I would choose the 2025 Camry - even in it's base model - Camry LE hybrid. It is extremely well made in every respect. The size is great for most families. And it will last for a long time. Thank you for offering such a good program! As always, it is appreciated by many!
Subaru crosstrek is one of the best cars I’ve ever had. I recently purchased a Porsche macan and my husband drives the crosstrek now. I still pick that car to drive over the Porsche sometimes. I feel like I can drive in any condition. It’s comfortable and easy to drive. The only limit I’ve recently came across is the towing capacity is quite low- only 1500lbs which limits even pulling a lot of pop up campers. I also owned the Toyota Corolla cross for about a year and it was a good car. Has everything you would need. Engine felt like it was struggling a good amount of the time though. The Corolla Cross should run forever.
I see a lot of new cars on the road and always wandered how they could afford them. Then I decided to buy a new car, after saving a decade, negotiating with every car dealer in us, borrowing money due to increased prices, wanting 2800 off, settling for 2000 off, fly 1000 miles to get a deal, staying in hotel on the way back, settling for a car with 1000 miles, filling out the paperwork myself, I finally have a base model new car on SS income. I am very happy!!!
@@NateNoorulBN sadly the old Mirage is no longer available as a new car. The Nissan Versa, however, can be had for under $25k. Nissan Sentra is the same.
As far as I know I was the first cab driver to buy a Toyota Camry for use as a taxi...2006 in New Rochelle New York....I don't regret it a bit....now look around the are all over the place... I'm thinking on buying a Prius... unfortunately the new Prius has this funky way of opening the back doors....it may be difficult for the passengers... especially the older ones....I might go for a Corolla hybrid instead
If you're thinking Prius, for a Taxi, I'd go with Rav4, or the Honda equivalent, hybrid. Maybe even a Civic Hatchback. The Corolla Cross isn't that roomy at the back. Or hell, the new Camry hybrid, why not, must be around the price of a Rav4 / Prius. A Prime version, for taxis... Probably not that useful, and eats the cargo space. But definitely not the new Prius. It's very low and awkward for some people, not much headroom at the back also, the cargo space is not great. In Europe, the Rav4, but also the Corolla Touring Sport is the vehicle of choice for taxis / Uber, it's got a bit more room at the back than the Corolla Cross / Regular, and also good cargo space.
Really EXCELLENT list. I sold all these brands and l concur that one of the best buys out there, is the Subaru Impreza which gives you a lot of satisfaction for a reasonable price. And of course, Toyota Corolla: it's a masterpiece of the balance of price, mpg, performance, comfort and safety. We WILL buy the Corolla Hatchback as soon as it becomes a hybrid.
What is your professional opinion on Nissan Versa? I have one. Over 4 yrs now. NO problems (except new battery). 2018. I plan on keeping it until I retire. I live in Austin. I drove it to California and back 2 yrs ago. NO problems. Only one minor complaint. small cargo space. Other than than. GREAT VEHICLE.
If the theory that changing the nissan cvt fluids frequently shown to make its reliability better (let alone acceptable)? Maybe also I'd the drivers of nissan cvt vehicles also avoid accelerating appreciably or diving fast. And of course sell the thing as soon as the warranty is up.
Excellent top! It is obviously related to the reliability rankings and to the low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) too. For this pricing interval, Toyota, Mazda, Subaru and Honda are great choices - plus Suzuki and Mitsubishi outside North America. Well done!
How about doing an episode on cars that are least likely to rust? For those of us that live in a wet climate our vehicles usually get scrapped due to rust, even when everything else is still in good working order. The manufacturers use thin steel sheets and only galvanize one side, so you car rusts from the inside out. Cars are just so expensive these days that cost of ownership needs to account for rust eating away at your vehicle.
That car has a lot of miles. You might do better with a lower mileage Corolla. Have a mechanic check it oil, radiator, transmission, etc. to see if it is a good buy
I'd easily agree with the reliability of the Toyota models features their affordability comes into question when you learn how their price is getting increased at a quite ridiculous rate it'll get to a point where Buying a Toyota is entirely pointless when you can just give a few extra Ks to get a Lexus
In my neighbourhood, Toyota, Honda, Subaru and Mazda dealers all have pre-owned vehicles at about 22 to 25,000 CDN. This includes Corollas, Civics, Crosstreks and Mazda SUVs They are 2020 ish, some with only 60k on the clock. Check them out before you buy new
Topgun review Shari. 🥇 Factual and honest as usual. ✅ 2025 Toyota Camry hybrid is incredible value. Especially for old folks. Canadians are incredible 🇨🇦
Thank you, I feel like all your recommendations are correct. Just to add, I feel like cheaper Honda cars are overvalued, and Mazda cars are undervalued. I used to have Honda Civic, and it was not that reliable. Also, if price is your main decision factor, I would go for some cheaper Nissan or Kia model. They are not that good, but the price differential is like 8K, and that is enough to change CVT twice, which is very unlikely.
Your comment is good, except that Kia is not a good option, because it is not reliable. Nor is Hyundai. Korean cars' TCO is higher than for reliable Japanese cars, despite the lower acquisition price. But if some people are dumb enough to waste time, but have a lower purchase price then it is good for clunkers' sales.
I just came back from SE Asia where I noticed that the Toyota Raize SUV has become extremely popular. Does Toyota have any plans to release this vehicle in North America?
it doesn’t make sense for NA. 1.2L NA 3cyl will not survive North American over speeding culture, whereas it does fine in Asia where highways usually top off at 100kph.
It wont be happening anytime soon, different market for different needs, raize has 1000 3 cylinder turbo, american loves their big suvs with big horsepower. They wouldnt want to drive a small cuv with less than 4 cylinders
I went with the CC AWD Hybrid. For the engine noise! So I know when it's running! You NEVER feel it! Outstanding acceleration, -7s 0-60. 70+MPG, though I always hypermile. For another $2k+ I could have got the better instrument display and all the shitz I don't want. LE...😊
