year they had 85mph speedometers in them. Mine also had power windows, power locks, power mirrors, so that was not a rare package at all. My factory sound system didn't have a CD player though; just radio and cassette. They had small 6" subs in the B-pillars that sounded surprisingly good, until they dried out years later and the cones cracked. Mine had the same original 305 the IROC had and mandatory automatic tranny. Only 215HP which is laughable these days, but she was plenty fast enough for me. Mind was maroon with silver/black fade striping at the bottom of the doors, and a silver screaming chicken on the hood. No scoops or louvers on the hood. Chicken cracked badly over the years; I was told it was at least partly my fault because I waxed it when waxing the car. No idea if that was true or not, but when I had to have the car repainted after an accident that luckily wasn't my fault, I opted not to replace the decal.
In 1985 the TPI was only available with a 5.0 liter 305, RPO code is LB9 (look inside the center console for the vehicle RPO sticker). The 5.7 TPI was not available in the Z28/IROC or the Trans Am/ GTA until 1987. RPO code was L98 in the Chevy and B2L in the Pontiac.
I had an 85 IROC that was black with gold wheels and decals. The interior was also gray. The speedo is not correct, therefore the mileage is unknown, definitely not 14k. The seats are incorrect. It should have a low back bucket with separate headrest. This would have originally had a TPI 305 as the TPI wasn’t available until 87. Run the block codes as it could have been 350 swapped as mine was. The louvered hood is correct for an IROC. I do believe the trim around the fog lights isn’t correct for the year, I don’t recall the bow tie, only the camaro text. Still, overall it’s a nice car, good find. 👍
@@billdursa4976 lol dude destroyed the value of the car in numerous ways. Main ways being the fire and odometer swap. Smh. I wouldn’t pay over 2500 for that smh
My 85 IROC was by far the most enjoyable sports car I ever owned, and I have owned a few. The only problem I had was keeping it from being stolen. They tried to get it twice in the first two months. I miss that car. It was fun watching you get this one back on the road. Thanks
Cant find a nicer one 😂. I have a nicer one in my garage for sale right now T-top 87 iroc 2 owner factory 5sp car all original rust free runs and drives and never been on fire. Cant find a nicer one ok 😂😂😂
Reminiscing. I was 23 yrs old when I bought a brand new 1985 twin to this car. Loved it Sooo much. Chick magnet for sure. I did so many donuts in the car and I remember how well it cornered and hugged the ground. Good find Boys. Thanks for posting..
This car is a mess...a complete compilation of parts from other cars. Very little about this car is original. It's obviously not the original odometer and HIGHLY unlikely to be a 14K mile car. The bottom of the car is a rusted mess. All the lines are rusted out. The engine is locked up. You'd be time and money ahead to find one not so molested. No way would I have bought this thing.
I'm going to say 114,000 mile car, engine rebuild 30 over, repainted, different interior, looks like a hack job, money pit piece of junk. I don't think that car would be worth more than $7,000 in that condition if it was the original color, original interior, no rebuild on the engine.
My first car was a 89 Formula Firebird, the interior was flaaaawless but the engine had manafold issues and lifter issues. It was the white top/black bottom. I miss that car every day for 20 years now!
Nice find. Reminds me of my old 82 Z28 i had years ago as a son/ father project. It was an old theft recovery that was found and scrapped cuz the old owners didn't wanna deal with it. The vin was gone but i didn't care, i still gave it a chance. I bought it from my friend who got it from the salvage yard. I slowly fixed it up some but eventually sold it cuz i wasn't making enough to continue with the project. It was white with black on the bottom and blue hounstooth interior, i miss that car
HA! HAhaha! Im a 90s kid. Got license around 1993. IDK, newayz...My first car was a 1986 Z28 right in small town Texas. Everyone I knew just had old pick ups. That Z28 was radical back then!! Something like 280 HP, T-tops! I thought it was the coolest car God ever made. Of course I crashed it and had to put on an after market hood and sprayed the whole thing black. It was a beautiful maroon with gold trim. Joined the Navy in 97 and skip a few years I came home and drove that car back to San Diego. Everybody in SD made fun of me because I still wore cowboy boots and all I heard was "you think your Knight Rider"? Nah, that car was dope and I love my boots!! F your flip-flops! Newayz, turns out i could not register it in Cali for emission reasons. Drove it all the way back home to Texas and sold it. Never to be seen again.. Man do I regret that. Newayz, I've given both my children the charge of they need to get rich and find their daddy another 86 Camaro. This time tho I want the I-rok with the 350 and 5 speed manual! Sorry for long story but hope it was a fun read. Great video guys and awesome find! God Bless your Business!
I bought my 89 iroc, it’s a blue ttop tpi, and a 5 speed. Got it for 2500 bucks about a year ago. It’s not cherry but it’s sought after cause of what’s on it. I still have it. Done a lot of work to it.
Mike 80's cars had many power options but it depended on the Model...The base usually had Nothing.....Usually a pkg option for pwr windows and locks.....you could add on. Now a days you Se Sel Limited and titanium for example very similar. Back then it would be Cutlass Supreme or Supreme Brougham......Brougham had more of the options. Like Power antenna versus the stationary whip antenna!!! Power seats , windows, locks. Many different pkg levels......depending on the one you might not be able to add an option....was kinda crazy. Different dashes analog vs digital. Like the Camaros.... base had less options, RS a bit more and Iroc...many options but still pkgs could give you even more like convenience or power pkg. Especially Mid 80's and beyond.
I had an 1989 iroc z-28 a couple years ago with the 350. It was fast enough. You can figure the miles to be true a couple ways. Steering is one way. It'll be tight and responsive. Look at the pedals. A 100k pedal is pretty flat on grooves. A low k pedal will look like new. Anywhere hands touch . I got $3800 for mine just before COVID. If I didn't have 2 79 montes and a 79 elky I'd of kept it.
What a beautiful car, had a close friend that had one and yes it was red with black lettering and interior. lol One of my favorite hot rods for sure. I want to see this one running so an update would be great. Have a great day
I loved this video, I live in Sweden and have a black, Iroc-Z28, t-top from 1988 with the 350 tpi. I have the blue stripes and silver decals instead of gold. If the car is from 1988 and forward, the door stickers will be placed on the back part of the doors, if its from earlier years the stickers is placed at the front of the doors. The hood on your car is not from an Iroc, but the ”vented” hood you got with the car is for an Iroc. But its not actually vented. It should have been, because the engine gets really hot when you drive slow in the summer. 😅 The engine is big and the car is low, so the heat have a hard time to get out of the engine room. I connected a switch so I can run both the cooling fans permanently, that helps a lot. If you still have the car, comsider to buy the black out kit for the rear lights, it really makes it look bad ass.
Mine was a 1988 iroc z28 but it had a rag top.... 1 of 3600 sent to Stockton California to be made convertible.... TPI, Flowmaster exhuest and a custom spoiler made it one of a kind..... Purchased in 1988 off the showroom of Reedman auto world with 14 miles..... LONG LIVE #ZEEBEST
In 1993 I owned a fully loaded 1991 Teal Green/Grey T-Top V8 Camaro with ground effects and the nice flat 5 spoke wheels not the painted ones. It had engine upgrades from the first owner. She was a rich women that wanted it fast an nice which it was. I really liked that car and regret selling it to this day.
I had an 86 Camaro, blue, with t tops, v 8, I loved it. Similar (not exactly the same) as this car. I wish I still had it. Amazing car. Thanks for reminding me if it! Good memories.
i love irocs,the 350 wasn't available until 1987,so if its an 85,its either a 305 or replaced 350,the interior seats and radio came from a mid 90s camaro,the hood looks like a 92 rs
Seats are newer ones from a 93-96 Camaro. And the 5 speeds of that era came with 305's only, GM claimed the 350 and stick combination was too rowdy for the frames especially with T-tops.
First gen of IROC still had Z28 badging, it had the upgraded motor and suspension. IROC has the 350tpi, IROC was from INTERNATIONAL RACE OF CHAMPIONS car they ran from all the great drivers of that particular year from all motor sports. Vince the name IROC-Z(28)
No way sites like this stage events where cars look just the same - ridiculously dirty. 😂 - They looked for a car like this for 20+ years - were you like 15 back then looking ? My grandpas 50 year old Mercedes in the garage never looked half this dirty .. it was covered with dust not garden dirt You can fool most people most of the time but not all - all of the time .. Guys like this get the perfect chance to showcase their cars that once are cleaned “don’t realize” what a gem they had … right ? Sells an antique car at a ridiculously low price of $4 grand that is worth much more ( more like $20-$25 grand ) The magic formula for websites like this…
I had a 1989 Triple Black Trans AM GT with the factory ordered 5.7 V8 (not the GTA). I never should've sold that car! Now I want a 2002 TA, WS6 so bad!!!! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Wheels had a different back spacing to clear the rear disc brakes. Fun fact those wheels look good on S10 pickup, just flip them and put the backs up front for 4X4.
Generally there were 2 interiors on the Camaros. A base and an upgrade on seats and door cards. My 85 Z28 had 305 with TPI and an automatic. VR rated tires but only an 85 mph speedometer. That was a joke. Had a terrific suspension. Hood had louvers. Power windows and hatch were on the console.
It's TPI or Tuned Port Injection & is the exact mpfi that was on the C4 as well as the 305 that was standard in the 5 spd cars. The 305 cars had an 85mph speedo while the 350 cars had a 115 and later a 145.
I’ve owned four of these beginning in 1986 when I purchased my first one. While this is a cleaner car it is not a 14,000 mile car. A 14k car would be pristine underneath, up top and inside. No chance a 14k car would have aftermarket Accel decals on the rad support either. These cars with low mileage are very special to the iroc community and would have been cared for meticulously. There would not be any crustiness underneath. Those seats are not original, the radio either. The door panels are from a 88 up car but the arm rest rests appear to be correct for an early iroc. Great car just the same as it is a true iroc based on your description of the vin. I’ve got some videos of my black 85 Ls swapped Iroc if you care to see. Enjoy it.
I love this car! She's a beauty, and I think you got a fair deal on her. Can't wait to hear her running. She's gonna be fun to drive! Make sure to get those tailpipes off the bumper, It'd suck to burn the paint off and scorch/melt it! You got a new sub with this one! Excited to see the finished restore!
I think this could be the start to a new chapter for yall. Build a garage of barn finds that didn’t have the owners to get them right. Essentially you’ll have what looks like tavarish’s garage but 20~+ years older, and equally as cool.
The reason the rims are stamped front and rear is because the original tires were directional so you couldn’t do a traditional tire rotation. I had purchased a brand new irocz in 1987.
What is your dream barn find for us to post someday on this channel? 👀
Maybe a Hummer H2 / H3 😮😮😮
Would love to find a Delorian DMC-12
1970 Monte carlo ss
Jaguar E-Type
Frank’s mom’s name would شفلوحة and his sister شندوخة, even if you’ve never been equipped to pronounce them 😂😂
Back in the day I bought a BRAND NEW 1988 IROC just like this one - even the same colour.
"you ain't gonna find a nicer one" LOL this guy is out of his mind
Right lmaoo smokin crackkk
Whenever someone says that it usually means the exact opposite.

Y’all sure bout that mileage? Probably more like 114k or higher. Those old odometers didn’t go past 100K so the would just start over again: nice find!
Thats correct, its not fourteen thousand! ive worked with used cars, especially camaro!
Yea with that dirty engine and insulation damage and saturation of grime, it’s more like 114k.
That’s why if u love iroc and don’t trust people find a last year built 1990 new dash in 90’ with airbag and guages and the odometer is a 6 digit…,
Just going based on what we were told!

Gauges and others things being changed tells me the mileage is probably unknown. Definitely not 14k.
My 86 IROC has the 305 & 140MPH Speedo from the factory
Would have loved to see the OG Red/Gold combo.
5 speed ! Had one I high school red n gold
my wife and i had a 1987 IROC, black and gold edition, every available factory option, special ordered with the Corvette 5.7L. it was our pride and joy. the wife and daughter had gone shopping. got home, just pulled in the driveway and stopped so she could check the mailbox. before she could open the door, a 16 y/o girl, on her phone, veered off the road and t-boned the car. the daughter got some bumps and a few decents scratches but overall she was not too bad. wife didn't get any injuries as it was hit on the passenger side. the beautiful screamin' machine sacrificed herself to protect my family and was completely totaled. the girl who hit us had some decently serious injuries but she survived. i remember it like it happened yesterday because i was standing on the front porch and watched it happen. that was the 3rd and last IROC i ever owned.
This is my ultimate dream car, I've always dreamed of finding one. Glad to see one in the wild.
We looked for so long!
'87 IROC Z is literally my dream car! I had one in 2004 as a young soldier, multicolor white and rust, but ran solid, and I absolutely loved every drive.
The vented hood was a Z28 thing, ALL Z28 AND IROC had the vent hood. The smooth hood was a V6 and RS thing.
True but some iroc z models had a function hood that opened the loovers. I had 2 Z28s H.O
@@ernestsalazar8026 That was only the ones with the 305 crossfire injection and it wasnt louvers, it was a flap at the rear of the hood bulge. IROCs never had functional hood hardware.
You could get a V8 Sport Coupe with the smooth hood, FYI.
Ahhhhh okay! It's definitely the best hood for that car
@@ernestsalazar8026 No Irocz had function Hood. maybe the 80 to 81 z28
Verify the VIN on the sticker matches the one in the door jamb.

facts
5.7 was an 87-92 option for this generation in the IROC, T/A and Formula. This one is an 86.
'87 maybe, first year for the 5.7.
You could not get a 350 tpi in 1986 for the Camaro iroc z .87 and up you could.
1987 was the first production year for the 5.7 liter (350 ci). It was rated at 225 hp. The 87 with the 5.7 had a speedometer that topped out at 145 mph. I had one that was yellow and gold. Miss it everyday.
My dream car while I went to HS in the late 90’s was an IROC Z. This is one of the best vids I’ve seen on this channel. Congrats on ur new car!
I was going to bed…video dropped a minute ago. Well, decision made to stay up and watch 😂
Hahahaha, I just woke up :P and I go on TH-cam and boom, they've uploaded.

You guys rock! Thank you for the consistent Saturday uploads! Always find myself looking forward to these car detailing videos for the WD crew!
Thank you so much! We love what we do and we just found some really cool stuff in a barn coming very soon!

My Navy roomate bought an 88 IROC Z back in 1994. Loved driving that car. Ended up owning a Z28, WS6 and Z51 Vette over the years.
I bought an 88 IROC when I returned from Korea in 1993. 5.7 with automatic.
Congratulations on your purchase!!!! I wasn’t expecting to get a shout out
Great buy!!!!!

All the moisture that it sat over Killed those lines.
@WD: I love the ‘project’ series. Since you seem to prefer the Camaro IROC Z28, I don’t think you paid too much for this car…even considering the potential engine expense. You will receive that back in satisfaction and enjoyment. Wishing your channel continued success!
I would love to see you guys do an old School Pontiac GTO

What a dope car man I’m so jealous.
Glad you got the car you’ve waited for.I hope you get it up and running to enjoy.thanks John from Arizona
Jon seems like a Great Guy........Love his story and how they worked on it.
AWESOME! Finally im waiting for yall to do a c4! this so awesome thank you for the content!
I had this car! Loved it! It was the only one in my small hometown . Bose sound system , t tops , black with tan leather and gold bronze z28 graphics. Had to be careful the front airdam would scrap the road turning into Macdonalds which I found out the hard way. Great video!
it looks like franks mom is trying to find a hubby!... I've seen that look it's the seagul version of her being up for some Hawk Tuah action!
Screaming chicken, you had a Firebird.
@@pmscalisi Yes, all Trans Ams were Firebirds, but not all Firebirds were Trans Ams.
Prices being what they are now, $4500 was a steal for that car no matter what
Not at all dude, not at all.
Tpi was available in 85.. The 350 wasn't available till 87.
@@sodak3427 yeah, for some reason i forgot to type 350 after TPI. Brain moving faster than fingers I suppose.

It's rough and missing everything that would give it any value.

I feel the same way. To0 many different parts looks sus??? I had o e red n gold bk in high school. 5 speed
Not even a real IROC either. The rear drum brakes are the easy tell.

Talk too much!!!
85 Iroc came out with a 305 engine with Tpi. There were 3 different engine configurations depending on transmission type. The speedo went to 115mph
I absolutely adore 3rd gen camaros. This video is going to be so cool.
What a beautiful car, had a close friend that had one and yes it was red with black lettering and interior. lol One of my favorite hot rods for sure. I want to see this one running so an update would be great. Have a great day
Yes the 85 IROC Z did come with am/fm CD player. Also that is the proper tachometer for that car. Which also could mean it has over 100,000 on it.
I know jon/John is watching and SAYING........ATTA BOYSSS!!!!!!!! Looks Great!!!!!!!
You guys are the best. Great work with doing that for Mike's dad. Love his reaction - looks like a new truck.
Big Camaro enthusiast. Would love to find a barn find like that. Will make a great show car
My first car was the 86 IROC Z. Kept car for 25 years. My daddy bought me the car of my dreams.
In 1993 I owned a fully loaded 1991 Teal Green/Grey T-Top V8 Camaro with ground effects and the nice flat 5 spoke wheels not the painted ones. It had engine upgrades from the first owner. She was a rich women that wanted it fast an nice which it was.

Some Camaros came single color as well but all z28s came two tone but irocs came single cored as well which made em a slight sleeper car
Seats are newer ones from a 93-96 Camaro. And the 5 speeds of that era came with 305's only, GM claimed the 350 and stick combination was too rowdy for the frames especially with T-tops.
And insurance rates 😂

Front and rear casting mark is for different wheel back space to suit the suspension and wheel tubs.
Enjoy it.

The reason the rims are stamped front and rear is because the original tires were directional so you couldn’t do a traditional tire rotation. I had purchased a brand new irocz in 1987.
Absolutely love an iroc this brings back so many high school memories this was the first car I went over 100 mph in.
I found a 78 turbo regal you'd guys love. Pretty solid body in Kenton, Ohio.
