Gotta love it when the service guy tells you to just get an hour meter on amazon rather than trying to sell you some expensive mercury one that will do just the same thing.
thats a guy to trust, just like when a mechanic tells you can get a certain part half price online rather than gouge you out the ass. you find a guy like that and make sure you stick with them and pay them well
The mechanic shared some very good info on fuel additives, break in, and storage.
I’m very upset now that I seen this video. I was never told to that when I got my 15hp last week sucks that they don’t care to tell you that they act like 3k ain’t shit to em.

i thought under 80 hp were made by tohatsu and branded as mercs

ethanol only really hurts motors that sit for extended periods which most boats do. So run non ethanol fuel or add something like startron. Personally I opt to just buy non ethanol fuel because adding stuff to the fuel just seems like something i may forget and its not like that motor eats fuel like crazy

That's a Tohatsu motor. They make all mercs under 30hp. Good motor.

Get VesselView mobile. Will give you the hours and you can set maintenance reminders.
Michael Lopez - Mobile. Basically a module you install on the engine that you then attach the mobile app too. Gives you all the engine details at a fraction of the cost of link.
Looks like it only compatible above 40hp. “Compatible with all Mercury SmartCraft-capable engines built since 2003 (40 HP and up)”

Those are good motors man I have a 2016 15hp Merc. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON ETHANOL FREE GAS
@@TinyBoatNation I forgot yall don't usually carry it out there, You should be ok with a good stabilizer, plus with an EFI your much less prone to ethanol issues generally speaking. I have the carburated 15 hp and had to get a rebuild done this year unfortunately due to ethanol. Tight lines brother
PLEASE HELP. Love your Merc videos thanks. I bought a 2018 leftover 25hp efi three days ago. It won't push my 14' crestliner over 10 mph. The boat weigh 410lbs w/out motor. Motor runs smooth and light isn't indicating an issue. Motor at 10 mph wont even come close to planning the boat. PLEASE help, am I missing something? Motor didn't come with any type of a manual. Warranty book only
@@TinyBoatNation I'll try that. I'd expect this 25 four stroke to make my 410lb chestliner do at least 20 to 25mph. Will going to a 9 from an 11 make such a difference seeing im only able to reach 10mph now? Worse thing is never being able to get the bow down. I look like a fool crossing the lake dragging my A$$ like a dog. Thank you TBN for taking the time to reply.
@@TinyBoatNation turns out all I needed was a hydrofoil. I also got a 9 pitch but the cure was the hydrofoil. Biggest thing I notice with the 9 pitch is that at trolling speed the motor runs much smoother.
Hey Michael, did you use to own a twin Troller x10? I could have sworn I remember a video of how you had some cool lights on it! It also had a very cool, cooler rack, If that wasn’t you no need to respond. If it was is that video still available to watch? You don't need to spend money on a meter, time when you run it and keep a log.
Break it in the way you plan on running it !!!!
