Octopath Traveler 2 Lvl 55 Consistent Secret Boss Completion Guide (No Duplicate Battle Tested)

- Hello again everyone! I decided to do a real guide video on the super boss fight in Octopath 2 since my earlier videos featuring the fight were more to simply prove that I managed to win against Galdera under various challenge conditions. While there are certainly strategies I used that can be helpful, considering I was doing those fights with level 1 characters, two manning it, etc, I don't feel that they make for good guide videos for the average team; after all, the builds, equipment, and levels I am often using are major overkill for a standard fight. In this video, I show my favorite consistent way to kill Galdera using level 55 characters with no duplicate battle tested equipment. I use recommended subclasses and show where to get all of the important items for my build. I also speak during the fight to explain what you should be doing based on what occurs. @@Sharkenite over 40 hours trying to beat it using different strategies on youtube where my stats, items etc matched or exceeded the video and still failed as a disabled and depressed gamer this ruined the games content /final story boss for me. -Only managed to win with divine protection cast by both hirakir learned skili and merchant for 5 stacks. I was very unlucky. Had all the other trophies etc so it was pure frustration. My party was 80+
@@thecookies6109 Galdera is an optional superboss, and it sounds like you're going for all trophies on Playstation? OT2 doesn't require Galdera dead to understand the story, unlike the first game.

Phase 1: Ochette breaks all the limbs in one action, followed by Throne dealing most damages using latent + cleric + thief skill, with the support from others.
Phase 2: One cleric ensures Windy refrain at the right time, 1HP Hikari finishes the enemies with support from dancer and the other cleric.
This is the most detailed build video ever made on TH-cam for Octopath Traveler II. I used these two teams to defeat Vide then the final boss. Thank you!

I'd tried a couple of other attempts but needed 99 or specific characters with specific nuts etc and after spending half a day trying to grind a shark with Alrond i was close to just giving up. Only thing I would change is that, as some other comments mentioned, I wasn't having much luck getting Hikari's physical attack where it needed to be even with nuts, so I scrolled through the comments and found that someone had luck upping their critical stat into the 400-ish range. No idea if this is consistent or not, could've just gotten lucky, but doing this easily got me the kill, so just thought I'd mention it if it's still something you're looking into. Aside from that, this worked like a charm. Thankee kindly!

Truly this saved me so much time and stress, I did this at lv90 with some at 80 and before this guide I tried to fight him without strategies and ended up picking at the souls for 30 minutes with no real damag done lol. Haven'r fought a crazy strategic boss like this since the fighting the Adventurer, the Boss Gauntlet and the Wifi Demons on Bravely Default, this boss here is no easy feat but requires strategy indeed. Extra advice: I neglected my Hikari with literally no nuts (~level 56), so had only ~870 attack with the battle-tested weapon. I won phase 1 consistently with your guide but failed phase 2 about ten times because of low Hikari armsmaster axe damage. However, I read advice in these comments to try to get Hikari crit to 400+; I managed ~430 by changing his non-shield armor and won next try! Thank you again.

I want to thank you for this incredible guide. I didn't follow it exactly, probably changed about 20% of builds and equipment to adapt to the items I had (and to make myself feel good about partially being responsible for the strategy). But I was able to use this as a framework to defeat both endgame bosses. It was also really helpful to learn some of the finer details of how the combat system works (like how Giant's Club and Battle-Tested Blade have stacking passives).
I remember when I first learned they worked that way; for a while I just never used both assuming they didn’t! Glad it was able to help somewhat

Took me quite some time (Since I haven't used so much nuts and also wanted to fight it around lvl 60 and not push to lvl99), but I managed to defeat it thanks to this guide! Normally I tend to push myself to defeat them with least guides as possible, but this fight really took the number of me and I learned a lot from this fight. Great video and exceptionally well explained. I followed this stratergy but could not beat the second phase using Lionhearts Axe. My Hikari was at 850 str at level 60, even with having used nuts on him. To win I swapped out Lionhearts Axe for the learned skill Limb-from-Limb. With Battle-Tested Blade my str was around 980. This did the trick for me.

Thank you so much for this. For some reason my Hikaris stats were lower than the ones in your guide despite him being level 61 but your Phase 1 explanation is pretty much foolproof. I had to retry Phase 2 like 10 times and it only worked after putting some more crit gear on Hikari to consistently get those 99k, but Phase 1 I could do in my sleep now

I wish I knew how to remove those as well for these guide, as I'm not sure if I have time to redo the entire game for that. Out of curiosity, was your Lionheart's Axe with a physical attack boost and the limbs physical defense debuffed not one shotting them?
@@DarrinNewcomer Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. No, I had the physical boost from spicy jerky on and ruinous relic on Galdera but I'd still occasionally get white damage numbers and hit for 30k + 40k I think. Then on the next turn I'd get wiped. Increasing my crit from 1xx something to 4xx something with gear fixed it :)

Thanks for the guide! I was really struggling with keeping my team alive in the second phase after breaking all of Galdera's arms and I definitely don't think I would've come up with using the Cleric divine on both Hikari and Agnea to help manage the turn order. Cheers!

I clearly HAVE the tools to do this (my party ranged from level 80-92, and I had done all the side quest content, seen every location, looted tons, etc etc)... but I kept getting cheesed by the locked element part of the first half of the fight... using your guide to overcome that, I beat both it and the 2nd phase first try.

Thanks for the guide! I lost several times in the second phase because my Hikari didn't have enough critical, until I decided to swap the +50 damage passive for the +50 critical passive. I won right after!

Thanks for making this guide! I managed to beat the boss just now. Phase 1 is a bit tricky but I reload a few times and got a decent turn order, phase 2 is actually really consistent, can't believe armsmaster can deal that much damage 😲

Thanks a lot for the guide!! I was already at level 85-95 by the time I got to Galdera but I still followed everything here except getting those special items that grant an enemy debuff. I thought I would have to attempt the boss again when I realized my Hikari didn’t do as much damage for not critting on the second lionheart’s axe (when Galdera’s shield points were exposed). The third lionheart’s axe did crit but because I didn’t have the debuffing item, Hikari didn’t get to kill Galdera like on the video, so I basically had to finish Galdera off with max boosted Hired Help 😅
I lost my first attempt from the first phase of the boss but fortunately, the second attempt gave me mostly the same attack order as the one on the video and that’s when I won. I had a few mishaps like accidentally using the normal provoke instead of the EX provoke with Ochette so I had to improvise using max boosted basic weapon attacks with Osvald and Throné to reduce the shield (both had Aelfric’s Blessing and already acted once for the round). Fortunately on the next turn, Ochette got to act first so I used the 2 remaining bps to break the shield and debuff Galdera. Followed by Castti, where I used the bp, physical atk, strengthening, whimsical, and defusing serum. Then Osvald finished the phase with One True Magic.

Nice work man! My comp for beating this boss was quite similar to yours although the characters are all level 65ish, throne was a merchant and agnea was the inventor. One thing to note though, I feel like nuts are definitely a huge factor in getting this build right. I wasn't able to get my Hikari to have 8k HP, 400 crit nor 999 phys atk for the axe because I distributed the HP nuts evenly to all my characters and I spent almost all phys atk and crit nuts on Ochette. So I mainly struggled with the second phase because I wasn't able to clear the 3 minions fast enough. My Hikari only has 6.5k ish HP and around 760 phys atk on the axe and it was dealing around 40k only for each hit of lionheart axe, so I decided to use the bodyguard shield to pump up the axe phys atk to 830 and it was dealing around 80k after that which is a HUGE difference, agnea was also needed as the inventor to guarantee crit for all the enemies. It's amazing how many comps you can build to finish this boss, I was thinking you could also swap Hikari and Ochette with Hikari using double tomahawk and ultimate stance so he can hit AOE axe 6 times (albeit with more BP cost), or you could even use temenos as a damage dealer if you min max his SP haha.
Congrats on the kill! Yeah, I wish there was a way to remove the nuts for the guides. If there is a way, I'm not sure how other than replaying the game up to that point without using them. That being said, I'm not sure where the rumor started, but Alpione's only cares about your relative HP percentage (as in the percent HP you are at in relation to your total health). It does technically have an effect when your HP is higher, but is extremely small, as being at 1 health with 6.5k max would mean you are at a ".015" percent damage boost versus a ".0125" percent damage boost (unsure how they exactly calculate damage here, but the difference in .0025 doesn't change much in my tests). The Hikari I was using had 877 physical attack with his axe as well, not 999. I'm guessing that Galdera's physical defense must be in the 700's if putting on that shield made such a large difference. Just to make sure, that was with Hikari being at max charge with a physical attack buff while the boss had a physical attack debuff right? I just checked my level 1 completion where I had 661 physical attack and I did 46k + 56k on the boss with Lionheart's.
@@DarrinNewcomer Yeah i used the spicy jerky though i forgot if i applied debuff, i think temenos automatically does that at the start of every nighttime battles right? I think crit nuts and phys atk ones are the most important items for this build, since if you cant get your crit to ~400 then you either need to rely on rng after beating 1st phase or have inventor agnea and sacrifice aelfric on hikari (thats what i did). I was also using fang of ferocity before switching to finisher's claw on hikari so thats probably also why I was only able crit for ~45k haha. I dont really know the calculations but i was only doing 80k damage at 830 phys atk while your 870 phys atk was dealing deal 99k damage per hit and that is also a huge gap for only a 40 phys atk difference, if what you said about alpione is true then i do think phys atk also matters a lot. Anyway though, this guide was really well made man! And you're also a legend for doing the lvl 1 guide lmao.
@@syamsramadan9579 Yeah, Temenos will do that for you, although I have met a few people who didn't realize he debuffs enemies at night, so they try to do the fight during the day. Crits can definitely ruin it. That's why I put inventor on Temenos to try and get the crit scope, but unfortunately that will require a little turn order luck to fit that in, although there are a couple of things that can be done to try to make that happen. First of all I want to say thanks this guide was really helpful! It was confusing though in one sense because you have three different characters with cleric as their secondary. The game will not allow me to do this...
So when you go to a guild to get an additional subclass, there is an option when you talk to the guild leaders to do additional tasks to get up to 3 “licenses”, which allows you to have 3 people using that subclass

With a lot of RNG and a dozen try then I finally get it done, I can confirm this strategies is work as a gem but some of the RNG such as cri or turn can also put you down. PS. Thank you so much for this guide, I can get another 100% and move to another project.

The 3 turn kill guide worked for me, after 3 days trying I realized I hadn’t use a single nut on my chars, after that the process became significantly easier in phase 1, i literally just had to give all the magic nuts to Osvald and phase 1 gets nuked, on phase 2 I had a lot of trouble cuz Hikari is my main and the only 99 I have, so he was quicker than most of my party. So I gave témenos and Agnea speed amulets and boom, nuked Galdera with Lion Dance + Limb.

First of all thanks a lot for putting together this detailed and helpful guide! 🙏 I tried over and over again to defeat Galdera without looking at a guide, but I was utterly lost in phase 2 lol no clue how to go about it, so I finally looked for a guide :P As other people in the comments mentioned as well though, I have a weak ass Hikari, gave all the physical dmg / crit nuts to Ochette. I can clear the arm etc with limb from limb, but after that there is just not enough dmg coming through for Galdera. Even SP are an issue, I don't have enough left for a second attack on Galdera 🥲 My Hikari is Lvl 57, so I guess my only option is to level him a bit?
So what you can do is in the turn that you would normally kill Galdera, use the divine protection skill he can learn from the cleric in Canalbrine church. Give him a helmet that gives SP, and make sure someone gives him something like a forbidden elixir or Plum M to restore his SP. On that same turn, use the crit scope from inventor with Temenos. The divine protection will ensure that you don’t die that round and give several more attacks that are guaranteed crits, as the lack of crits is probably the issue and that usually solves it. Also, if you are using limb from limb on the main body and not one shotting him, make sure to use Lionheart’s.

This game really comes down to the Boss fights.. only needed help for Vide and Galdera!! Havent unlocked the scret final boss but i wish they would switch it up. Seems like Galdera will be the Omega Weapon of this series

Once you deal about 300k dmg,it gets much easier. The eye will eat it's other limbs for 10k and will be vulnerable whether the limbs are around or not. You can just focus fire on it and kill it

Technically you could take off cleric from Castti if you really wanted, as it’s the least important one, but yeah having all 3 is ideal

I feel like Merchant would be the better subclass for Ochette, so if you need to during the cycling elemental phase, you can use a fully charged Beastling Hired Help and not have to use a Decaying Dragon Essense. And, though not quite as powerful as Aeber's Reckoning, the stronger Hired Helps chip in a good amount of damage if you get the opportunity.

What does the most damage for Hikari:
A) Fully charged On the Hunt (Lionheart's Axe)
B) Fully Charged Brand's Thunder (Warrior Divine skill)
C) Fully charged Tenretsuzan (Latent power)
D) Fully charged Shinjumonjigiri (EX Skill)
This is with Lion axe, and lets say either conqueror (+250 Broken) or Battle-tested Sword.
I see you always use Axe, it raises its HP but does it beat all the other options?
@@pascalgagnon5423 yes it beats all of the other options. It has a much higher per hit base damage, and is much easier to hit the 99k cap with 2 times. The health boost isn’t really useful, but especially compared to some of those other 1 hit moves that can only do up to 99k, lionhearts axe can easily do 2 99k hits. Lionhearts also deals more damage the more weaknesses that are exposed on the enemy.
My Hikari wasn’t strong enough to end the second phase before Galdera could attack, so Partitio payed Galdera 1.5 million leaves (100k + 200k + 400k + 800k) to not act for an extra turn. I won at a net cost of 950k gold, but honestly, way more worth it than having to grind up Hikari.

Lizardking II has that double axe all.
Yeah I think that’s the one I used for a while. That’s the one I believe I say to get in the video as you only need to go to the sunken maw for it if I’m not mistaken, unless I’m thinking of a different lizard king. At the very least, I know there is one in the sunken maw that does the double axe hit to everyone
