  • If you are looking for a very beginner friendly super easy knitted hat to make for a baby, look no further. This simple baby hat is knitted in the round, so there is no seaming and does not use any decreases for the top of the hat. It can be knitted in one or two sittings. Full instructions are included in this video and a link to the free pattern is below as well for both infant and toddler sizes.
    For this particular hat I used the Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee SoftStitch yarn. It's a super soft acrylic yarn perfect for babies (but it is currently unavailable on Amazon).
    A very similar Yarn Bee yarn can be used as well and found here:

      But I couldn’t find the larger hat instructions for a toddler. I think maybe 80 stitches?

      @@roszcutler9724 yes 80 stitches to cast on for the toddler hat. Here is the link to the pattern on Raverly. The larger hat is in paranthesis. www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easiest-baby-hat-ever-2

    Can you make this just by using garter stitch and not use the purl stitch? I’m left handed and really struggling with the purl stitch.

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes definitely. Just do the entire thing in garter stitch. It will look a bit different, but work for a hat just as well.

    What was the thickness size you used for the worsted weight acrylic yarn?

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is a worsted weight #4 on the yarn weight scale for this hat. For this particular hat I used the Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee SoftStitch yarn. It's a super soft acrylic yarn perfect for babies (but it is currently unavailable on Amazon). Not sure if you can still get it at Hobby Lobby. But any soft worsted #4 weight yarn will work nicely.

      I'm sorry, I should have given you that information. US size 7 is equivalent to 4.5mm size needle. The needles and yarn are both available on Amazon. Here is the link to the needles and the yarn.
      Double Pointed Needles that I use can be found on Amazon at:
      amzn.to/3ETmY5C
      Yarn used for this project can be purchased here:

      If these links don't work in the UK, search for:
      Weabetfu Aluminum Double Pointed Knitting Needles
      and Hobby Lobby Oats Yarn Bee ID Yarn
      Hope that helps.

    How many stitches for 8 years boy

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would try either 88 or 92 stitches to cast on. Since it’s a ribbing it is pretty stretchy so you may get by with 88 stitches.

    All I have is merano.

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      While I love merino wool I try to steer away from wool for babies or kids since you have to hand wash it. But then again hats don’t need frequent washing so you may be ok.

      @jacqknits  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Oh, thank you for bringing that to my attention. I have now fixed that link. But to answer your question, the Toddler hat, I casted on 80 stitches. Thanks for reaching out.

    Can you show us how you do a Pom Pom?

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for that suggestion. I actually make my poms poms with a pom pom maker which will be fun to show how. You can also make them with some tools from home which I feel doesn't make as nice of one, but I could show how to do that as well. I'll try to fit that video in over the next few weeks. Thanks again. Happy knitting!
