WolfRam & Hart have necro-tempered glass. That's why vamps are ok in there even with giant windows. Also yes they are rich and their offices don't look opulent. They spend money on....other things.

I love that Lindsay doesn't stay fighting for the good guys.
The message is Angel true opponent in the series is the fact that the world isn't as black and white as heros wish it were. Angel knows this. Buffy being a college age kid hasn't really had to deal with that aspect in its entirety yet. Another difference between the two overall themes/differences of the shows.

Holland spared Lindsey because he could sense that Lindsey hadn't made his mind up, and knew how to manipulate him. He had decided to turn against the firm but he wasn't so set on it that he couldn't be swayed back. Holland offered him power, respect and money, reaffirmed his capacity for choice, flattered his ego and generally didn't put a foot wrong.
Angel, on the other hand, botched this. Siding with Angel meant giving up all his wealth, power and comforts to work for someone who openly didn't even care if he lived or died. He did a lousy job of making defecting appealing, and money can make people act against their morals and self-interest.

Blind Date was a great episode setting up a brilliant finale in S1. This show really came into its own in late S1 with some stunning episodes. Lindsay going back to Wolfram & Hart, is a twist at the end. Angel is just so cool in the episode the way he kills Vanessa Brewer is brilliantly done. Holland Manners is so detestable a character. Wesley know what's in the prophecy which keeps us on tenterhooks for the finale, it doesn't disappoint. On re-watches we realise what a great show this was.

12:38 He did compare the mnd-readers to drug tests which also use a group of people at a time, not the whole company all the time (or so I am led to believe).

Lindsey gets a new office with more power, money, and influence. The kids were a step too far, that crossed a line for him - but maybe he can make a difference on the inside. He really is mostly about power, but even evil people can have qualms about killing innocents.
The assassin gave up her sight in order to gain a different form of sight - a sacrifice made to gain a power. She may have had a good reason, or she could just have been a psychopath...

I was glad to finally see some fleshing out of what goes on behind the scenes at W&H. I'm guessing people don't get a job there unless they are committed to evil. So a conversion to the good side just isn't likely.
