Except for not labelling the ports.
I wired my entire 7 bedroom house this included the second floor (my 3100 sqft home was built from the ground up) against "KB Home" wishes.
KB Homes does not allow you to alter your home from the Model Home Designs and or Options they have even if you'll pay for it! So naturally, I was pissed off about this.
I'm even Certified for installing Fiber Optic and CAT 5/6 but that did not sway their decision.
I ran and Bought everything at Home Depot the second my home agent told me if can I go in tonight and set it up(the cablings) before they start putting up the walls the next day that I should be OK.
I came in in the evening and worked for about 12+ hours straight (up stair office, up stair game room(I have 3 daughters), all the bedrooms, Dining room, living room, kitchen, all the closets(server go in there), three-car garage, etc..) and just finish marking up the last CAT wires when all the walls started going up.

I just finished my internship at a company in the IT department and whenever I needed more drives the head of IT just kept on chucking me brand new sealed SSDs. Like from a magical self-replenishing drawer.

Hey networking is the tech that most people don't know! Even though it's the backbone of everything else, it is really overlooked.

I think this is a great video, showing the story of getting something IT setup in someone else's home, trying to find the patch panel, working out what switch to buy, all those little things that need to be sorted to make the big change. It's really nice to see this stuff shown, it's often edited out.

@@29subhra Unfortunately I am a Creator, CAD programmer, Artist (use to work for Disney creating 3D artwork), Inventor, And I save my DVD movies to my Laptop.
I'm already removing the 2TB HD and replacing it with SAMSUNG 4TB V-NAND SSD 860 EVO. And added another 1 TB SSD 3.1 USB. So once I put that 4TB in I'll have 7TB of fast SSD. Now I expect that to last me a while.

I installed cat6 when my house was being built back in 2004 to allow setups just like this.
Rye Hots i am very happy that the previous owners of my house installed ethernet in most rooms!
The former owner of my house ran a server, and was very security conscious so he hard wired CCTV cameras all around the house. So I am lucky that there are ethernet ports in most rooms of the house.
However he was very messy and the network hub was very hastily done by punching a hole in the wall with a tangle of cables flowing everywhere that looks like a flying spaghetti monster. He also never bothered putting lids over most most of the cable additions he did, so there are many holes in our walls with wires sticking out.

I think I know why there are Ethernet ports and cable hookups in every room. I used to work for an electrical distributor. When people were building new house, we would just show them that plate, with 2 rj-45's and 2 coax's and tell them, put this in every room now while the walls are open and you can have tv/phone/cable in any rooms you want. It only added like another grand to the price and also made it easy for the cable/internet/phone installer to hook it up without drilling holes in your walls and doing it half assed. Who ever sold this went a bit overboard with putting it in the bathroom. Though putting a tv in the bathroom wasn't as uncommon as you would think, but where they put it in her bathroom really made no sense.

Nathan Brown I probably just wouldn't have put one in there. But if I were going to, I'd put it in the wall opposite of the toilet, probably 2 feet down from the top of the ceiling. Then you could put a small TV there. Depends on the size of the bathroom. Wouldn't have used the basic t gang plate either, I would have used one of these recessed electrical boxes so you could stuff you wires behind it. If it was a smaller bathroom, I would put it around eye level in the wall, so you wouldn't have to break your neck to look up at it. This made more sense before we had tablets and smart phones, but now most people just bring there phone with them to the bathroom instead of magazines and newspapers. Hell I'm writing this from the bathroom right now. Lol 😂.
Also we used to knock wifi alot when I worked at an electrical distributor(unsecure,slow, didn't cover the whole house, though it was partially true back then), again this was before tablets and smart phones,also laptop we're still pricey and not as common. WiFi routers have got so good you really don't need wired connections anymore, though my desktop at home is wired to my wifi router, but they're in the same room and it frees up some wifi bandwidth for other devices in the house.
Well could have been made before it was decided which rooms is gonna be which. But still it's normal to put one in each room, not 4..
