Hi

HEY SAMUS If you dig alien and metal then you should check out our new alien/prometheus themed album Prometheus! \../
I’m jus curious how long they will last bro especially at that price
Technically speaking they're all China cymbals😂😂
Did the "Designed by USA" give it away?
I laughed way too hard at this lmao

The snare was a pleasant surprise! The ride cymbal has pretty weak projection....splashes were cool!
Yeah the ride had huge gap.
ride was definitely painful
The splashes and the 16 crash were alright. For the price very impressive.
Slashes sounded worth the price for sure. Other cymbals were really lacking.
The hi hats also, was expecting way worse
My man is not shopping like a billionaire
LMAAOOO
You sir..
Two birds one cup.... I'm feckin dead...🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
You have 66 thumbs up - I'll just add Samus to that, and we're done!

Me too!@@LottoDeath
HAHA, you made me spit out my drink on my keyboard. I was NOT ready for the "Two birds one cup" joke 🤣🤣🤣
6:51, this is exactly what I was waiting for the moment I saw the snare.
I've been thinking on how to get a "low-cost practice cymbal set" for my band's rehearsals to avoid using my main cymbals so much, getting this kit is a great solution!
No doubt.
The ride was my only issue with the set.
Why wouldn't you continue to "ride" them?
Unless you intend to break them, they should sound warmer as you go.
i really love mixing the cheap largest and biggest cymbals with the super expensive small ones and louder splash! lol cool sounding in metal and thrash. It is really smooth up top and subdued, then the tiny great splash sticks out a little more!
Damn, that snare is CHUNCKYY.
Yeah it is lol
Ironically I prefer that chunky snare sound than what most slam and brutal death metal bands use lol 😂
Ironically I prefer that chunky snare sound than what most slam and brutal death metal bands use lol 😂
By complete luck, my drumset which i got off a local online market, came with that exact snare. Could never figure out what it was til now. The screws for the throw and whatnot struggle to keep tight. Love the sound, personally recommend
Very powerfull sound on that snare
Dude- I just started drumming at an older age (almost 55) now about 2 months in. I got a 7pc Tama Ss classic and a Paiste 900 pack.
So I’m learning everything- well yeah EVERYTHING! Lol. I’m watching reading and actually banging on my kit a little.
I grew up (central coast) when Slayer, Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Nuclear Assault, all that was hitting- 1983ish.
But I’ll say 2 things and probably more: you are fast as fkkkkk! And skilled too btw.
But your channel sharing knowledge, toys, tips, all that is greatly appreciated, and beneficial.
Thx man !
Kick ass jammin’
So a very important point you have made even if it wasn’t your intention.. if you are a good drummer..you don’t need expensive gear. You just need to practice a lot. Thanks my man!!
Yes!
true. Professional recordings are often just triggering samples anyway.
"two birds one cup"
Epic! hahahaha
pretty sure my school had that exact snare drum and no word of a lie my teacher managed to get that thing sounding the most gorgeous and tight sounding snare I've ever heard. I even asked to buy it off him because it had no branding on it so i couldn't find it online but i now think i have lol
I'll never forget my elementary music teacher thought this ludwig supraphonic was garbage for some reason. She kept saying how it's not good and they need to throw it out. I wanted to take it so bad because it sounded absolutely amazing but she preferred the cheapy snare that came with their pearl export kit from the early 90s lol blows my mind to this day the pure ignorance of that woman.
>she
@@matthewcortes3786 ludwig supraphonic is a rly nice snare, it's like $600 lmao
Proves a great drummer (or any type musician) is more important than expensive gear.
you could have ten different drummers play that kit he's playing and have ten different sounding kits.
Not with cymbals my man. Can’t make them sound any better
Yeah drums can be modified to sound better. However cheap hardware that breaks down before or during a gig doesn't prioritize how good or bad the drummer. That's why a great sounding drummer finds it important not to cheap out, and instead invests in more expensive - contrary to your tunnel vision of drummers and equipment.
@@timanderson9466not really dude, it’s an electric kit, those are drumtec mesh heads. Sounds great though!
Honestly, these cymbals would work great with a limited mic setup, especially if the mics are shared by bottom end instruments like snare and bass. The cymbals have very little lows and won't compete against the snare/bass in the mix.
One thing I learned in the last few months is isolating vocals or instruments can make things sound so weird but in the context of the mix, it makes sense. I didn't hate their sound but I felt they were lacking until you played the full mix. I kinda liked how they sounded with the guitar. The snare was pretty cool too.
I just recently ordered a dm57 microphone... Was thinking of getting an electric guitar off temu too with my credits... 😂
Hey Brother. Can you Lower the Volume on the Heavy Metal Song and Play the Drums and Lade A-3 Cymbals So we can Hear them Better? The Heavy Metal Song was So Loud You Couldn't Hear the Lade A-3 Cymbals at All. Thanks Brother. Your a Great Drummer with a Beautiful Family
8" splash sounds pretty alright! Hard to judge the high hat when it is what it is on top with a top quality bottom, but what you made sounds good!
7:00. That is by far the most accurate depiction of St. Anger snare I’ve ever heard!
Can't be mad about that price point, especially for beginners. But gat damn, I do not like those cymbals at all. 😹
I came here only for the farts! 😊
Same, they were super dark and dull sounding.
You should go back and find the first cheap symbols from Z and pearl in the 1980s. Now those were horrid. These are pro sounding symbols compared to those back then. And they weren’t that cheap either.
Completely clashed with the sound of his setup.
Totally. They're fine for students and shared rehearsal kits, but I wouldn't use them beyond that.
5:17-was that a DankPods/Drum Thing reference? Samus, you bahhee!!!!
I think so
you can smell the quality on those.
Also the bird that got Homer Simpson in trouble when he was obese. 😂
It’s DRINKING the WATER 😦
“Where’s my tab?”
That snare is made by u m c. A very old co. The umc i have is from the early 80s. No tellin how old the others are. They made the exact same drum for tama swing star, c b 700, umc and more that i cant remember off the top of my head. They come in 8 and 10 lug. I have 4 of them and gig with them. They are tough as nails, and sound great. And being that they are relatively cheap , usually under a hundred dollars, good drum for the money.
The snare has a surprisingly good pop to it
That snare sounds massive, especially with the uv2 on there sounds like something you would expect out of a $500 dollar snare
I would DIE for my snare to sound like that!!!!
That bell on the ride is the best part of the whole set up. Really impressed with how well it cuts
I've seen Dave Weckl, Simon Phillips, and they are great drummers very highly skilled and I think you part of those top drummers! You rock man!!
I don't know how it's done, but those bass drums have that elephant stampede sound that I love.
Not a drummer, but love drums! (getting a bit old to start but ...ye never know!) Anyhoo - Dude - you are a born presenter! Awesome job.
66samus..... you are legend
Matt Garstka doe.
Samus makes any kit sound good
I was waiting for the blast beats. You've gotten faster my guy! Love it.
That hi hat combo actually sounds pretty damn good...
Those cymbals are perfect for emulating electronic music, like techno, house, or something that aims to recreate the early years from acoustic emulation out of those vintage devices that defined a new era on music
That 18'' crash has a pretty intense high-pitched ring but not bad at all overall!
these sure sound better than my first set, I tell you hwat
3:36 dude CHILLL🥲💀
That ride bell is actually amazing
You could totally use them on a black metal album considering most black metal albums have shitty drums.
However...
Every black metal band in existence should hire you.
66samus mario sent a new drum solo for 2024, its really creative. What am i saying? Mario is really creative himself so. The solo slaps. Ohhh yurrr!!!!
I was at a battle of the bands back in the 80s- one dude was literally playing on paint cans and pieces of metal. He would have *loved* to have kit like this. They sound fine (not amazing, obviously). I would imagine with inflation as it is, young drummers would love to have ok gear at affordable prices (although the cymbals may crack in a year, and the SD might rust, eventually).
I think those cymbals suck even harder than I anticipated. Even for the price.
Nobody has more fun trying out equipment than you do
Oh no fear the cymbal snobs
They know what kinda video they're clicking on and they'll still compare them to more expensive cymbals. 😂
@@MetalxMasters Get Glenn on this one haha
well , the meinls are fantastic..obviously better but that 18 and the high hat from temu were great.. and with splashes/trashs and smaller chinas you dont need b20 cymbals in my opinion..
Have-a-have-a-look! One pound snare!. Verdee verdee gord, one pound snare 🤣🤣
Surprisingly when I was young I bought a 16$ dollar cymbal that sounded really good from GP haven’t seen another cymbal that cheap and good sounding ever again
came for the cymbals, stayed for the snare
I stayed for the drinking bird.
I came on the symbols
that snare kinds looks like an 80s Tama Swingstar snare. I got one with the same dampener inside, and the tuning lugs kinda look the same.
I swear I'm not a Bahee cork sniffing elitist. But, those Cymbals sound like my Zildjian bargain basement garbage cymbals when I first started. The Zildjians were even cheaper than those trash can lids... Samus is so nice he just can't come out and call them shit! Good for you for having such a positive attitude. ME, not so much.. LOL..
Least they’re better than the Zildjan Planet Z’s. I made the mistake of buying the crashes and hi-hat, but I would emplore people to consider buying cheaper cymbals (but do your research first)
I mean.... Temu affiliate link.
Price / performance is surely pretty good tho?
@cromulence yes it is. Samus didn't say they were great or exceptional but they were good for beginners, which is absolutely true.
@@stillwelltjz6798 I believe beginners who are "Serious" about playing the drums and sticking with it should at least save up some money and invest in mid-tier cymbals. You might ask why?
The reason is that these and other lower quality cymbals are not inspiring. The sound is so subpar it doesn't make you want to run to your set and put in the time. Not only that, but they also have ZERO longevity. They are made so poorly that they will start cracking within a short period of time which means you wasted your money anyway.
if someone chose that ride over a lot of other commercial rides I can see the appeal. and honestly that 18 inch crash is SOLID. i hate the smaller crash though lol.
I must admit. The hi-hat isnt bad at all. I also kind of dig the 10" splash. The ride is not riding all that well but has a decent bell sound for a Designed by USA cymbal.
the splash is a keeper imo.
the rest are either symbals have too much high freq, and the ride is not cutting at all!
Good vid bro!
A generic snare drum for $69 and it still sounds 100 times better than the snare on St. Anger! 🤘🤣🤘
Lars was really out there (in the garage) bangin on trash can lids 🗑️
Those crashes are SHARP
My 6YO son LOVES the fart joke at 2:00 (and so do I). Keep fighting the good fight, Samus ❤.
Sounded better than I expected
That 18" crash sounds surprisingly good for a cheap cymbal. All those cymbals are of course more quiet, but still the 18 surprised me
I had a 12-inch splash recently, them Taco Thursdays are a bahee time
Love the splashes, the 18 and the 20!
man i love that ya feature the cheapest gear available to just about everyone ..thanks !!
In your mix the 18 inch crash sounded awesome in my opinion😊
I forget how fucking sick you are on the drums man. Amazing
Dudeeee, I love Alien. I totally nerd out on that
I had one of those snares on my late 80s tama swingstar.sold it immediately to a guy who after five yrs said it was still holding up.
Lo siento Samus, las aves me distrajeron... Oh yuuur!
I'm a complete drum noob but have picked up a couple of nuggets of information from DankPods - these are shockingly good - they sound so much better than the god awful DXPs he occasionally brings out on his live stream when he rolls a 1 (i.e. absolutely godawful).
P.S: Haha double kick drum goes brrrr.
The snare actually had great full thick sound. Impressive. I'd buy that. But I think that's a snare for a marching band
I got drum kits on my kawai digital piano that can come really close to sounding real in recordings!! I love your work and wonder if your still live streaming
yes sir, and thank you! :) live streams are still 3 times a week on Twitch
www.twitch.tv/66samus
I actually like that snare. It would be good for some things. Thanks for the heads up dude. Also, thanks for making me spit fanta across my counter with the two birds one cup joke. Wasn't ready.
the $10 joke was absolutely worth it lmao. 😆 i liked the splash cymbals!
I really liked the ride cymbal's bell but it cannot project in a mix whatsoever lol
the snare was really good with the dampener on tho, totally rockable
The 18" crash was a real surprise, all the other cymbals kinda dropped a big ol DANYAL 💨
really impressed with your double bass speed
Designed by USA is fucking hilarious
Snare sounds way better cranked higher. As for the cymbals, I think the 18” crash sounds the best, if I had to choose.
I wish, Temu already existed back in 2003 when Lars (or his engineers?) committed that disgusting sound crime on the St Anger album! 😂
@66Samus : Keep up your awesome work ! 👍
Those timu cymbals sound like the price is
But been a fan of your drumming long time. You slay it. Monster skills dude !!
thank you so much, my friend!!
You're entertaining as a water drinking bird. Fun to watch. Thanks
To be honest, they have about the same sound quality as most entry level cymbals but maybe a slight bit better than the Zildjian ZBT's and almost as good as the Sabian B-8's. If I was shopping for entry level cymbals, I would take these over the ZBT's and the B-8's because for all intents and purposes the sound is really just as good, and the price is a lot better.
They sound better than my old Sabian B8 cymbals from over 20 years ago, I wouldn't buy these cymbals. The snare sounded great ! Nice review
Did I hear Blind in there with the snare?
You should try out a Pork Pie kit, or just the snare... I'd love to see your thoughts on their stuff.
Impressed! Especially with the snare!
I remember like 26years ago I was part of my elementary school band (Iwas like 7yo) and I played with one of those metal snare drums, it was rusted in the exterior, to be honest we did not have much, noe of the drums were the same brand, color, etc.
As a guitarist for some reason I keep coming back your videos, this is a great channel! 👌
thank you so much Gareth!!!
Looks like “Slade.”
Hey @66Samus, I have a quick question regarding cymbals. Is there a smart/ correct way to hit cymbals? My main crashes are both cracked in multiple places (especially around the bow.) Any advice on if I'm hitting them incorrectly or if I have to set them up a different way would be greatly appreciated.
I'd say don't hit through them if you get what i mean. I cracked a lot of cymbals on the bow before i realized i don't have to hit so ''far away''. Very hard to explain.
I never learned and broke lots of cymbals because I am a hard hitter but some people do learn how to hit drums at 100% power and then pull back to the 50% power that is just enough to open up the crashes without them choking out. That's all it is, volume modulation. Makes the kit sound better balanced as well because you don't have the china drowning out the whole kit for example.
@@besticouldget I get what you're setting across.
@@fallenshallrise Ok.
It is usually the use of gorilla death grip on sticks, that mashes up cymbals and puts dings in heads.
Check the way you are holding sticks and aim for free swinging higher velocity stick movements, making use of bounces, rather than tightly gripped whacks.
You could make trash can lids sound great brother. You're freaking good
2 birds one cup my brain ponders rather that is vodka or water... We will never know... Those birdies could be having a good time. I wonder what the dialog would be like. 1:Like heyyyyy let me take a selfie!!! :joy: 2: Go home birdie you're too wasted... Samus first class's the bird back to china :joy: Temu thats too jokes. I like this content.
I’d like the sound of them that 18” really sounds good!
After watching the video, I was pleasantly surprised by all of the cymbals and also the snare. Both, the 16 and 18" crash cymbals seemed to reverberate for a long time after being hit. I suspect those would need to be choked, often. I would prefer the ride to be a little darker, but then I am used to the Zildjan Rock 21, which is my preference for a heavy ride sound. Overall, I am impressed with the sound, but I am still a little wary of how durable they would be when played aggressively over time.
The ad that played for me before the video also had Samus in it. The targeted ads are a little too spot on...
This " kit " would work great in the clubs that have the " chicken wire cage " around the band platform!!😂😂
The sound would probably not change much with about a dozen beers splashed on them. 😅😅
Band platform 😂lol. I think they call that a “stage” in the business
Hi-hat not bad. Crashes leave some to be desired. Ride cymbal itself didn't sound too great, but the bell of the ride I thought was the best sounding part of the whole collection.
Love the bigger splash. Rest of them I’ll pass. The snare is awesome. I bought the maple poplar one too and it’s great.
Also, if you see this, temu apparently sells b20 cymbals now. Maybe they aren’t there anymore but I have seen them!
They're not too bad. but the drummer can make a huge difference as well as recording equipment.
