Hey guys! Happy Saturday! With so many models to choose from, picking the right Lexus RX for you can always be a challenge. But after spending a week with the first-ever RX Plug-In Hybrid, this model seems to strike the best balance of power and fuel efficiency. If you can swing the extra cost, this could be the better buy over the RX 350h and RX 500h. Which powertrain would you choose?
The short answer is none of them 😂 The 350 is as slow as a rav4. Any rival is faster and drives a lot better for the same price if not less yet they’re not marketed as performance SUVs. The 350h is still slow. Also why even bother with fuel economy since nobody in their right mind would say “If I want high fuel economy, I’m not gonna buy a Prius, I’ll buy a 70K luxury car.😱”? Luxury car buyers don’t care about mpg. If it did, then where’s the 50mpg x5, or 50mpg m5, or 50mpg x3m40i, or 50mpg stelvio quadrifoglio, or a 50mpg SRT, or hellcat, or c8 corvette? Exactly… they don’t exist. Why? Because at this price point, fuel economy does not matter. If you want the ultimate luxury of fuel efficiency, there’s a Prius or Camry hybrid with your name on it. The 450h+ is still slow but way overpriced. $70k and you only get 300hp… remember that you have to go for this version to be as fast as an xt6 v6, qx60, nautilus, base ford explorer 2.3, etc. so you’re basically paying $15-$30K more just to match the performance of those rivals. A comparably priced RX to those rivals will be significantly slower The 500h is still slow but also overpriced. $70k and the performance isn’t even better than a rav4 prime or v6 Camry yet it costs 30K more So unlike the competition, there’s no recommendable powertrain. In the x5, the 40i is enough. You don’t even need the v8. In the aviator, the 3.0T is the only engine but it’s coincidentally a great powertrain since it excels in performance and power. Any engine is great in the gv70 or gv80 since they also excel in performance and power.

Yeah I wouldn’t really call the RX performance oriented whatsoever. If you want performance, I think go elsewhere to other brands. It’s not slow by any means, plenty enough for the average person but if performance is what you want, you’re better off skipping most Lexus cars.
@@naveenthemachine Last time I was in a Lexus RX, I found it pretty comfortable. Luxury? It was fine but nothing super luxurious, I’d call it premium as opposed to luxury. Performance? Well I already explained that before in the previous comment. If you want a good blend of all 3 (performance, comfort and luxury), then go elsewhere is what I say. But if performance isn’t too important to you, then you’ll be perfectly happy with the RX, depending on if you like the rest of the car of course. Realistically, it’s personal preference. And by the looks of things, the RX is a perfectly acceptable car because it seems to be selling pretty well. If it was garbage, everyone would see that and not buy it right? It’s not perfect but it appears that most people who are actually buying these aren’t complaining and are happy.
That was very underwhelming. I don't know if it's because you're such a square (bland) reviewer - just regurgitating marketing tropes for this vehicle like a robot. Soulless. To be fair, Lexus really dropped the ball as of late in regards to lackluster quality issues - just overall disappointment with the direction of the brand. Either way, tragic.
Agreed. Sofyan a great reviewer but the car itself is subpar at best. Don’t know why he wasted his time on this uncompetitive vehicle. I as everyone’s favorite Toyota hater on the internet predicted the RX would be such a disappointment.😂I’m so glad I was right😁 yet everyone else called me delusional even though I own a Toyota 😂
Why bother creating this SUV when they only make 2 monthly available per dealer. Plus, try to find one in a color that's not white, black or silver. This beautiful Nori green with Peppercorn interior is impossible to find. You can't order a Lexus either. You have to accept whatever Lexus decides to produce and send to dealers.
I agree. I own a Rav4 Prime but I wouldn’t mind having the luxury of the NX. However I never see the 450h+ anywhere and they don’t seem to be coming down in price. Primes are easier to spot, and I see a lot of them. One of things I really like about the NX is the colors. The Prime only comes in standard colors and I don’t really love any of them. An NX in blue would do me well.
Now a days, $70-$75k buys a nice car, not sure we can call it luxury. Well appointed for sure. I sat in a X5, MDX Advance and so far, both cars are well appointed but they dont reach luxury levels. I am going to test drive a RX but with base model having 4cyl turbo engines, is hard to consider a 4cyl Lexus as a luxury automobile.

Yes, when it comes to technology and the competitors Lexus always come up short, they always wanted to hike the price with their competitors but short on equipment,
Not just technology. Just about every single category you can think of. Design, interior, materials, features, comfort, performance, driving experience etc
Strikingly handsome vehicle but to me the Germans even the Koreans does better interiors and maybe just maybe if Genesis introduce some sort of electrification to their whole luxury lineup there might be some concerns for other luxury brands.
Genesis has the electric gv70. I’ve seen it in person and the interiors alone are better than all current lexus products
@@GC-kk4etThe only interior that’s better than genesis from Lexus is the lc500
beware, run flot tire on rx450 lux, nosy and bumpy when driving over roads with tar cracks and other defects. I voiced my concerns with Lexus , I was told to let air out tires. I purchase the 450 thinking that the 350 and 450 were the same, not aware about the run flat tires.
76k and 0-60 in 6.9? 😂 Def a no from me. Some hybrids are in high 4 to low 5 second range and costs way less.
5.9 but yeah it’s still slow. There are Toyotas that are as fast but significantly cheaper
Yeah I wouldn’t really call the RX performance oriented whatsoever. If you want performance, I think go elsewhere to other brands. It’s not slow by any means, plenty enough for the average person but if performance is what you want, you’re better off skipping most Lexus cars.
@@austin.2716 if you want performance and comfort and luxury don’t get Lexus.
Can we be honest, who is popping their hood constantly to complain about a prop rod
Lexus’ grill always reminds me of a Xenomorph
A base Rivian R1S in Forest Green isnt far off this price...
You can get the 350h for like $20k less and even that is still overpriced
I actually like the nx better
Same
@@Molishious the prime is beautiful
I like NSX more
I don’t know ANYONE who has bought one of these.
I just don't care for plug in hybrids. Hybrids? Sure. But i just thinkits odd combination.
only people who dont know cars would buy this lexus for that price
Not a fan of lack of firm buttons at all
I think your wearing those shoes in almost every video now just to irk me 😮....
WINDOW TINTING---why do the windows look black????? Are they tinted from the factory??????????????
Yes they are

Ask yourself. Do you want the x5 that’s a real luxury car, or do you want the fancy rav4 prime with ugly lipstick
@@naveenthemachine My wife has a 2021 Rav4 Prime. It is great in electric mode with close to 50 miles of EV range. But it is very noisy on the highway even in EV mode. And once the engine turns on (which is rare), you can't hear yourself think. I have a BMW IX but thinking about the X5 50e.

Meh. $76K is a poor value for this. Buy one from circa 2016 with low mileage for $20K and it'll probably outlast this overcomplicated powertrain and probably drives better too.
I've read the many disparaging comments of this person called Naveen. Can someone tell me if this lady is in her senses?😳
That is a question which we will never truly know the answer to, although I think most would assume not 😂,
I think it's obvious from Naveen's comments that she banged her head as a child. 🥴
So...that's basically rav 4
Wait did he say you need to pay a subscription to use Andriod auto and Apple car play?
Why is this review coming out sooooooooo late??
Where’s the quad exhaust…? Tf?

I rather have they hybrid than have to plug it in
A plug-in hybrid will also operate as a standard hybrid, no need to plug it in.
$76K for a CVT is for suckers! no way in hell
Toyota out of their mine 😂😂
the interior color reminds me of the worlds ugliest color - pantone 448c
This is completely ridiculous. Over 75k for a peony 4 cylinder engine!! You can buy PHEV X5 which is a far superior luxury car than this. Lexus has some balls charging this much. Good luck selling it. People with that much money will go for real luxury brands.
Still outdated tech with no real technology upgrades compared to GLE& X5. No luxury interior wood trim . Plus Lexus AWD is weak compared to Audi & BMW. Priced too high .

CVT? Nah, forget that crap!
It’s actually an eCVT, not regular CVT. This specific kind found in most Toyota and Lexus hybrid uses planetary gear sets and not belt driven like conventional CVT.

@@CatNMrDJYup, that’s the same exact transmission used in the RX 350h and 450h+ (from video).
None of the Toyota hybrids use traditional CVT, it’s either eCVT that acts as a direct drive transmission, or a traditional automatic transmission.
But it acts like a cvt so it’s technically still a cvt
