    I tried everything on my 96 pathfinder. New control arms, new struts, new steering rack. Now I finally understand. Not economically worth it to fix and dump a lot of money into a niche enthusiast car at this point. 3.3L engine is bulletproof though. I think that thing would run even in a zombie apocalypse

    I have a similar noise coming from the front end of my 1996 Nissan Quest. It’s probably those frazzling bushings! Thanks for the video!

  • @rickprime83
    @rickprime83 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I recommend also buying premium or oem bushings. I had gotten cheap ones for my '09 for 40 dollars for all 4 and the noise came back in about a year after fixing it.

    I have a 2008 Nissan Sentra vehicle. I had the same problem. My engine mounts also needed replaced. My struts and shocks needed replaced. Every single rubber boot has been torn.
    If you are looking to buy this car. Be prepared to have major suspension problems. EVERYTHING will need replaced.
    This mans car has excessive more rust than mine.
    My car has 74,000 miles on it and engine/Accessories/transmission seems fine.
    Side note: My car was driven in Kansas City who salts their road for 5 months a year and car was there for 5 years. I just purchased this car last year. Not as bad as Northeast, but not good.

    Seems like I can squeeze some thick rubber between the two frames to absorb the vibration and stop the noise. I'm going to try it. I believe it will work.

  • @franklinblunt69
    @franklinblunt69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    From the info you provided & that I may infer about this situation, but are those bushings seemingly engineered as a wear & tear component that absorb & alleviate impact upon other components? Good deal of effort, but a strategic location & possibly meant replacement while help extend operation of other components. Would have wanted witness symptoms beside conditions after replacement. Prolly similar for many vehicles (& people) maintaining those bushings, bumpers, grommets, nuts & bolts.😁

    @0:52 But if it is the Rear Spring Bushing, can I just remove the Rear Springs, install new ones (with new bushing)? Is it possible? That loud noise came on the Passenger Rear after I hit a hole or smth on the road followed w/very horribly loud sound. I thought that the Front Struts went out (one on the PS was reported to have a problem by FireStone, but at Dealer they said it is O'K. After ~ 1-2 years it started to leak, right after I hit that hole on the road). So I replaced the Front Struts, inspected the rear of the car, Rear Shocks looked good to me. But the loud sound on the PR remained. I've learned that the Rear Shocks can be blown in the way they don't spread out after been compressed, so it can be seen only after you remove them. So I replaced them (they were blown and didn't spread at all, so that job should be done anyway), but the horrible sound on the P Rear didn't go away. Really, like smth ready to fall apart. No rust in that area or anywhere in general (we are in Dallas TX). The car is 2009 Nissan Sentra 2.0L. Thank you very much for this unique film, where the problem w/Spring Bushing is addressed. I think it is the only film on YT.

      Yeah...I know what you mean. Very stiff. You feel every imperfection in the road surface and here in Ohio, that describes every road. I spend my time driving just trying to avoid any bump, hole or crack in the road. I don't think I will be replacing all of the frame bushings anytime soon though. Just going to drive it nice and easy as long as possible. Other than that it is a great little car.

    Not sure if it’s a bushing or my suspension, every time I go over a bump or turn left to right kinda rocking the car there’s this crunching noise. Like it makes me think it’s the suspension but I’m just not sure. Was under my car the past 2 days replacing rotors, calipers, and brake pads just for maintenance and everything else is just so rusted out I’m not sure what’s making the crunch. Left Cv axle inner boot was recently torn and it was leakin grease but it’s been crunchin before the grease leak and the right side cv axle is fine so I don’t think it’s related to the crunching. Just tryin to get an idea of replacing my front struts will be worth it because somethin definitely sounds wrong but when I took it to a shop they didn’t say anything about it.

      Everything up here in the northeast and New England is rusty crap (Eric O. of SMA term) and NO repair goes by the book bcuz the bolts, screws and fasteners up here didn't get the memos from the manufacturers to come off without a fight and heat, 😅😂🤣.
