I’ve been woodworking over 50 years. I cherish the most those rare days when you make something just for yourself. They are precious days that come by rarely.
Hi Natsuki, I am a follower of yours from Mexico, I love your work and I watch every video you upload to your channel but I haven't seen Shiro, your dog, lately, isn't he with you anymore? Greetings and please upload videos to your channel more frequently 🤩
Having followed Ishitani for nearly it lifetime, there is a confidence in the level of attention. Where the german might remeasure non stop, or the american plow right throw, He carries a steady hand, following his mark with a smooth confidence. His knowledge is amazing, but his simple hands skills are something else.
I wouldn't say so. I initialy thought this is white oak but it's evergreen oak as the description advertises. Oak has long fibres and is the opposite in structure and weight to beech which is short fibred.
@@didndido3638 This wood is also called white oak, in Japan, and is a Beech. Although it shows medullary rays like American white-oak it has a very different structure --without the open pores of Western oaks. Very well suited for plane bodies and tool handles. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quercus_myrsinifolia
Another piece of art. Thank you for uploading Natsuki! Btw that sliding table saw, blows my mind. I think it is a Kyowa, and the way it is set up so very different from western style table saws. With the slider on the right not the left.
Another brilliant build and another amazing video. I love the music at the end. Thanks for all your hard work. もう一つの素晴らしいビルドともう一つの素晴らしいビデオ。私は最後の音楽が大好きです。お疲れ様でした。
Beautiful tool looks like it works well and will last a long time. I’ve a high dollar Bridge City one I don’t use because it doesn’t work good . Thanks
I make my own. I use the little cutting wheel from a cheap can opener which is hard steel and has a hole in it for attachment so it rolls across the work rather than cutting into it to make the scribe. I am not a professional woodworker so I don't have the beautiful tools this man has but I am very good with my hands and seem to get some nice work done. I work primarily in quarter sawn oak and black walnut.
I'll second that - and I've got a can opener that's on it's last legs (hinge pin is loose, won't grip a can well)... guess I know what's happening to that gadget next.
I love the shape of that. At the end when you demonstrated it, I realized the little 'fish tail' is to allow a better pull-direction grip. The wood is beautiful too - I grew up in California and live oak grew everywhere. Does the cutter require any special steel?
He has a skin condition. It's been discussed in his videos already there was a message in the beginning of his past vids. Most of the time he wears gloves.
Hand-made tools can last for generations. I still use my Grandfather's scribes and wood planes.
No😅 b I
That jig for holding the cutter for sharpening is pretty slick! 👍
That little piece of wood at the end of the ruler is just genius...
Always a pleasure to watch one of your vidoes. You inspire me to become a better woodworker, many thanks.

This was really interesting to watch!
i really like that his wood is similar to beech, you can clearly see that it is well suited to me made into a tool.

Ishitani-san, arrigato gozaymas. Sugoi!
of all the tools that I see used, this one is always the most satisfying to see for some reason.

Nice rework of a broken plane.

Thanks for the video :)
Beautiful cutting gauge, but I really want to see the time machine he used to send that gauge back in time so he could use it to make it.
Hey there,
would you mind explaining your sharpening process, that would be nice :)
Have a nice time (:
Exquisite!
This is just beautiful! Can I buy this from you? I need a marking gauge, and it would be an honor to own a tool handcrafted by you!
Nice work. Can i ask, What was used for colouring the wood in the bamboo cup?
Very nice job, but you used a gauche to make one. Can you do this again without?
I notice he uses a cutting gauge to make the cutting gauge.
Any plans available?
What was the finish used, please?
what is the oil you use
Jacques from Canada😁
nice twitter logo :)
👍👍👍
shiro?
Shiro?
So... You need a gauge to make gauge ;)
Your safety disclaimer is unnecessary.
Take a better care of your hands, they're your most important tool! They look in bad shape!😓

Ishitani suffers from atopic dermatitis, but it has gotten a lot better recently. Chie
@@ISHITANIFURNITURE OMG, sorry i didn't know that. Hope it doesn't hurt! Wish you the best!
