    Very clear instructions and it's sure not easy to shoot a vid in that small glove box space. Short story: I had previously learned a lesson with my 2017 Mazda 3i lease. When I took the car in for scheduled maintenance, the dealership pulled out the "dirty" cabin air filter and banged me for $40 for a new one! Taking the air filter out and cleaning it for 5 minutes is now well worth it. However, my 2019 Mazda 3 has a much different release mechanism than the 2017. Watching your video helped me release the air filter without taking a damn screwdriver to it and breaking it :) Thank you for taking the time to make this vid!

    Thank you very much for this! Not quite as easy as the Gen3 Mazda3, but still doable. I removed the damper on the right by mistake before watching this video and it was a bitch to put it back!

    The tricky part of this is getting the damn filter out. Pulling both tabs towards each other isn't easy in such a confined space. It was so tight on mine, I couldn't do it no matter what I did. Instead, I used a flat head screwdriver to hold top tab down and then some needle-nose pliers to grab the bottom one and simultaneously pull up & out. Worked like a breeze then.

    Hi , Im wondering if you know how to do wiring through the firewall on this model?? could not find any information on this online

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jun Yan Soh if there is not a dedicated firewall hole with a rubber garnet protecting it then you will need to see if you can access the main harness or an existing wire that already goes through the fire wall. If all those methods don’t work then you will need to drill your own hole, small enough for the wires to go through and small enough you can use a rubber garmet to cover the hole once the wire is run through.
      Before drilling make sure to check both driver and passenger side before doing so. Hope that helps you! If you could be me by subscribing I would really appreciate it! Thank you.

      @@HandsOnDismantler do you mean to be change by mazda or someone with experience?

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesl1297 it shouldn’t need to be changed ever, it’s not even really a “filter” so to speak it’s more of a strainer to block particles. Some manufactures do use actual filters but they’ll last the life of the fuel pump. Some are even built into the fuel pump and can’t be changed without tearing the pump apart. My 2 cents would be to just use quality fuel and use a system injector cleaner with every oil change.

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was a customers car, so I don’t currently have it. If you’re referring to the “speaker on top of the dash closest to the windshield” this is often times just a vent and not a actual speaker.

    • @LubiClips
      @LubiClips 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see, not a problem. But no I have a 2021 and they put the low range speakers under the dash on the side of the foot wells. Its a PITA to get to.

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s tricky with those. Usually you can tell the lighter side to a darker side. The lighter side I would say should have the air flow into it

    At what mileage or years should this be done at?

    • @HandsOnDismantler

      You can check it with every oil change. It depends on the dirt level in your area. They usually last about 12-15k miles

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Maxfli82 they may look clean from the outside but you should check in between the fins of the filter. If it’s very dirty inside I would change it. Again it depends on where you live and if it’s very dusty. Thank you for the comment and I’m glad it helped!

    Where would you say I should buy the filter?

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s plenty of places to choose from, you can get these filters anywhere from your local auto parts store, your dealer, eBay or even Amazon. I tend to find good deals online if you can wait for shipping. If you would like to replace it without waiting your local auto parts store will usually have it. If not, last resort will be the dealership. They tend to be more pricey so I don’t usually use them.

      It was about $35 at the Mazda dealership for 2019 Mazda 3. Either way you still save me $$$ since they were going to charge me $98 for labor and the filter!

      @@HandsOnDismantler: I can understand why. Just from a driver standpoint, Mazda 3 has the WORST visibility of any car I've ever driven. Also, it has blind spots galore! 2.) All of the cabin user switches, like the mirror controls and door/window locks, are so poorly designed that you need to stop the car and physically look them to operate them- This is because the switches are all FLUSH with the surrounding surfaces and you can't feel them! 3.)The GPS is awful. I would rather go back to my 1999 Garmin for dependability. 4.) It quickly turned into a rough and uncomfortable ride. In short, all of the things you just can't truly assess in a quick test drive.
