    For those that love the soundtrack to this game I'd recommend checking out the music for Legendary Axe II and Kyukyoku Tiger for the PC Engine as they have a very similar style to Dungeon Explorer.

    That opening track is one of the best retro jams.

    This game is a hidden gem, with one of my favorite soundtracks in history. I love this game and played it on the Wii and my emulator on my PC. I see a lot less videos about this game then I would like to see. 10/10, 100/100, best game, best game!

    • @annikasoderlund619

      There's nothing hidden about this game, it was advertised on TV in 1989-1990ish in the US and probably more in Japan. It was one of the earliest original properties of Atlus.

    PC ENGINE MASTER RACE. I love that synth sound and how funky, mystical and rocking they were able to make the tracks!

    EPIC title theme. also town, castle, dungeon theme, boss, and more! Great soundtrack overall that rivals and is probably better than Bomberman OSTs on the same platform :D

    I had just discovered RCA hookups on back of my mom's old 8-track player and her ancient '70's turntable. Since those two pieces of hardware were tucked in a closet I broke them out, then went to Radio Shack and bought a bunch of splitter cables so I could plug the TurboGrafx into both and have amped rear speakers and front speakers! I used to crank Dungeon Explorer so loud, it would make my vision blurry. Not the best for me I suppose, but sure did love those years of video gaming. ( I was still in high school, mind you - not some older geek living in my mom's basement)

    Some of the best TG16 music is right here, especially the electric guitar solo that kicks off between 12:37 - 13:03. Love love love it all!

    This game possibly showed just how well the PC Engine could sound given the proper attention. Would have loved to hear Yuzo Koshiro push the old PCE and really give something to truly rock.

    I just got this game yesterday in hard copy. No outer box, but jewel case, manual, and card sleeve. I can't wait to fire it up, and try it out. While I've definitely heard soundtracks that make better use of the PC Engine / Turbografx16 sound hardware qua hardware, this is really fantastic music qua music, and is a very solid use of hardware to boot! If the game is anywhere near as good as the music, I think I'm in for a really good time here!

    • @nashj.3238

      The castle theme is actually based on an Organ work by Bach. I can't remember which BWV number it had, it was in G minor though.

    this soundtrack is amazing! I really wish turbografx games werent super expensive

    • @Yuuretsu
      @Yuuretsu 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Instead of a few games you could buy a Turbo Everdrive for the same money and play all the games you want on the actual hardware, including community translations. It's what I did and I can recommend it to anyone. It's also completely legal as far as I can tell.

    • @Yuuretsu
      @Yuuretsu 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luckily I own most turbografx games. I'm such a stickler, I use the everdrive so I can keep all the ghames safely tucked away in their boxes

    Anyone who likes this should find Dungeon Explorer II music. Im positive it's made by musicians with actual instruments in a professional studio. It's great.

  • @JohnEvansChaoseed
    @JohnEvansChaoseed 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    With the music and some of the monster designs, it always seemed to me like Dungeon Explorer was coming from more of a sci-fi background than fantasy. More Alien Crush than Devil's Crush, if you see what I mean. It always made it weirdly intriguing to me.

      Yes, I attempted to beat it very recently on the TG and I deduce its just a waste of time and the game is sadly a piece of shit. The last stage is just impossible. The funny thing is, its not even the real characters, obviously it was changed for American audiences. The original was based on a pretty cool show in Japan. check it out!

    • @sQrLLZ
      @sQrLLZ 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Evan G I realize I'm hella late. The last stage is hard but if you can't beat that final boss no reason to not beat the game. Rather than dropping down into his pit jump over to the platform to the left at that drop. Walk to the far left side and wait atleast a half second then hold right and drop into his pit. Do not let go of right as your dropping. This was the first way I had to beat the game. It stun locks the boss for the easy win. Swear
