- While Lexus didn’t create the luxury SUV, their RX certainly led in making posh, car-based crossovers so popular; a move that so many other luxury brands have now followed. They also brought electric assistance to the segment well before anyone else. But, it has taken them until now to get fully plugged in to what a hybrid is capable of.

4:41 “Lexus’ faceful of grill is in effect…” I love the subtle roasts! 😂
its awesome to see John !! the father of car reviews and testing !! thanks John !!
John is still making these videos, YES!!! John is the GOAT 🐐
Save the V6's! ✊
I'm getting one!
Awesome car
Excellent review! Been eyeing the 500h but could easily be persuaded by this. That price though, ouch!
Wow, that is a beautiful shade of green.
Prime Time RX
No thanks. I’ll keep driving my ‘99 Camry (or Cam-ray as John called it back in the mid-‘90s lol!) 3.0 until it falls apart. Then I’ll fix it and drive it some more. You must be crazy with these prices.
This is worth EVERY penny
Great video, I really like the new RX
Taking Only One
New car prices are the best true inflation indicator.
Why bother getting this when the CX90 PHEV exists! It's superior in very measurable aspect. And unlike this RX, the Mazda is a TRUE Japanese, fully assembled vehicle.
Mazda cant touch Lexus.
@@MrJusmobile Haha they won't even bother to touch them bc Lexus these days is trash! Aside from the LC500 and IS500, nothing else is relevant in their portfolio. The CX90 is far superior than any current Lexus CUV/SUV, that's a fact!

@@TheBrudol You stop trolling!
A CVT with paddle shifters in a Lexus ???
Best in class
Said nobody ever
This is ToyotaLex that wants to play with real and true luxury build as luxury from ground up ,not from Toyota parts bin.
This isn’t affordable - at least in Canada. It’s $99,000 and $1800/month to lease. And for that, you have to plug it in everyday and put up with a noisy 4 cylinder engine. I honesty don’t know who would buy this.
People who can afford it buy it. It's a Luxury car, not a Honda Fit.
It isn't affordable anywhere.
A lot of people will buy it, and it is not Toyota's fault your currency is worthless and the 4 cylinder is not noisy; troll
You are so clueless
@@allentoyokawa9068 I wouldn’t say it’s worthless. That’s the price. And you can hear how the engine sounds when it takes off. People can make up their own minds about that.
I thought the RX450h was from the previous-gen RX. Isn’t this new RX supposed to be called RX500h+?
Toyota company is smart for not ditching the car market in favor of the SUV fad. They were only cool because no one had one. But now that everyone has one it isn't as exciting anymore.
This is a mortgage . Lexus is number 1 in quality but avoid hybrids like the plague
Not bad for a Lexus.
"for a Lexus" when this thing beats all but the best from Europe.
well, its almost the same look as the original RX, but it's a plug in. but someone just needs to invent a PHEV version of the GX550 with a 6 or 8 speed automatic, and ditch the CVTs or eCVTs. because these CVTs are getting old. but good look for the PHEV RX
There is NOTHING wrong with CVT
@@user-tg8do2kr4v what are you talking about?
No spare tire or run flat tires, only a repair kit.
Meh…
blue haired car
Ironic coming from the woke one.
Will sell like hotcakes
Yeah if they don't have to stop production like they did with the TX and Grand Highlander which were also recalled. Troll
Definitely not a fan of tattoos.
Trashy
Boring dated design rx
Agreed. It was outdated when it was unveiled
Another DOA product from Lexus as usual
In the East Coast US, the new RX is selling exceptionally well. It is not boring or dated by any stretch of imagination. I have one, and I get compliments repeatedly.
@@sdkfz2519 because those buyers don’t know what luxury is. They’re blind to what luxury is. They don’t care about the car only the logo
@@naveenthemachineDrive it, and it's easy to understand why that is. One of the best luxury suv values in its class
@@KAYJAYSTUDIOSYT drive a highlander and just swap logos. Thats literally the RX
They have really gotten cheap with the cvt bullshit. Put a real transmission in a Lexus. WTF. No thanks!
It's an E-CVT not a "cheap belt driven cvt" ... planetary gearset.. no belts... they last forever... there's noting nice about shift shock
There is NOTHING wrong with the E-cvt and we don't care what you don't want
CVT in a Lexus?….No thnx
E-CVT. No belts. It's a planetary gearset and they last forever. The power delivery is excellent, no shift-shock 😊
This is not a normal CVT smh
@GeoBob-xf3hh - right!? Everyone is so hung up on the horrible CVTs from Nissan and think all are like them. Especially an eCVT, very different.
I wish Toyota didn't call it an eCVT, we are 20 years in and people still think an eCVT has anything to do with a CVT..."planetary transmission" would be best..
Either way, they are simple, efficient, bulletproof and it is the mechanism that allows the ICE and electric motors to work in harmony..
Another dead on arrival product as usual from a brand who’s not long for this world
They make Infiniti look a lot better
okay troll
This beats all but the most expensive hybrid suvs in its class. Lol
@@KAYJAYSTUDIOSYT in performance? Looks? Handling? AWD capability? Nope 😆
@@naveenthemachine Performance? Absolutely. Handling? Are we watching the same test? AWD? Do you even have to ask.
@@KAYJAYSTUDIOSYT performance? The fastest RX isn’t even faster than a rav4 prime or v6 Camry yet it costs over 70K and it rides on the TNGA K architecture, which is also a Camry platform. It’s still slower than the x5xDrive40, aviator, gv70, gv80, xc60 PHEV, xc90 PHEV
Handling? Nope? It’s among the worst in its class. Every single rival handles better and most of them aren’t bmws or Mercedes.
AWD? Nope. The 450h+ only has 60hp in the back. An xc60 PHEV and xc90 PHEV have 150hp rear motor.
