The bit about Vincent transformations being uncontrollable and only happening at emotional points (particularly when he's angry) explains why his limit breaks are uncontrollable.
I'm surprised they didn't do more with it. For the creators first third person shooter it was actually pretty well made. Gameplay was fun and sorry was good. Let's beg Square Enix for another! :)

Dirge of Cerberus had the most interesting part of the FF7 universe to me. Deepground, the unhinged equivalent to soldier, the Tsviets, even worse than that with monsters like Azul, Nero and Weiss. And the Battle System was a very nice change to „normal“ final fantasy games. And of course the story was oozing edge. 13 year old me loved that game and I’m positive, if they would remaster the game, I’d be playing it back to back again

Whenever Cu'chulainn would change or "warp spasm" he'd take on a monsterous form with an uncontrollable anger. He'd change a sickly purple bleeding color and his limbs would stretch and bend unnaturally and most grotesque of all one eye became huge. FF almost always names things after pre existing myths and legend like gilgamesh, odin, shiva; they all have their names originating in old lore. Celtic mythology is more obscure and hard to pick out sometimes. Cuchulainn's power is referenced this way i believe. Also, if you were to see the Gae Bolg, which is used sometimes by Odin, that was Cuchulainn's magical spear he always dreaded to use. He was the only man who could wield or launch it, but if it landed itd kill whoever it hits gruesomely. the stories say upon entering a body the spear would not only drive itself as far in as possible, but the spearhead would seperate into hundreds of barbs. The only way to get the spear back was to cut the body of its victim meticulously. Just thought id toss in that bit. We all know about the other holy weapons like excalibur and masamune and longinus and where they come from, but i found alot of people at least around here has no idea about celtic myth.

I heard it somewhere in a video describing Vincent's creation process and even had art for him using it... can't remember where I saw it though. Edit: Checked the Wiki, found the early art of him with a scythe... Apparently he had two gauntlets back then.
By this theory, Vincent is the way stronger than Clould, and Vincent would have been able to defeat Sephiroth all by himself if Cloud is absent due to Geostigma. And in this way Advent Children would be one of the stories in Dirge of Cerberus (laugh)
i love dirge of cerberus... by that time its still rough on the edges, but if given more time it could have been really good, but understandably, cause square was getting a little bit out of theyre comfort zone that time. but nonetheless, i really liked the game and played it multiple times, it introduces us to a really great character too, in shelke..

wow, I didn't know Vincent was originally going to have a different backstory as a reporter. And, that backstory actually sounds alot better than the original backstory he actually has... well it sounds better for Lucrecia anyway. :P
I dont understand how such a praised and loved character like Vincent was not included in Dissidia or had like a game of his own (besides that Drige of Cerberus) people would flock to buy a game with him in it.
Vincent's sci-fi horror story was incredibly sad, but Dirge of Cerberus's gameplay mechanics including poorly responsive controls were far sadder. I loved the story from Dirge of Cerberus and how fun Vincent was as a horror-based character in the original Final Fantasy, though.

I remember opening my game case and seeing promotional material saying that Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode was available on mobile. I think it would have been interesting to play that game on a flip phone.
It will be interesting to see how much they potentially expand on Vincent’s character in the remake, since this time around I feel like they’ll have plenty of time to consider his contribution to the story.

Vincent would just be conflicted... or generally brooding. Hey, now that KH has added new lore one could retcon Vincent as being one of the secret experimental subjects of Ansem's research lab!
Did you not see Hojo surrounded by chicks on the beach of Costa Del Sol? Because I did. He’s, apparently, perfectly capable of successfully seducing women. He most likely manipulated Lucrecia all the way through their “relationship” and during the Jenova project, discarding her once her usefulness to him came to an end. Hojo is Sephiroth’s father.

You do know the ribbon was a tribute to jt being an item/accessory that could clear any illness... they wear it to try to prevent geo stigma but it didn’t work as shown by cloud... hence why aeris was nearly impossible to infect
