Could you guys explain all the technical jargon in your 'explained' videos. Like what an end tank is and Showing us the difference between bar and plate vs tube and fin. The reminder about how an intercooler works was a good addition.
what are your thoughts on intercoolers with connections each on opposite sides versus intercooler with both connections on the same side where the air is forced to make an about face?
If you want to make a real intercooler Look at any of the large truck ones There end tanks are just beautiful Most so called performance intercooler s suck Air making heaps of 90 degree turns Sure your space constrained but don’t make a pigs ear out of it
This video is a waste of time. Too much goofing around and too little specific information. Watch until the presenter says that he is going to cut the intercooler in half and then turn the video off, because he gives you no more useful information after that point.
@@maperformance that it is no better than stock. The IATs are no different than stock. It doesnt mitigate heat at all. But whatever until I can afford a garret it will suffice.
@@GaragebuiltOriginal Much like a radiator, the cooling ability of an air to air intercooler is largely affected by the amount and velocity of air over the fins. An intercooler that already makes use of all it's cooling airflow is as effective as it can be, to see the expected reduction in IATs you need to figure out how to increase airflow over the core. the only way an IC will drastically reduce IATs is usually with a big frontal area increase, because that increases total cooling airflow.
@@mikescherrer4923 so basically this top mount is no better than stock. I hear the only good one is from cobb grimmspeed and Garrett being the best. So basically kids dont waste your money like I did.
What parts do you want to see us cut in half next?

You guys are like the fitment industries of performance (mean that in a good way)
appreciate it! those guys are like our brothers!
FWIW it's the carbon in the steel that makes the sparks, with higher-carbon steels like cast steel making way more sparks.
Try a cold cut blade for the chop saw works way better!

I will gladly agree and say the maperformance 2015 wrx intercooler is the worst you can buy.
That's unfortunate that you had a negative experience. What issues did you have with it?
