    Hi Dr. Dray, I went to a dermatologist! I want to say thank you for encouraging us to go see dermatologists, and for all the products in the DBs. My dermatologist was very proud of me for using fragrance free products and wearing SPF 50! Even though my skin was already getting clear, the process has now sped up bc of 2 meds and a BP wash!
    I use a my Differen BP 5% Cleanser, Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Lotion, Ceramedx Lotion, Sunbum 50 Face Lotion.
    Then my Ceramedx Cleanser, Tretinoin 0.025% Cream, Ceramedx Lotion.

I've been learning SO MUCH with you! You take the time to demystify a lot of things about good skin care and make it so simple and fun! Before I was overwhelmed with all the creams, lotions and potions (and ingredients that were alien to me) that I always felt like a gamble picking up any product. So I usually never bought anything for me. But you've been teaching me a lot and empowered me to understand my skin and skin products better. Thank you!

    Is it safe to use the Ordinary AHA/BHA solution once a week if using a retinoid at night daily? Or should the retinoid be skipped on the day this product is used?

    • @marianne6373
      @marianne6373 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Aha can increase the penetration of tretinoin, and cause more irritation. But I personally use it on the same day, but wait a good while before putting on tretinoin.

    • @gunlovingurls9200

      I’ve been wondering this too. Even six months in my skin still gets irritated some days.

    • @oliviad6713
      @oliviad6713 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I too am now confused about this.. I can't remember if AHA or BHA (or both) just increase the likelihood a retinoid will be irritating.. or if they reduce the effectiveness. Any feedback appreciated!

    • @oliviad6713
      @oliviad6713 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marianne6373 Thanks Marianne. I don't have a problem with irritation, my oily skin is tough as an alligator! (but not rough :) ). So, it sounds like there isn't an interaction with AHA making the tretinoin less effective? I am wondering about the BHAs, particularly the SA (although the chemists tell me it really isn't truly a BHA, apparently it gets lumped in :) ) .I can't remember if the BHA inactivates or makes the tretinoin less effective, so they shouldn't be used at the same time. For some reason a thought I might have heard that somewhere. Right now I only use the SA in the AM for that reason.

    Koh Gen Doh, a Japanese company, had a wonderful black mask that worked very, very well for white heads and blackheads. However, bc it worked so well, the FDA took it off the market! it took several months for me to find out why: if a product works that well, the FDA considers it a drug, so it can NOT be sold over the counter. However, it is still sold opener the counter in Japan, so now if I want it, I have to wait until my husband goes to Japan again...🥺

    Question: (sorry I'm taking 2 turns here) Do some people always have oily skin? I yearn for the dry skin everyone is complaining about! I'm 58, use 0.1% tretinoin daily and still have oily skin. Will I dry out some day? TY!

    • @marianne6373
      @marianne6373 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remember, oily skin ages more slowly! Don't wish for dry skin! :) I use tretinoin 0.05% and salisylic acid every day. Still somewhat oily, but I don't have many wrinkles:)

    • @spicy13
      @spicy13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are some things u have to do less if u're dry. For example when I use masks or exfoliate I should do it max. once a week otherwise I dry out too much. For someone with oily skin they can do these things for 2/3 times a week which could mean if they have have blackheads (for example) they can get rid of it more quickly than a person with dry skin. Anyways, neither oily or dry skin is AMAZING and neither is combination skin (which I have). Honestly, if u have oily skin, u're still amazing. 😁

      Some people's skin just doesn't change. I'm assuming at 58, and if you have already gone through menopause that your skin wont change much at this point.

    • @oliviad6713
      @oliviad6713 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sky-fz7ku I like your user name! TY for your reply. I assume I have also, or am 'finishing up' so to speak. I had a hysterectomy at 52, was still having regular periods (we get kind of personal here, don't we, LOL, but it does affect our skin!) , my mom went through menopause in her mid/later 50's, so perhaps I've had the benefit of a little more estrogen around the last decade, but I'm sure I must be pretty tanked out by now! :) . Interesting. For some reason, I always assumed one would develop dry skin at a certain age. I guess I should be grateful! Different types come with different problems, but I can use any product without dryness, even the tretinoin. It does make me worry that maybe it isn't working well enough since I don't get that peeling, etc. everyone does, but I'm sure I'm used to it by now. I never did in the beginning.

      @@spicy13 Thank you Afsana for that beautiful reply! You are right, I am going to be grateful for my oily skin. Yes, I can use all of these things without a problem, and hopefully adding some of these can help keep my blackheads under control. I did think they were just an unpleasant side effect of having oily skin. You are amazing also, I can tell! Have a great day!
