The 2 I have r about 8 months.. they don't fuss as much since I started using the shock collars. They usually fall right asleep for an hour or so if we hit the button. We gave one a mohawk the other day it funny looking. The other just sit their n stares. I think he has trouble seeing with his watery eyes. Prob an infection nothing a lil vinegar won't cure with some drops. The love playing with the dog too. After the finger accident we started using boxing gloveto protect the hands. It's funny when the dog shakes the around. Sometimes the throw up cuz the get so dizzy. The best is when I dress like a gorilla nd pretend to hunt them. Once I capture one I really work it good by pulling the limbs n hair slapping n pinching it n sometimes bite it. It really helps them understand that there r predators. They r getting better at getting away so maybe I should step it up a lil

If not I would be more than happy to put something together for you (free of charge). When my youngest finishes high school in 3 years I am hoping to volunteer in Borneo. You are truly remarkable in what you have accomplished. I followed Long Nielsen work and don't know where she ended up.

Malissa H The ones you are seeing caged are being transported for rehabilitation. You understand that they can’t just sit in a passenger seat right? They’re in a cage because poachers have almost certainly killed their mother to try and traffic them.
The people putting them in cages at the rehabilitation centers are only doing it in the beginning to quarantine them before integrating them with the other orangutans to make sure they don’t spread diseases…

She's become a bit controversial and I've read a lot of good stuff about her and her operations but also some not-so-nice. As a female westerner, I wonder: if one lives almost 100% of their time in the rain forest (as she claims), why has she gained weight and her Indonesian counterparts have not? Please, I'm not "shading" or "bullying" Ms Galdikas -- just wondering.

It's so cruel, the sadness in the little ones eyes breaks my heart. It's doesn't say where this place is, they should be reported for caging these beautiful Orangutans.
They are likely NOT kept n the cages all the time. It is necessary to contain them somewhere or they would scatter out in the jungle and predators would likely get them.
So innocent and trusting like a human baby. These are the lucky ones.
