Dom I love the Taylor and Martin of Ample Sound. Listening to them very intently shows that this company have painstakingly sampled every strings and frets. Like for example an open A string is different on 5th fret A. That is a great sampling. Some brands doesn’t have that detailed sampling. Love this episode Dom. Not being a guitarist myself, but having most of my songs sit in guitar-based styles, I've used many virtual guitars over the years, and I currently have all the MusicLab Real series instruments, most of the NI Session Guitarist series, all the UJAM VG series, most of the Acoustic Samples guitars, Chris Hein Guitars, and a few others. My current favorites for playing tend to be the Acoustic Samples Telematic (and also their GD-6 and Sunbird for acoustics), the NI Picked Acoustic (and Electric Vintage and Sunburst Deluxe, though I tend to prefer Telematic over Electric Vintage for Tele), and some of the Real series, depending on the sound needed. UJAM VG-CARBON is also super fun when the musical style fits. Strummed parts are the toughest ones, though, and I mostly end up using UJAM (especially AMBER) and the NI Strummed Acoustics for that. If I'm doing parts with mixed playing and strumming, I'm more likely to go with the Real series. The really nice thing about the Acoustic Samples instruments, though, is how easy they make it for a keyboard player who is at least somewhat used to emulating guitar playing on a keyboard to sound more realistically guitar-like without having to deal with lots of keyswitches. I have to say, though, that I was especially impressed by the Ilya Efimov Nylon in this video. Might have to check that one out if I need something better on the nylon front in the future (I mostly use RealGuitar for that these days).
They did a fantastic job with the Taylor guitars. Taylor's are naturally bright and that really shows in the Ample Sound T-Guitar and OTS Taylor sample libraries.

I recently bought all Ample Libraries from Ample with Edu discount. I find them useful to try out articulations of difficult pieces. When you double it with a real guitar it sound very interesting.

Forget about library A or B, the real hero here is Dom's playing. He'd make a sampled pinched Ethernet cable sound as good as Paco de Lucia on steroids ;)
I loved each of those and they each have (and deserve!) a place in the tonal paint box...but admittedly I have a soft spot for nylon, so the Ilya Efimov and EastWest's Gypsy were my top two. Great tutorial and playing! I've had, since a while, Real Guitar 5 for acoustic and Vir2 Electri6ity for electric guitar, with Amplitube 5, and I'm surprised not to see any of these in your gallery since when I purchased them I thought they were n.1 respectively. Vir2 was expensive, but with time I also understood that I needed more sounds for different genres, and Electri6ity has 8 guitars. For instance I like to double guitars hard panned, but with different guitars, and I suffer that, for acoustic, I only have Real Guitar (that has a doubling option but it's the same sound). In your video I fell for Ilya Efimov guitar. As a keyboardist, I also purchase guitar loops (e.g. Ueberschall) and in the leisure time I exercise myself to match those with the sampled instruments I have. I then may expand the part playing the sampled guitar and keep the original loop in the refrain.
Hi Dom, great video! All the Amplesound guitars use the mod wheel as a manual vibrato wheel, just "shake" the mod wheel like you would do on a guitar string, cheers and keep up the good work!
Efimov is my favorite…user friendly interface. Key switches are adequate and up to purpose. Position key switches are so useful as well. Only problem about is vibrato control and lower voices do not sound that much realistic. But there are some tricks to solve these for sure. Anyway, all these libraries should always be used and considered for a realistic demo to avoid a jobless future for music world.
The nylon guitar sounds fantastic, along with your playing (which adds to the authenticity of the samples). The free version of the Ample Martin acoustic guitar is also very nice. The free version doesn't have as many options for tweaking the sound or playing parameters, but it's still very playable.

I didn´t know the Efimov nylon and it sounds really amazing, you miss the Orange Tree Sample and Shreddage electric guitars, but this is like cheating because you are such a beast playing guitar on keyboards that anything will sound great
My faves of what you showed are the Amplesound. Outside of what you showed, Orange Tree Samples electric guitars are my favorites, especially their “evolution rock standard” and “Evolution stratosphere”. They have amazing built-in effects and great playability. My favorite acoustic is the “Nylon sky“ which is a “sonic extension“ for Omnisphere ... truly incredible, but expensive if you don’t already own Omnisphere.
Most importantly the orange tree libraries support hammer ons and pull offs on adjacent strings. Which is unrealistic but when playing live or tracking, it sounds very very good. Afterwards you can automate the fretting position to make it realistic. With ample sound you are stuck with a fretting position unless you change it manually. HOs and POs won’t work if notes are not on the same string.

I would be interested in what you think of all the guitar amp libraries out there like Guitar Rig 6 or similar libraries that are out there. I find that the Shreddage line from Impact Soundworks is awesome, I work with the Serpent and Abyss models and put them through various amp and cab simulators. I still love Orange Tree samples for electric guitar because it has realistic articulation...and the release sound pretty real...but I don't like the sample...maybe if combine with ample sound samples with the articulation from orange sound it will be the best vst guitar ever...you should check out

Dearest Dom, as always thank you for your super enlightening video. Now may I ask, as I know you've been producing metal \m/ music for a bit when you were younger (you said it in an interview ;) ) I'd like to know if you got any electric guitar metal plugins - and of course, amp simulators, and how you use them ? So far, the ones I'm using for my own practice are mainly Prominy V-Metal and SolemnTones Odin 2 with the help of AuralDSP plugins. My goal is to reach a type of SepticFlesh kind of sound - here again, Greek people are so amazing, aren't they ? *Wink wink*
Oops again, Al Di Meola is using a pick and Paco De Lucia uses fingers while hitting the wood of the guitar near the end of the first synchronized virtuoso part. Both great guitarists, however in my opinion, compared to Al Di Meola ,the way Paco De Lucia plays is effortless, reminding me of Martha Argerich and Yuja Wang Chick Corea and Michel Camilo on the piano. They all have great musicianship and technique.
That Ilya Nylon is insanely good sounding. And thanks for the Gypsy reminder..I have that library and forgot about the guitar.: )

If you set your Mod Wheel range to 12 in your DAW, the bends sound so much more realistic. You should give it a try.
