The interesting part of Vincent is that he is the only playable character that actually knows Sephiroth's true origin, while everyone else thinks Sephi's is a descendant of Jenova.
An interesting theory is that there is a small possibility that he is the father of Sephiroth. Being related to Lucrecia and Vincent, also with Hojo and using the Jonova cells that are inside him.
It’s crazy to think that Cloud or any of the SOLDIERS who have existed before could’ve easily been as strong as Sephiroth, some stronger than him if they had been Jenova + Lifestream enhanced right from birth. Angeal is very close to that, since he’s inherited Jenova cells from birth too, albeit indirectly instead of injected
you forgot to mention that Vincent was given the role of destroying the world when chaos decided to fuse with him. Vincents chaos form is his actual form but he doesn't use it till later because he was unable to accept not being human anymore. The reason Vincent falls into pity and regret so often is because he is now the darkness of man. Regret, sorrow, sadness, pain etc. etc.
Brett Skinner Great point! It's hard to hit every single detail when there's so much to talk about, so I'm glad people can fill in the cracks through comments :)

Just think. If Zack had woken Vincent up in Crisis Core, he could would have met Sephiroth, and told him the truth of his origin. Then the events of FFVII might not have happened.
OR lucrecia could have quit being a useless crybaby.vincent tried to console HER after learning she was there when HIS father died. instead she just runs into Hojos arms. if she wasn't so oversensitive she could have stayed with vincent, then sephiroth wouldn't be born. or at least he wouldn't be part jenova.

However found just a couple errors and oversights: 1:He wasn't a supervisor during his time on the Turks, he was assigned as Hojo and Lucrecia's bodyguard. 2:Lucrecia's cave can be accessed by black or green chocobo too, and you don't need to wait until disc3 to get again to the cave: just 20 battles will do, making Chaos and Death Penalty available during the Hojo boss fight. 3: Advent Children occurs 2 years after the game, and Dirge of Cerberus is set 3 years after the original game. The two years between the game and Advent Children are explained in the novella series "On the Way to a Smile".
I don't know how many times i played FFVII, but i always liked Vincent. My party was always Cloud with Vincent and either Barret/Cid. He always had the "it" factor and had a great back story. However, i hated Dirge of Cerberus, i played it half way until i couldnt anymore.
Zeithri ...Impossible hair? His hair looks plausible to me. What’s impossible about it, besides the fact that it never seems to tangle? Even then, most fictional characters’ hair never tangled unless it’s either a plot point or the hair is supposed to be messy.

The relationship between hojo and luc is abusive and i think she was forced to do alot of the bad things. I think she first took hojo over vincent for hojo is a genius but later came to regret it.
There is a scene in Dirge of Cerberus where Lucrecia begs Hojo to give her son back. Hojo only replies by asking how her latest experiment is going.(Presumably during the time she develops the protomateria to help Vincent hold back Chaos). Lucrecia runs off in despair saying she doesn't know or care. She just wants to see her son even if just one more time. Yet another reason why Hojo is such a dick.
she had issues, who ditches a hot classy guy that love you sincerely for an ugly mad scientist? and he was abusive, like hello? bitch is crazy, i can't even fathom what was on her mind, she's either brainwashed or being manipulated because you can't be that fucking dumb, blind and crazy at the same time.
Just an fyi, Vincents enhanced abilities such as his semi-immortality, super human abilities and transformations are from Hojo's experiments. Being infused with Chaos from Lucrecia only allowed him to come out of his deathlike state after Hojo shot him as he was slowly dying as a result. This was why Hojo branded him a failure after he was done working on Vincent. So while he lost Chaos after Dirge of Cerberus, he still retained all his precious abilities.
Thank God they're rebooting that story because the only thing keeping him alive was Chaos to begin with. Losing that would kill him and if he died on the end that would be a fitting death but man survives because reason. Let him keep Chaos as the protector of earth instead of its destroyer
Wasn't FF7 originally planned to be about New York detectives? Missed an opportunity to tie that into that aspect of Vincent's origins, but nevertheless really nice video.
So.. I never tried it out, and since nobody reported ever on it.. What if you play the game past the part where you kill hojo and then wake up Vincent. Does he still ask if you're going to find hojo?
This is a cool question, so I decided to look into it, and the answer is actually pretty interesting. The normal text is: Vincent: "If I go with you will I meet Hojo?" Cloud: "Dunno. But we're after him and Sephiroth. So, I guess sooner or later..." If you recruit Vincent after killing Hojo, Vincent still asks the same question, but Cloud says "Yeah, probably..." I'm not exactly sure why Cloud hides the truth, I guess because he values an immortal vampire as a potential teammate.
A few minor corrections: 1- You only need a Green chocobo to get to Lucrecia's cave 2- You don't have to wait till disk 3 for your second visit, you can do it in disk 2, just do 3 to 10 battles after the first visit and then come back to get the final weapon and the limit. :-)

It's mostly headcanon. I think fodder for it is their appearances and when you take Vincent with you to fight Hojo in Midgar when he says he's going to give power to his son Vincent immediately goes "...!" which is probably taken out of context.
I think this theory comes mostly from the fact that it’s very hard for many to believe that Hojo managed to have sex with anyone, which is still one of the greatest mysteries of FFVII

I think the Vincent as vampire thing is meant to be open ended. Vampires were human once in most vampire stories, and are sometimes portrayed as the results of twisted science. Also, at least in his chaos form, Vincent has fangs. It's also suggested that Rosa the Crimson is similar in that sense, having a potentially literal thirst for blood.

Love this channel, but I'd really like to see more of these "In-depth look at". Just rewatched them after a couple years and I think it's a really comprehensive series and I'd watch them about any and every character in the ff7 world.

These are pretty damn cool to waste time on. I wish I was more wealthy so I could give you guys more than enough to make 4-8 your full time jobs. But alas, I can't even afford my own cigarettes right now. But you guys are kick ass.
You don’t actually have to visit the cave on disks two and three, you just have to visit and then enter 10 encounters and return to the cave by the way
The way you pronounced Yuffie's last name made me realize there's an A after the R. All this time, I've been saying it "Kiss-are-gee". The way you said it makes a helluva lot more sense.
you can obtain death penalty and chaos as soon as you get the sub, you dont need to revisit it on disc 3, you just need to fight 10 battles and enter the cave again
When you realize Lucrecia was encased in crystal before Final Fantasy 13 was even a thought.... (and technically Final Fantasy Brave Exvius if you know about that game's storyline)
@@jet100a Materia Keeper is the first boss after getting Vincent, provided you get him as soon as you can. Materia Keeper absorbs fire attacks, so if you use Vincent's Limit Break, he has a 50/50 shot of healing the boss for a huge chunk by casting a high-damage fire spell. I also discovered this the hard way. Had to have my other characters kill Vincent so he'd stop healing the boss.
@@matthewgorton1747 Just played through that part two days ago. I learned my lesson beforehand when I faced off fire-typed Great Dragons before the boss fight. Maybe one about Reno as well because so many Reno roleplayers have mentioned how some players have only seen Advent Children and thus think Reno as some comedy relief - which is annoying to those who know that in FF7 Reno ranked high in the hierarchy of the Turks, if I remember correctly Reno was the second choice for the Head of Turks if something should happen to Tseng.
Vincent as a "Vampire" is done in the same way as the character Lemon in Shining Force 2. Neither are *Vampires* as such, although they have similar traits people today associate with them. They fall more inline with the traditional view of a Ghoul or Zombie.
yeah as for both ruby, magic counter/ KOTR, final attack/ phoenix, with two dead party members. also at least one with final attack/KOTR and a few counter attack materia on each character. it was pretty simple without being too outrageous.
This was brilliant. I've roleplayed in an FF fandom for a few years and some players don't know the characters too well. Instead of trying to explain some complex character backgrounds, this kind of video would be a great source of info for them. And of course who wouldn't enjoy watching videos like these, I'd be happy to watch them of any character. Have you ever thought about making a similar video about Kadaj? Please do.
+Daj TheUnforgettable I'll be making a lot of these, but they'll all be FF7 characters for the time being. If you would like your own video request we do have that option on our patreon page, we'd really appreciate the support and need the help, and if you donate enough to get a video request I'd be happy to make a video about Kadaj for you ;)
Aha, well Rufus and Reno are FF7 characters -winks- and I'll think about the Kadaj video. I have no reason why I wouldn't be able to make one myself too, hehe. Anyway, I look foward to watching more of your FF videos, you're doing great job.
The funny thing is Vincent being optional and there being so many easily missable steps needed to get him draws a direct comparison with optional characters in more recent games that get locked behind a DLC paywall. If FFVII was published by EA during the last console generation Vincent would for sure be a part of "Project $10."
Tyrant Hellsing and FF7 did come out in the same year. FF7 came out in January. Hellsing didn't get serialized until after that. Only connection Alucard would have with Vincent is that Hirano probably played FF7 that year.

Please do Reno or Rude, or even Elena! :D
Kiki Hyuga Hello Kiki! That is a great idea, I'll keep it in mind. If you want to see it for sure, just hop on over to our patreon page (link in the description) where you can support the show and get your own video request!

Sweetness, I shall do so :D
Kiki Hyuga Thanks! If you do sign up for the video request I'll be sure to send you tons of love in the video ;)
Vincent is awesome
I got Vincent's ultimate limit and weapon on disc 2. All I had to do was visit the cave after underwater reactor, then have 10 battles, then visit the cave again and there it was. Death Penality and Chaos Limit break.
So Aerith and Sephirth are half-siblings then?
sry if you heard this already but you dont have to wait till disk 3 you can fight the 10 random battles on disk 2 and then go back to the cave
Vicent: i hád a long list of regret
Love this channel, but I'd really like to see more of these "In-depth look at". Just rewatched them after a couple years and I think it's a really comprehensive series and I'd watch them about any and every character in the ff7 world.
There will be more! I've been too busy with Twitch and being a new father, but I will be making more soon I promise. Thanks for the support!
Oh shit dawg, congrats! Going to buy some merch or something to help out.
Vincent is Alucard
actually you can go back to lucrecia's cave after 10 random battles has being fought and won , same goes foe the time for a chocobo to mature and be able to mate .
These are pretty damn cool to waste time on. I wish I was more wealthy so I could give you guys more than enough to make 4-8 your full time jobs. But alas, I can't even afford my own cigarettes right now. But you guys are kick ass.
May you stop smoking. Anyways, those videos are cool alright! Also, even a dollar a month already helps the creator, so why not?
You don’t actually have to visit the cave on disks two and three, you just have to visit and then enter 10 encounters and return to the cave by the way
if he is in the remake i would definitely play as him once i acquire him
You had me all melancholy with the entire video until the METALKABUTERIMOOOOOOON part xD
The way you pronounced Yuffie's last name made me realize there's an A after the R. All this time, I've been saying it "Kiss-are-gee". The way you said it makes a helluva lot more sense.
I love these videos and your voice!
you can obtain death penalty and chaos as soon as you get the sub, you dont need to revisit it on disc 3, you just need to fight 10 battles and enter the cave again
When you realize Lucrecia was encased in crystal before Final Fantasy 13 was even a thought....
(and technically Final Fantasy Brave Exvius if you know about that game's storyline)
Gotta love Vincent
11:22 WHOA, Steve Blum voiced "Aerith" from God of War? OUTSTANDING.
Never... Ever... EVER take Vincent into the battle with the Materia Keeper. I learned that the hard way back in the day. -_-
Why not?
@@jet100a Materia Keeper is the first boss after getting Vincent, provided you get him as soon as you can. Materia Keeper absorbs fire attacks, so if you use Vincent's Limit Break, he has a 50/50 shot of healing the boss for a huge chunk by casting a high-damage fire spell. I also discovered this the hard way. Had to have my other characters kill Vincent so he'd stop healing the boss.
@@matthewgorton1747 wow, that sucks
@@matthewgorton1747 Just played through that part two days ago. I learned my lesson beforehand when I faced off fire-typed Great Dragons before the boss fight. Took a while to finish off my first encounter because Vincent's Limit Break kept healing it -.-
Still kept him in my party during the fight with the Materia Keeper though, and did fine. Just made sure not to hit his Limit Break and instead casted regular & magic attacks.
If ya would - Do Nanaki / Red XIII or Yuffie Kisaragi or heck even Cloud Strife since his side of FFVII can be a little confusing for some people.
Naoko I have a secret....Red XIII is next. If you want to see those other characters though please head over to the Patreon page and consider supporting us so we can keep making videos!
such a sad story
Is it just me, or does Vincent's theme "The Nightmare Begins" sound a lot like some of the music from the first Diablo?
Best party member theme in the game, and it's not even close.
yeah as for both ruby, magic counter/ KOTR, final attack/ phoenix, with two dead party members. also at least one with final attack/KOTR and a few counter attack materia on each character. it was pretty simple without being too outrageous.
Well vincent is NOT a vampire NOR a human
BUT A MANPIRE!
All the Vincent stuff can be done on disc 3. Go in cave with Vincent, fight 10 battles, then go back to get items.
A yo what's good, Hood?! Interesting and very insightful video. Thanks for uploading!
Basically a Hellsing tribute.
Tyrant Hellsing and FF7 did come out in the same year. FF7 came out in January. Hellsing didn't get serialized until after that.
Only connection Alucard would have with Vincent is that Hirano probably played FF7 that year.
He also played Wolverine most recent animated iterations
i find it funny this video popped up for me around halloween time. its october 12 at 3am and tomorrow is actually friday the 13th lol, even if this video is pretty old. vincent has always been my favorite character though, because i find his past so interesting, and i like how overdramatic and brooding he always is haha.. also he's just really cool. i find it hilarious he's more surprised about transforming into monsters than other people are, like other people expect it from him just cause he's kinda weird lol. i really like his voice from steve blum but im excited to hear how he'll be voiced in rebirth.. and ive never considered the glass of red liquid might have been blood even though ive always LOVED the "vincent is a vampire" joke. i think on one of my playthroughs i named him "lestat" haha, same playthrough i named red xiii "neopets" xD
I would like to see stuff like that different dialogue and scythe wielding that's why I think they should do a ff7-2 and 3
