I just bought a 2000 Johnson 40hp VRO outboard, console, controls and cables for $500. It was on a boat and being used when the guy decided he wanted a center console rig. He took it all off and delivered it to me. I had to sync the carbs, install new water pump and rebuilt the tilt. Someone had previously cross threaded the manual hydro release screw. It’s a beauty now. I think I have a lil over $560 in the whole thing and he threw in a new 6 gallon fuel cell, and interstate deep cycle battery that puts my new Walmart battery to shame and an older Evinrude Scout deck mount trolling motor. Yea, I thought I got a deal until I saw your video.

I ran across a 2019 25hp Yamaha Four Stroke short shaft with electric and pull start. It doesn't need a battery to start and run. Less than 20 hours. It still looked brand new. I paid the feller $3,000. It still has a one year warranty on it. It came with two brand new gas tanks and enough Yamaha oil for 3 oil changes plus 3 oil filters. I also drove 3 hours 6 hours round trip.

No bad for a 2 cylinder. I own one also and love it! Lots of power. I can hit about 20 to 25mph in the rivers around Savannah GA with a 16 foot 1997 Tracker Aluminum Bass Boat.

Do you even take the time to ground the spark plug wire when doing the compression test? Or is that just a Johnson thing that needs to be done or a 100+ HP thing? Awesome vids man! Love seeing these!
That's a bit over the top in 2012 a Monet sold for 43 million. These motors go for 2500. It would be more like finding a monet in a barn for 4.3 million.

If the guy that sold you that motor saw this video, he would be sick. That motor new cost what four or five thousand. The compression was very strong also. What a great buy!!! I need to apologize when I remarked about your setting that motor on fire a couple of months ago. I didn't see the whole video. I was wrong. I am 67 years old and things were different when I was young like you. We couldn't afford anything nice in those days. So again I am sorry and thank you for the great video.
That was my first thought that thing was definitely at the bottom of the lake. It's an easy fix if you get on the motor right away after you get it out of the water. How tight that cylinder was would make me believe they did nothing at first at least anyways. Take spark plugs out put oil in unplug the wiring harness connections blow them all out with compressed air dry everything out the best you can same with carburetor put back together and start little more to it but that's the basic.

@TT I know it was $150 cause i can read minds using youtube. Also cause he posted the ad and said so. Runs good cause its a clean start warmed and cold start in the water. It pushes the boat though incoming waves on a flat bottom boat. Compression is good and even ware and tear one cylinders. So if everything is in spec it should run to spec. @@gamesofcontent That carb was massively corroded- all that crap that fell out was corroded aluminum dust. A carb kit isn't gonna fix that. An ultrasonic cleaning might save it, but that 4stroke carb is still a lot more complicated and finicky than a typical 2stroke carb. Better to replace it with new or a good used one.

I'm still looking for a 6 or 8hp 2 stroke. Going on a month.
In marathon key got 8 2stroke 800$
Was it hard to spin because it was in gear? You could see the prop turn as you cranked it with the wrench at 2:00 in the video.
A chinese-ism starter. What happened with the carb, there’s no way you were able to salvage it....
Why not? Carb kit probably doesnt even cost $30 for that motor. What would be so difficult about it?
@@gamesofcontent That carb was massively corroded- all that crap that fell out was corroded aluminum dust. A carb kit isn't gonna fix that. An ultrasonic cleaning might save it, but that 4stroke carb is still a lot more complicated and finicky than a typical 2stroke carb. Better to replace it with new or a good used one.
Sweet! Nice find man!
Hey BAB, I was just watching one of your videos! Great stuff! lol
Probaly stolen
10:53 do i see it wright? Your boat is complete of partially wood?
At the 2:00 mark, you were trying to turn the engine with a ratchet wrench. You'll get a lot more leverage by slipping a 2 ft. pipe over the handle.
Great video! Glad to see a nice motor get a second chance. You hit the jackpot with that motor.
This was awesome. However, to all the people who down voted this video, what is your major malfunction? How can you down vote a video that clearly shows he was able to fix this motor. He was clear and concise. Friendly and informative. What is wrong with your brains?
way too many ads
@@thekidd4286 Ads??? That's so weird, I didn't see one ad. People say they always get ads, but I never see one on any video I watch. I guess youtube missed my computer with their crap.
Man,you lucked out on that one. That is one sweet working outboard.
You call that rough? Try the Solent (between the Isle of wight and Southampton) chop, last time we went motor boating out there, we had to put 2 reefs in the deck canopy...... I just love your videos, keep up the good work.
Nice job! Did you need to rebuild the carb or just clean it up? Thanks.
Great Job mate, I was interested in how you got on because I've just got an Evinrude E-Tec 50 hp 2014 for free, told it has blown up ! I hope some of your luck will rub off on me, thanks for another cool episode :-)
You were just the right guy to buy that boat motor you had all the necessary extra bolts laying around to fix it and you know how to work on boat motors.
Only in Florida do you find deals like that! Plus the many videos you've made about the killer deals on boats at scrap yard prices!
Good job dude. I think you did an great job on that outboard..
Got my respect.
I found a Johnson 25h for $100... Its stuck, but this video just gave me hope! Love your channel! Keep the vids coming!
It's nice to have OE Japanese bolts. The heads are almost always even sizes. Hardware store bolts are typically odd sized heads.
What a fun project for 150 and you did hella job, great video man
ATF works wonders on freeing up rings on a seized motor I've heard
Such a great deal. Wow. Man. Props. Hats off to a good job. When u know what to do it makes it s lot easier. Well done. That 25 is perfect
First video I've watched. Great deal on the motor and a little trip on the intercoastal.......what could be better?
