You do realize this is how TH-cam works when you upload and release immediately? Higher Qualities are transcoded on the backend and usually take half an hour to an hour post upload to become available. I dropped the mic
I don't understand how there are so many people that don't understand that the video will be limited to 360p when you are watching as soon as the video is posted.
@@SirMsuni Well, people are expecting that since TH-cam is owned by Google, a big company that makes millions if not billions and has the processing power to process over millions or billions of requests. You beat me to it. This Anthony guy causes more problems than he fixes. This is the second video i seen him have issues because vlans are actually a thing.
RedStickRobb I certainly don’t blame Anthony for this, or anyone for that matter. If the guy who did not set it up in the first place is trying to upgrade, configure, or modify you are going to have problems. (Unless everything is very well documented and mapped like another commenter said). Networking is very complicated to figure out if you weren’t the one to set it up in the first place. Speaking from experience!
You're cloud key got borked because you corrupted the database when you pulled power to it. Depending on the firmware running on the Cloudkey they've only recently gotten better at not corrupting themselves on power loss. You could have easily recovered by setting up the cloud key again, pulling the last config from it and re-apply it to itself (all done through the admin menu by access the key directly). I'm sure at this point its too late of a hint but figured I'd throw this out there.
I was recently looking into ubiquiti gear, and that's the first gen cloud key that has that issue right? Isn't the 2nd gen much better, not sure if that came out between the time of this comment and now.
@@kairefeare If you have a server already it's better to just run the Unifi Controller in a Docker container. The only issue I've had is the included MongoDB instance sometimes decides it needs 10GB of RAM, so make sure you cap the container at 1-2gb.
You know what I loved most about this video? Freaking everything!!! I understand all the problems they were running into, and everything they were doing. I am and IT manager for a mining company and I engineered and built their entire network. The pains and the planning that goes into it is phenomenal. This was awesome, I would love to see more videos like this.
I know its a joke comment, but ubiquiti sets a random password for devices.. If you dont change it manually and you want to adopt back in to your system you have problem. There is only way left, Factory reset all the Ap's.
@@mmilesmm sets random password by default? that sounds awful, bankrupt making design. i might understand if it would suggest fingerprint scanner "password" on the beginning to be set, atleast you cant forget your fingerprints.

@wobbly sauce, Yeah after they said they reset the UniFi key and couldn't adopt the APs I was thinking the same thing. But really, backups for everything isn't a hard thing to do and it should be done. Ive got a crontab that runs daily that takes backups of various servers, networking devices, databases.. Stuff like that. Then I image the non VM servers on a regular basis. The VM images get auto dumped as well. It’s fucking impossible, I literally lost two days to make one s year ago. Tried different internet configurations and other crap on the host machine but nothing...
@The Infidel The issue is that minecraft servers just decide to not work sometimes. I was trying to setup a fairly large one for about 30 people, and it just wouldn't work. No obvious reason, just nothing. Worked on it for about 9 hours. Nothing. 2 weeks later I decided to just try to boot it and it magically worked, nothing was changed at all. Since then I've had zero issues.
I tried setting up a Rust server, took me a whole weekend, it works for like 3 days until rust came out with an update and messed everything up and I gave up
His "I removed all the VLANs... That shouldn't have caused any problems, but it did" comment made me die a little inside. The totally unplanned nature of this migration is actually pretty shockingly bad.
One of the things I like most about LTT is you show the no varnish reality. It's what you learn from group therapy, others expirence the same things that you have. You are not alone. I've lived this video multiple times, normally single handed, but with the help of the occasional phone call, and normally more time then estimated, things were working when people showed up to work. Normally when I get home, very late, my wife greets me with, "I hate computers".
Linus, I say this on a serious note. I know this is your company and you're the owner, but you need to stop moving around servers single handedly like that. It's going to turn into a problem one day.
GGMEHD Yep. My dad (who happened to be an IT guy) slipped and fell on a walkway that hadn’t been properly slip resisted yet. Knowing the pain he went through for the rest of his life legitimately made me emotional watching Linus do that. Not worth it, man.
Humans are stubborn F*cks they only learn when they experience MASS loss. Let it be death, or serious injury to themselves or someone they work with. All we and they can do is hope when said mass loss strikes to finally make them change there stubborn ways. Its not as bad as it could have been...........
He overall needs to stop doing most of the things he is doing. He has enough to hire people to worry about stuff other than running the company and doing the presentation.
The work place osha video on lifting had me in tears laughing so hard while Linus was doing everything the exact opposite. God those OSHA videos are annoying lol
Seriously, move the rack to somewhere else that you have more space or blow out a wall. You're a tech mega, and you're giving your datacenter the Harry Potter treatment.
I've been thinking the same thing since they move in that building. Get a proper server room, even if its for 1 rack. Or expand that room so at least you could add a 2nd rack down the road.
I think they have this set up because a bigger room would be harder and more costly to keep cool. Big servers run very very hot and need to be put in a temperature controlled room of it's own. On the other hand I don't see why they couldn't have made the room just a bit bigger when planning it out.
@@DeftPenguin Big servers run very hot? Since when? They generate warmth that needs to be transferred away but "very" hot? Transferring that heat is also easier with a bigger room.

I'm starting to think he's right, too. I wasn't on board the "Jake is annoying train" originally, but I'm thinking about getting in line to buy a ticket.
Jake suggested it may be a user error and he took it personally and immediately went for a spiteful joke. He was kinda offended, because he felt Jake undermined his skills. Pretty typical for a insecure nerd. No social skills. Jake's jokes are all in good spirits, even if they are edgy. That's why you like Anthony, because you're more like him, than Jake.

You need to hire a network admin linus.
You beat me to it. This Anthony guy causes more problems than he fixes. This is the second video i seen him have issues because vlans are actually a thing.
I'm a system engineer can I apply cause my god..
As long as that admin know's how to document and map lol. If he goes and it's not it may end up being worse haha.
No, it's more fun how it is right now
RedStickRobb I certainly don’t blame Anthony for this, or anyone for that matter.
@@kairefeare Correct, the 2nd gen seems to have corrected this issue. Not sure if they pushed the fix down to the 1st gen.
@@MarkBerberoglu Most likely would not and just have their customers "upgrade" to 2nd gen just to make a buck.
@@kairefeare If you have a server already it's better to just run the Unifi Controller in a Docker container. The only issue I've had is the included MongoDB instance sometimes decides it needs 10GB of RAM, so make sure you cap the container at 1-2gb.
I've been recommending these server breakdowns and they never seem to learn how to run a server with good habits. They seem oblivious
"Do you know the passwords for those"
"As far as I know, we never had one"
Linus's network password: Admin
This is confirmed.
I know its a joke comment, but ubiquiti sets a random password for devices.. If you dont change it manually and you want to adopt back in to your system you have problem. There is only way left, Factory reset all the Ap's.
@@mmilesmm sets random password by default? that sounds awful, bankrupt making design. i might understand if it would suggest fingerprint scanner "password" on the beginning to be set, atleast you cant forget your fingerprints.
redmanticore If you don’t know, that some random password is set during setup you’ll have hard time afterwards. But it’s better than just using the same password for every device on every controller.
@@Redmanticore it's a security method, but it isn't too hard to grab the password when you set up the system. BUT, if you didn't know it, time to reset the damned things and then potentially SSH into them to load new firmware.
"I removed all the vlans, but it should be fine" Said the Network Admin on his last day.
Yea. It happened on my home network. If I change this default vlan on my trunk should still work without problem.
5 second later: network not available. Cannot connect to the switch. Had to factory reset and set it back up.
Vlan, qos, laggs, port policy's. Dammit.
I usually set up the last port as an access port on the management vlan. Makes it a lot easier when the trunks go goof.
"Network admin"
@@allantinker6838 never hurts to have a backup.

This is probably the truest comment of them all on this video!
Watch the video of him building it and he explains it.
