    Hey Pete, the tank came out looking very nice with a good flat glossy finish, as you said everyone seem to like the Walcom guns as they always get good reviews. I've used my Slim Kombat for both base and clear, it does a great job of both but imo it's no better than my DV1 guns, tbh I've only used the Kombat 3 or 4 times which is a shame but I prefer my Devilbiss guns 👍
    My Slim Kombat is a limited edition that I won in a comp and it's the 1.3 HVLP but I wish it was the HTE, I've been told by a few people that you can't convert them from HVLP to HTE which surprised me as I thought it was just down to the air cap🤷‍♂️ thanks for the review mate 🙏👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi John, it's is just the air cap that is different, the tips on these and the Xlite are the same as is the center of the cap, the part with the airhorns, the outer ring is different though, bit like the Sata whisper that's says you can't change a RP to a HVLP because the gun's are different along with the tip thread, none of which is true.
      The DV1 is in a different league to these as you will know but they are around 125% more money so you would expect that, I was very impressed with this at their price point especially as it was a black Friday special they weren't much money really, the Xlite preforms just as well but is heavier but only noticeable after using this, just writing the tinter numbers on top of the bottles to make life easier 😉 😀 👍

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok that's interesting, so they are saying you cant convert these guns just to make you buy another one, looks like every manufacturer is saying the same so you have to do your own research to make sure. You got a damn good deal on those 2 guns mate so you must be happy with that 👍
      Yeah I did the same as you and put the tinter numbers on top of the bottles, I also put them in the case in order by number lowest first as it makes finding the tinter so much easier. I've recently got 10 refills for my scheme but only started one of them, it will be cheaper for you if you get the 250ml ones to replace the 125ml, only problem with that is they wont all fit in the supplied case so I got an aluminium DJ Flight Case which is big enough to hold all the tinters if they are all 250ml plus some space to hold spares, if you need the link to the case I'll send it over 👍 have fun mate 😂

    • @peteshobbies5383

      @JohnWD40TC02 One of the few quality manufacturers to not play the make you buy more was Devilbiss but they seem to be joining in now, with the Gti Pro Lites it was just the cap, now on the DV1 they mark the tips different but if you look at them they are exactly the same just one has C on it and the other tip has B on it, I guess at the end of the day, as you say, it's just a way of trying to sell you more.
      I'll see how i go on the storage side, the box it came in has spare space for about 12 x 250ml bottles as a guess so i may be ok. I've done the same, all in numerical order so easy to find, cheers buddy 👍

    I use a Slim Kombat Killer Kombat edition 1.3mm HTE for clear. I replaced all four of my HVLP guns with four Walcoms. The slim for clear, a slim Kombat Nero 1.8mm for primer, a Genesi 360 light 1.3mm for base, and a ego 190 1.0mm HTE for spot repair and small stuff, I mostly use the 0.7mm needle, cap, nozzle in that for cerekote which I do more cerekoting for people than anything and that ego 190 0.7mm HTE is so perfect for cerekote I really can't imagine there being a better mini out there specifically for cerekote

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi William, I do like the Walcom guns, the only disappointment for me has been the 190, I don't spray Cerakote so maybe it more suited for that, I don't dislike it, it's very good but imo there are better base and clear guns for the sort of money they are.
      Do you use air dry Cerakote or bake versions, it might be something for me to try, cheers 👍

    Greetings from the US Pete. Big fan of your extensive knowledge and willingness to share. Is the blue horizontal compressor in the background what you use with all your guns? Is so what is the rated cfm

      @peteshobbies5383  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David, I really enjoy using all these gun's so it's great to be able to share my findings with you.
      The blue compressor is 14.5 cfm and has a capacity of 90lts, it's linked to another 50lt to up the storage capacity, I have since got another 90lt which can run together with the other giving 230l and 29 cfm but for what i do 14.5 cfm is enough most of the time

    Hello, i know this is and older video, but I have question.
    I'm new to using spray guns and i got my hands on slim kombat hte with 1.3 tip.
    Following Your video. It says that u use 3 1/2 turn out for fluid and full fan.
    Do you count the turns from fluid screwed all the way in or from almost disassemble position?

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Mate, For Base Coat on this, I used 3 1/2 turns out. This is all the way in, so no fluid would emerge , then take it out 3 1/2 turns, it depends on the substrate and materials being used, of course.
      For Clear Coat, it's normally full fluid, so fully open. I hope that helps 👍

      @@peteshobbies5383 Pete serious question here, as I have mentioned I'm looking to get a gun probably I should get a dedicated clear gun and a basecoat gun and I will if I can afford to do so. I have some options and I wanted your opinion. I can get a walcom same gun in this video for $330.00 locally and on ebay for $200 more I can get the 360 carboni. However on ebay are a couple SATA 3000s(rp) in 1.2 which is rare, one is new in the box for about $500 and one is used and rebuilt for about $350. I could also possibly pick up a kiwami but I've sprayed with iwatas in the past and they are a pain in the butt if I recall. I assume the SATA 3000 should spray the same as my SATA 5000 (though it was a 1.3 and a real cannon to say the least) and I've heard very good things about the 3000 as a 1.2
      So, if you had the choices given, what might you pick? I'm assuming the SATA is capable of the best finish out of all the guns no?
      I hate having to do all this, but I got sick one day while apprenticing at a local shop I couldn't walk for over a month and lost my hearjng permanently on the left side. When I returned my boss had allowed some person to use my equipment and my SATA 5000 ls400 and gti prolite were destroyed...I lost heart at being a painter and over the years missed it dearly. So I'm keen to repaint my car Im just waiting to have a good gun or two buy some paint and I'm ready to go.
      So, what's your opinion really?

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry to hear you were unwell, That's the problem with people using someone's tools, often they don't look after them.
      I have no knowledge of the Sata 3000 although, as you say, they are highly rated, It depends what you want, do you want a good gun to spray your car for a reasonable cost or do you think this will trigger your love of painting again and you will go on to do more?, if the answer is the latter then of the sprayguns you mentioned the Walcom Carbonio 360 Lite has really impressed me, I worry over it's longevity but so far it's been fine, the Slim Kombat is a good gun but if the 360 Carbonio is $200 more i would be tempted

    • @johntiez4981
      @johntiez4981 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peteshobbies5383 you read my mind actually, I was never happy doing anything as much as painting cars. It's a form of art really, there's a lot to it and I fell in love with the process. I'm working in facilities and maintenance right now to keep the lights on you know but I'm not getting younger and really miss doing what I love. You know what I mean. I can get a used w400 locally for 250 I might swing that and a 360 carbonio for my clear gun. That would be less than $800 for both. But I could get a kiwami just for this job on my car for less than $200...decisions decisions..thanks for the input. Love your videos, keep them coming.

      @peteshobbies5383  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mate, They are quite different guns really, the Walcom in this video is a full size gun the DV1s is a mini gun so they are aiming at different users.
      This Walcom is a very good spraygun at this price, it would probably be a little big for someone doing small repairs where as the DV1s would be ideal with its very fine atomisation and small fluid delivery so not really comparable 👍

      @peteshobbies5383  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jaimerga That depends what you mainly want them for, if it's more bigger parts, a panel or two or bike tanks and fairings i would suggest the Walcom Carbonio 190 as its very good and puts out more material than the DV1s which makes it faster and more usable, if you are not worried about the speed the DV1s is the better gun, the atomisation is finer and it really is good, I think the Walcom is better value because you get 2 cups, a digital gauge and a spares kit where as the DV1s only has a tip for the same price, if you think you will want the other tip then maybe the DV1s is better value

    Im not a professional painter, currently using 2 older SATA spray guns with a 1.5mm and 1.3mm needle. Im having problems with the 1.3mm gun laying down base and clear coat, while the 1.5mm works fine. To be honest, the guns are 15+ years old and had plenty of jobs done before me ( my grandpa was a painter ). I'm looking to replace the 1.3mm gun, do you recommend buying this walcom slik kombat gun with a 1.3mm tip for base and clear coat? Keep in mind I don't paint daily or for a living. The gun would be mainly used for small repairs on family-owned cars. Within time, if I get better at it, id consider buying something in the professional league. I keep the 1.5mm sata gun for epoxy/sealer considering it works fine.
