Just tossing this out there, that Harbor Freight LED flash light at 2:55 -- I have 2 of them and love them, but the first one I bought started flickering after it'd be on for a few minutes, and would be sensitive to being bumped. I'd tighten the battery cap more snug but it'd never make a difference. After putting up with it for a few years, I finally looked into it and it was easy to fix. There's a youtube vid or 2 on it. Just bending the little ground ground wire contact inside (it's near the charge port, can't see it until the charge port clear plastic piece is removed) so that it's sprung against the inner bore of the aluminum handle totally stops all flickering/dimming.
Yep, been there and done that with all 4 of mine. I also bought a whole bunch of Samsung 18650 cells and a charger so I always have 5 or hot batteries on hand.
@@ProjectTimeGarage Right on, yeah I did the same thing for some higher capacity Panasonic 18650s. Takes these flashlights to the next level since separate chargers charge them higher/quicker, and being able to swap batteries lickity-split sure is nice.
Did not replace the bolt and washer in the end of the spindle and needs some grease in that hub. A shot of p b blaster on those cone washers works wonders, if the are really frozen.
Just replaced my front left CV on my '94. Did you add any grease to the spindle shaft that goes into the wheel hub? I didn't but am wondering if I need to take everything apart again and add some...
Tie rods are pretty simple, the pitman arm needs the right separator tool size to get it off (tool oem27016).You should inspect those /refresh them too I bet. Oem Toyota tie rods aren’t too expensive;)
@@ProjectTimeGarage I was wondering if I should do the ball joint and shocks while I have this off? IDK if the ball joint is bad but the shocks are sooooooo rusty. I do know the cv joint is bad so maybe I should just do everything all together? Do you have any other videos on those things? Or any thoughts on doing them at the same time?
My 4 runner vibrates and wobbles at a higher speed. It starts around 40 and between 40 and 70 the car starts making this obnoxious buzzing sound. Could that be an indication that the front shaft needs to be replaced? The tires are semi new I’ve only had them for 4 months and they were balanced or so they claim 🤷♂️
Given how well it seems to run it might just need a set of valve seals. Compressed air or a bit of nylon rope in the cylinder and you can do it without pulling the head. Might be time to share how much your FREE truck has cost. My wife and I have had that conversation before about how much that "free" item has cost me. 😀 I still feel it's cheaper in the end AND I know what's been done.
I thought it may be valve seals at one point, but given the amount of blow-by I think it's rings on #3. Also, GREAT IDEA on the cost of "Free". I'm going to do a video on it. Outstanding, thank you!
I don't recall having to. For the dash lights, I bought them from www.superbrightleds.com - Go with the green COB style bulbs. Part number is 194-GCOB1W I think there were like 4 or 5 of them.
Personally I prefer the old fashioned glow of the bulbs... And maybe it's just me but I don't understand why everybody wants their dash so bright it's like daylight in the middle of night, just makes it harder to see out with all that bright glare in your face
No, it's a required part for sure. Unfortunately, most people don't see the whole video recording part of TH-cam. When you turn the camera off, and find something wrong, seldom do you remember to get everything set back up for a single shot. Happens to us all the time. I assure you though, the parts are back where they belong, just not on video.
I have watched quit a few videos on how to do this and your video is the best one yet. Thank you.
Thank you!
Tapping the studs of the cone washers is best way to remove them
Good info, thanks!

I’m gonna have to do this. I’ve been fretting it. Mines an 1987 too. Seems like you made it look easy. Hope mine goes as well as yours!
It's definitely one of the easier jobs I've done. I doubt you'll have any trouble with it at all.
thank you, this was very helpful, I have the same clicking problem on my 93 4WD Toyota pickup, now I know what I am getting into
You are welcome!
Great video & thank You for the off road tour. How is the Old Toyota doing today??
It's good. I've put it in time-out because it has an oil consumption issue. It's coming back, though.

I've never greased the splines on them before. Guess it wouldn't hurt, but I've never found it necessary, even from the factory.
Just bought an 88, thank you for this.
Glad I could help
thank you brotha
My pleasure!
I need to replace a cv axle on my 89, How much additional work would it be to go ahead and replace the shocks and tie rods during this job?

I would for sure do them while you're in there. I'm with LemonC - buy the O/E Toyota tie rod ends. They'll last a LOT longer.

My 2002 f250 7.3 was also free. I spent so much money on repairs and upgrades for it that my wife decided she needed a new car.
I really hope my wife doesn't read this post!!

Could very well be a driveline vibration. Start with the drive shafts. Make sure they are true.
@@ProjectTimeGarage I am pretty sure it’s the vc axles. The drums seem damaged. Covered in grease.
Hi, I have a 1990 Hilux surf LN 130 2.4ltr turbo diesel. Would this be a similar procedure ?
Thank you
It should

Free, always costs money.
Hood video thank you.
You don’t have to mess with the thin bearing nut behind the clip?
Also how’s you get the instrument panel so bright?

Please do more videos working on these trucks thank you
More to come!
That would be great to get a 1987 Toyota pickup 4x4 for free 😂😂
Lol, at this point I'm thinking that free was still too expensive.
@@ProjectTimeGarage lol...yeah, parts aren't easy to come by anymore!😭😭
Muy buen video 👍
Thanks!
Is the truck for sale?
Not currently, but it probably will be at some point.
Hello Boss ! watch your video you make so easy 20 mins Like and subscribed,
Thank you!
Bro, 1897!? Dang!
Are you saying you *can't* get 125 years out of a Toyota pickup?
Lol, yeah it's an early model.....Like really early.😂🤣😂🤣
I guess the bolt and washer is optional behind wheel lock on axle

That's a steep hill.
