    Hello from Ontario, Canada! Wanted to thank you very much for making this video. It was my guide to troubleshoot my generator and help with reassembly. Greatly appreciated. Also appreciate all of the other excellent content you have curated. It will sure help me keep the old Touring car on the road!

    You mention the setting the generator to the neutral position by moving the brush plate to make the shaft have a tendency to go clockwise. Clock wise from your point of view from behind the generator … or for us viewers?

    Great video. I wonder how many caught that you had to remove the field coils and move them in reassembly?

    I have watched the video several times. I recently purchased a used generator that I want to rebuild. I have taken it apart and have found two thin washers (.015 each) that I assume are shims to eliminate endplay as discussed in the video. The thing that is confusing me is that these washers or shims were located on the armature shaft between the “big” bearing and the armature. In the video I thought it said to place shims between the back “small” bearing and the end cap. When shims are installed do they just float in the end cap or do they go on before the small bearing? I am confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I was trying to find out what solvent is safe for cleaning the armature and field coils. I don't have a solvent tank. Thanks for the great video.

    Do you guys take on work for folks that don’t have the tools to rebuild these starters/generators? I’m interested in purchasing a Model T….
    Right now we have a 1927 Buick Standard but want to add a T and an A to the flock!

      Thanks for taking time to comment. I think you can find a good starter/generator shop near by that could help with a rebuild. Good luck locating your new T.

    What did you use as a load when using your generator tester?

    • @modelt-tips6985
      @modelt-tips6985  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Larry, thanks for your question. I have sent an email to Nick to see if he has a suggested way of testing the generator before installing it in a car. I will get back to you when I hear from him.

      Nick said: We set the output at 1.5 amps. If you drive at night turn on your lights and set at a small charge rate. Just so the needle shows a + charge rate.

      Sorry, and you have to have a resistor to create the load.

    I thought that Model Ts had magnetos rather than generators.
