Toyota Ruined Themselves Because of Greed

- In this video we are at a Toyota dealership where these prices are insane. They don’t even make sense to be honest at this point and a lot of this inventory is just sitting even with discounts on Toyota they can’t sell it because Toyota increased the price they got so greedy over the last few years now they’re having to pay the price.
In 2019 I bought my house for 40k. If these people think I’m gonna buy ANY vehicle that cost more than a house, they’re insane! My house was a fixer upper. Didn’t take a lot of $ or work. I bought before COVID when Ohio home prices were normal. Four bedroom and two car garage on a third acre out of the city😃
40k??? Where do you live the swap s of Mississippi??? Lol
@ Ohio. Bought a fixer upper. Just had to do a little work, no biggie. 4 bedroom with a 2 1/2 attached garage. 1/3 acre lot
@cannabiscatnip5677 ohhh very nice.. nothing wrong with that
lol you’re poor!
40k for a house? Does it have wheels?
all plasticky and crap assembly, add a crap engine...for $50k? lol
Appreciate you putting the spotlight on them. These dealerships and manufacturers are a bunch of vultures
Limited = limited of us can afford them.
Don’t know what people are thinking buying these over priced trucks. I blame them for the high prices.
Off hand, I can't think of anyone that builds a quality 1/2 ton or smaller truck aside from maybe Honda
Just offered a $10k off on a 2025 Tundra 1794 (4 months on the lot), and they turned it down.
Ok. Let it rot. 😂
I'm with you brother.
@jeffholloway7974 was it an unreasonable offer? 😆
@@David_Moon007 I don't think its unreasonable. The customer is right. They have too many on the lots and it cost them money to have them sitting around. I actually bought a used Tacoma for a really good deal after I saw how much they were trying to sell a turbo 4 cylinder truck for.
Don't forget, they are not anything like they used to be. The engines are poorly designed and more poorly made. The quality is gone. The transmissions might make it through the warranty, but thats all. They are cashing out on the name. The word is getting out. Such a shame honda is going the same direction. Junk.
I agree. I remember when several of my friends would only buy American vehicles to support American workers. But they used to admit that Toyota and Honda made outstanding vehicles. Those days appear to be gone.
What would be a good car to buy now I’m looking to buy my first car/ truck and I was looking at the tocomas
Cheap manufacturing and NY prices
Trucks are crazy but I just bought a 2025 RAV4 Hybrid XLE Loaded for 35,900 OTD. MSRP was 37.5 and online couldn’t find one cheaper than 37k MSRP. This was in Western New York.
Better off buying used 3rd generation with v6. Lasts forever.
Go after the foreign brands. Lol. Shame on Toyota and Honda for charging 40K for a 4 cylinder car!
This is why the Used Car Market is blowing up with sales and people just aren't buying New cars anymore.
My cousin's uncle mother's 2025 Tundra blew a motor driving down the highway the other day
The Toyota Dealership should change the oil once the Tundra gets off the truck and have the customer come back 900 to 1000 miles afterwards to get an oil change. Then do 4,000 oil changes there after. I think the breakin period is why these Tundra's engines are being destroyed
I wouldn’t give them $5,900 for a Tacoma ! They are gutless. I might go as high as $15,000 for a Tundra but that’s all their worth !
Okay to sum things up what is said in the video: Mexican made Tacos are equipped with a 4 banger turbos, come standard with random misaligned panels, and offer vestigial build quality is a very bad purchase at $60k.
Yes that is very unappealing. Everyone with a normal functioning brain will be able to figure this out. Thank you very much!
New car fever is powerful. I sold Chevy's back in 1980 and they were really turning out crappy lead sleds. Still people were trying to buy them and usually getting turned down in finance.
I am so grateful that I have a job that doesn’t require owning a pickup. I will continue sticking with far more affordable sedans.
I think the average annual income for a Mexican household is around 3500 USD. Which means Toyota is making bank having them built there.
JUNK.............
Transmission issues with tacomas.
As James Bond would say - “Shlightlly above my paygrade!”
If ppl just stop buying trucks for this new year we would be better off
I agree. So many people buying trucks don't really need trucks. I needed truck is a standard cab with a standard or long bed. Trucks are no longer workhorses, but showhorses.
This is why auto insurance is so expensive.
So Toyota builds these lower quality Tacomas for about $10k cost in Mexico then ships them to the USA to sell to American suckers I mean consumers for $60K. I bought a Tacoma X-cab in 1990 with a V6 for about $13.5K and it was made in Japan. Even at that price it was a very expensive little truck back then.
The older 4.0L Tacomas can handle alot of abuse. I put mine through extreme conditions for twelve years. Short trips. Dusty environments, frequent towing, offroad. Red lining. No way I'd buy anything new from Toyota. Lots of junk out there.
Just curious, would you buy any new truck from anyone?
The problem with the Toyota Rav 4LE is that it feels like trash and sitting in a plastic box. Better off buying a crv or Mazda cx5. For the price you can even get a nice used Kia Telluride.
“They don’t make as much” well now they’ll make nothing because no one is gonna pay that much for a Camry
Turbos are for diesel engines not gasoline engines.
Price too damn high
That too much
There are people climbing over each other to pay 60k for a Tacoma.😅
Not in my city. They were crawling over each other to buy 4x4 V6 Tacomas in 2019
Yep, and those people in a year will be getting it repoed.
Not here. One dealer in town has 60+ Tacomas and 40+ Tundras. The other nearby is similar. They aren't selling like they usually do, and the price of used 3rd gens has stabilized and seems reasonable given the 2024s-2025s
Got a 2006...I'll keep it.
The cheapest Camry at my dealer is $30,144. The most expensive is the XLE AWD with six dealer addons at $43L. I've never seen a Camry at my dealer for $50K. Maybe they have a son more dealer addons or market adjustments. The lowest I've seen a Camry is $29.5K. I'd buy one at $27.5K but we'll need a recession to get that price. The question I have is have there been any quality issues on the 2025 Camry? I have not heard of any. To the contrary, the reports that I've seen are that they are the best in the industry, particularly related to the eCVT and Hybird system.
Okay, your $46K Camry has Connectivity Kit for $75, Carpet Mat Set with storage for $369, Dash Cam for $499, Illuminated Trunk Sill for $450, Mud Guards for $349, Vehicle Protection package for $179, Rear Cargo Organizer for $159. Then there's that Premium Plus Package for $4,760. Take all that stuff out and then go down to an LE and you're under $30K.
Went and helped my daughter buy a vehicle a couple of weeks ago. I'm used to having to deal with the sales person first and then finance. Well, not at this Toyota dealer. First the sales person, then the accessories person and then finance. I was not in a good mood by the time I got to finance.
What did she buy?
@@Rdrunnersac First car for her. A 2022 Mazda CX-30. I inspected it bumper to bumper. Very nice car.
I agree with you 100%…. I own 2 older Tacomas …. They WERE great vehicles.
You dont NEED a truck. Buy a cheap minivan to haul the family and spend the rest on a cool little sports car for yourself.
I bought my brand new 2018 Toyota Tundra V8 4WD 5.7 TRD in 2018 for $35K. Never had any issues with it! It now has over 104K miles, but this engine will go up to 500K half-life, and I've taken very good care of it! I will NEVER trade it in for a piece of crap 2024 TT. Even those models have only a V6, with a turbo. Keep your turbo, Toyota, and bring back quality rather than trying to sell lipstick on a pig!
Thomas, looks like you’re @ Jim Norton here in Tulsa - they’ve got a ton of Tundra’s.
Agreed on the greed part. Forced induction engines can last longer.
Turbo sucks. Cylinder deactivation sucks. People don’t buy this overpriced junk please. Make them make naturally aspirated engines that will last 300,000 miles plus
I took my chance on a 2024 ZR2 $45,900 with nice options and way more truck than a $46000 Tacoma. I have allot more faith in the 2.7 Chevy motor, there are plenty of full size trucks with that motor with 200k plus still running great.
I bought my 2018 Camry OTD $24800....I would be out of my F'king mind to pay 46K for a Camry.
46,000 we don’t need power ,we need transportation to survive, and pay bills,we don’t need turbo crap😢😢😢
Oh..."I really love what you're doing for me, Toyota..."
I love these videos. Gets me going how much of a rip off these trucks are.
All manufacturers make vehicles cheap, put an over price msrp sticker on windows
That’s why you order your vehicle. Don’t buy one from dealer inventory. Otherwise you’ll have to play their stupid add-on games.
wow! 50K corolla says everything
ITS NOT TOYOTA its the dealership. i bought a Carolla(non gr) like the one in the video for $28k SE only a couple options. i got a Camry like the one in the video $42k XSE with about 60% of the additional options. so dont blame Toyota because the dealership is gouging.
That's the reason I don't buy Toyota I rather keep driving my 1996 Tacoma until the wheels fall off
I leased a ‘24 Tacoma 4dr SR-5 & got a great deal. It was same lease price as 2020 4dr SR. I’ve had it for 6 mos.
What brand should people get instead?
Yeah…I’ll just keep my 3rd gen Tacoma. 2019 with 116,000 miles. Been rock solid so far.
There’s a Tacoma Trailhunter listed at $102K CDN at a local dealer.😂
I would never buy a truck with a car engine...
Pull your camper and toys through the mountains here in the southwest, Flagstaff to Laughlin and back to Sedona out to Moab with the bikes on the trailer.....that 4 cyl Tacoma will be dead in 100,000 miles or less. It's just not built for what people buy them for! It's crap!
Well, I suppose it would be ok for a daily driver but If I wanted a daily driver, I would spend $60K!
This. Good Call. Tacomas are a decent mid sized truck but they are NOT tow rigs. Why daily drive a truck if you don't need one.
Wasn’t there a recall with the break lines?
What an Arch from 2020 when I bought my TRD Sport manual for under $44,000 Loonies out the door.
It's like Nike all over again.
I seen a Toyota Camry XSE out in Tucson, Arizona at Desert Toyota for a little bit less than you seen that XLE all-wheel-drive. But to your point, I was really upset when Toyota discontinued the Avalon and brought the crown out here. It was almost $60,000. The Crown drove absolutely terrible. It was not the same type of comfort as the Avalon or even a Camry is.
I hate they don’t have the v6 anymore I’ll keep my 2nd gen till it dies
Thats the point.. last 7 to 9 years
. Trade it in and buy a new one
If you park them perpendicular to the parking spot, they will sell!!
I like my older Tacoma. New stuff is just not as good.
Why did Toyota do this?
What an Arch from 2020 when I bought my TRD sport manual for under 44,000 out the door.
People are saying no? What other route is there?
I’ll keep both my two Honda’s Pilot and CRV. Both paid off and saving $1200 a month I was paying for both. 2020 and 2021.
2025 Toyota Camry XSE $44,000 and the top speed of 115mph because Toyota puts an ecvt transmission in the Camry. A standard Toyota Corolla is faster than the new Camry. Sad
You can get an F250 for $60-70K compared to a plastic Toyota. I would rather be in an F250 in case of a crash vs a Tacoma since all it takes is one hit by a full size SUV or pickup, and you're dead.
Still nowhere near as bad as any stellantis brand. (Chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram) though I do agree they are overpriced though.
It could be worse! Toyota could use a CVT*!
* CVT stands for continuously variable transmission.
Toyota does use a CVT. The one thing Toyota did correctly was with adding a 1st gear to their CVT.
The Jatcos in Nissans are an absolute POS.
Do tariffs include vehicles? This will be interesting!
I hope Toyota build these high prices trucks again next year. So they can rot in the lot. Good luck selling them. I bought 2014 Tacoma for $27,000 and still have it.heck send these high prices truck to third world countries they might buy them.
Well there looks to be tons in stock so maybe they aint selling....
@ 1:15 you can see a paint line on the edge of the hood. It's been damaged.
Toyota has serious problems with White Trucks and their clearcoat, alot were recalled. That does look resprayed.
Mexico currency is 3 times usd. So a 50k tacoma is saying its 150k usd. Sad.
The American made Tundra isn’t any better. In fact would say it’s far worst than made in Mexico Tacoma. Not only the engine problem. But crack seats. Low quality seals etc.
Tacoma has always been made between in America . And the American version has always had tad bit lower quality according to the forums.
The Honda Civic has plants in Mexico as well for example. And that seems to be a reliable car
But with these new tariffs who knows what is going to happen like you said.
The only thing now is the labor in Mexico doesn’t reflect the price.
Fortunately I have never needed a fancy car like a limited.Bought a 19 Camry LE when it came out. And bought an SR5 Tacoma. Keep it simple and you won’t sell an arm buying a vehicle.
I once got offered 34k for an 24 SR . For the base 24 SR5 instead for 36k.
I’m sure most people buy these affordable tiers not these overpriced tiers.
Albeit, an 56k SR5 Tundra is not affordable in my opinion. Maybe $45k SR5 Tundra.
The Camry LE 51-53mpg is a great value at just under 30k. So is the Rav 4. I’m guessing that why they sold over 300k Camry and over 400k Rav4.
Not sure about the new 4Runner. Seems to be even more expensive than even the Tacoma. 😅
Honda Civic is built in Canada 🇨🇦
@ they also have factories in mexico to assemble them there at the Honda de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. plants in Celaya and El Salto.
Although I think the Civic are also primarily assembled in Ohio . But I could be wrong on that.
I think it’s one of those vehicles that is assemble in USA, Canada, And Mexico
You can buy a 2500 or 3500 Ram diesel for those prices.
And there are a lot of '23 Rams of all kinds still on the lot. The good news is the Cummins engine on the bigger Rams. The diesel on the half tons is some Fiat POS. Another bit of bad news with the Cummins is that it is surrounded by Stalantis crap.
Ill buy a 2012 Honda for 6 k that will last me as long as a 2025 Camrey for 50 K
In canada they offer NOTHING under 30k$, they have no inventory (except for bz4x :), that they have a lot!!! ... I'm gonna buy somewhere else for sure!
Quick math, if Trump actually puts a 25% on Mexican products, a $60,000 Tacoma, it will be a $75,000 Tacoma. I would give $25,000 grand for a new Tacoma 4X4. BTW, tariffs are a bad idea, and was a major cause of the Great Depression.
Trump wants to grow the size of government on the backs of hard working Americans.
Mexican made tacomas bout to go even higher
You see Tacoma trucks that are 2018 and up are for sale cheaper than the 2nd. Generation, that tells you everything about Toyota crash
Should be high 20k-30kmax
They about to be 25% more thx to trump
Toyota is trashy now all plastic parts, so cheap
I won't pay more than 25 thousand
With Drumpf's tariff it will be closer to $70,000+ when it's all said and done.
Well at least he knows the difference between men and women unlike you people. At least he's deporting criminals back to their country instead of letting them in unvetted.
Can I get you a tissue for your Trump tears sweetie? Awww😢 hugs...feew bettoow
$60k Canadians money, might be believable
that first tacoma is 37k max
MAYBE, factor in all of the plastic parts and you drop another $10k off that, so ~$25k max
My favorite brand of all time. Now it's shit. They can take that turbo shit back to where they got it.
They are all junk way way to expensive and cheap shit plastic.
I have q 2013 camry SE. It runs like a top with 150,000 miles. Ready for a new one but there are NO Camerys without a battery or a turbo and they are way over priced. No V6 engines except the XSE and that is over 40,000. For a Camery? Moving to Subaru. More for the money. Cheaper with more features than Toyota. 2.5 4 cyl. which is tried and true. Oh ya, the best AWD in the biz. Later Toyota.
do they have vent window
do they have 2door
Toyota does offer an "access" type cab without the rear doors. I have seen ONE out in the wild. They are rare and seem useless without access to the area behind the drivers seat.
It’s a coupe pick up truck w/ 4 doors. Get the Tundra
You have NAFTA Mexico/Canada building Toyota,Ford and Chevy that’s
Excellent insight presentation, as always, Thanks
gold 30000 $ soon and taco 300000 Monday market crash
Crazy how Americans talk down on almost anything built elsewhere and call it 'cheap' crap" or "low wages". As if the Quality here in America is the standard. Wow. The ego on this one is strong. America strong
Toyota is garbage only the fanboys will buy them. People who can afford vehicles up to $150K have the option, not trying to flex, but who in the right mind spends this amount on Toyota or Lexus. Down here in Naples and Palm Beach, Florida its rare to see these type of vehicles, I've been in Toyota and germans and its night and day but I guess Toyota drivers are different class of people compare to those in S class and 7 Series.
@@Ameer_30 Have news for you, the price of your precious German-maintenance-nightmare garbage is getting ready to go up by at least 25% - tariffs!! 😉 Yeeeehaaaw!
What are Americans carrying in the back of these trucks 🤷 let's be honest most are not used for there intended purpose.
As a red stater I have heard the following reasons to get a truck: The title 179 accelerated depreciation, flipping the bird to tree hugging liberals, I may need to haul something one day, cars are to small nowadays, this truck looks cool bro, I like sitting up high, I might need to pull a trailer, and you only live once. I weep for the future of our country.
@@jeffholloway7974What future?
Mine is full of tools and supplies most of the time. My truck does get used for truck stuff!
