Thanks for the guide. Adapted it a bit and used for example just one forbidden elixir. And after I beat this boss, I still had to run around and knock like 50 people down for plat. Felt strange but also nice running around and giving everyone a high five with Throne.

List of most frustrating bosses in the game: 1: Galdera 2: Thurston 3: ... Nobody else comes close lol Galdera really does have a million different gimmicks that'll completely rock you if you let him move at all, doesn't he? I struggled a bit with him in the first game, but it didn't take me long to come up with a good strategy for beating him on my own. Octopath 2 Galdy seems undefeatable unless you come at him with immense efficiency and enormous power.
Yeah I intentionally took my time so people could follow, Also I was following my notes and did not want to mess up which is part of the reason I went slow. 😜 I'm glad you managed to beat it. 👍

Been trying to fight this guy for over a week and have tried using other guides, but they all rely heavily on some form of RNG (Turn order or relying on Dreadwing beast move to 1HKO the arms), or requires finite materials (Reinforcing/Rejuvenating Jam) that I had 0 of by the time I made it to this boss. The way you've set this up where you can still follow it regardless of who starts first, and without multiple Battle-Tested weapons/job licenses/rare jams, is incredible. Hi, Yeah I had been trying for almost 3 weeks to beat this boss and I kept failing over and over. I looked at some of the guides online and they all kept using Hikari in phase two to defeat the boss, but it just did not work for me. I then tried Throne in the second phase and again I just could not do enough damage to the boss and it just wiped the floor with me. So I went through ever bit of gear I had and thought Temenos may have better nuke damage and thankfully it worked. Since each phase only needs one damage dealer it was easy to make it work no matter which character went first. 😀
I'm glad it worked for you. This fight was a nightmare for me until I switched to Temenos. I tried Throne and Hikari as damage dealers in phase two and kept getting destroyed, until I switched to Temenos. 😂

Absolutely brilliant guide, thanks a mile, I was struggling versus the boss a lot but this strategy worked flawlessly. Did some octopuff/cait farming just to be sure and spent all my nuts onto hikari/temenos for good measure. Temenos was hitting 99999 with each tick lol.
This guide really is as exact as possible when it comes to the stats, My temenos had 531 elemental attack compared to their 532 and it wasn't enough to destroy all the limbs.
Thank you for this guide! After trying many other methods and failing (usually on the second phase) this one finally got it. For anyone wondering, I had Temenos at level 67 and Hikari at 68 before starting the fight. But that said, I invested a few Magic Nuts on Temenos to get his Elem Atk up a bit higher, so that may have helped.
Thank you so much GGG for this guide, I followed your guide to the teeth and finally beat the boss at my second attempt. I failed for the first time because my attention slipped for a moment. The second time, there was also a bit of uncertainties as I messed up one or two steps, but I try to go back to the path you were leading and I won! I finally finished the boss that I have been putting off for a few months. This experience made me realise 1) brute force without strategy simply won't work in some cases 2) with the right strategy, you will will win without even being scratched 3) always seek guidance from others when you feel lost and confused and 4) keep calm and carry on when things go wrong, do not give up right away.
Yeah this boss was such a step up on all other fights in the game. When I first fought Galdera aka the boss I was so frustrated that I could not beat it after multiple attempts as the second phase constantly defeated me. I also looked for guides on TH-cam but couldn't find anything that worked for me. So I sat down and tried to work out a strategy, based on what other people had done that worked for me & this is what seemed to work. I decided to make a guide because if I though it was difficult then I guessed a lot of other people would to. However I never expected this video to get as many views as it has lol.😂 Well done on beating the boss I hope you got your platinum trophy. 👍
WORKED LIKE A CHARM. Some turns had a different turn order but as long as i followed what you did with each character it all panned out. Thanks a lot man
Nice one I'm glad you beat it, hope you got the platinum trophy. 👍 Yeah the turn should not matter that's why I put the text on the screen. Since only one character is the damage dealer per stage all the others are just there to buff or debuff you and the boss.
Thanks so much. I had the same issue. For some reason though I had the giants club and my Hikaru is level 90, he needed 2 attacks to skip the elemental phase. So instead of defending, I attacked a second time with the fully boosted Lion’s Axe attack. Then I followed the rest of your instructions for the win. Your guide was the only one that worked for me.
Thank you so much for the easy to follow guide. I had to improv the first phase a bit as my Hikari was not strong enough to skip the elemental phase (lower level + accidentally sold Giant’s Club). Using a boosted “Beastling” Hired Help and a large soulstone let me break all the limbs again, then I tried my best to keep Hikari’s BP high so he could get off the max Warlord Spear swing again, defeating the limbs a second time. The second phase worked perfectly though; cool strategy and very satisfying to pull off. Cheers!

I'm so glad I found this. I struggled with this boss for almost 2 months straight!! I had mostly the same jobs on each of my characters, but I was initially trying to do basically the opposite teams for phase 1 and 2. Doing your strategy instead I had a much easier time. My characters were slightly less leveled than yours so on phase 2 I ended up needing 1 extra turn, having to use 3 forbidden potions and casting Sacred effulgence 3 times during the fight but still beat it almost as quickly
I attempted a similar strategy a few times before seeking help, I was using armasters Hikari and arcanist Temenos but I couldn't get past the first phase. You helped me out lots simply with Ochette summons, they honestly were the key! Thanks lots!
It took a few tries as my Temenos was not strong enough but after leveling him up a bit more this guide worked like a charm. Thank you for putting this together for us.

Takes some preparation, as it did in the first game, but well worth it as this strategy is flawless. Makes me wonder since Galdera's hellgate is on an island now, as opposed to the previous game, there considerably much time must have passed between the first game and the second. Enough time for Galdera to accumulate power. Now let's say he had managed to come back entirely in full power. He would then have to content with Vide, a battle that without a doubt would destroy the world. Interesting to think about... Big thanks GGG for this guide.
Thank you so much for this guide. This strategy is awesome… the usage of monsters’ capabilities is so smart and well prepared! I could kill this secret boss it on my third try. The trick on my side was to equip finisher claws on Hiraki instead of Temenos. Temenos used Fang of Ferocity. I then used all my attack/crit nuts on Hikari and all my elemental attack/SP nuts on Temenos to boost their stats. Nailed it. You’re the Octopath Traveler 2 legend… THANKS !!!
This was incredible. I beat Galdera in the first game on my own but this go around I couldn't get past the first round. This was exactly what I needed!
Most useful guide on how to defeat Galdera by far, thanks! My Hikari was not powerful as yours, so I made a couple of small adjustments, I cast another Axe of the Lionheart before the limbs regrew using one of Aelfric's bonus turns, and then I actually killed the first phase a turn later b/c I used an item to restore my SP. Overall, super useful!

Hey, I only played the game now, and I didn't have to use a guide for any other boss. That being said, I am really not good at the game and Galdera already traumatized me enough in Octopath 1, so I wasn't ever gonna go through that again in 2 without help. Thank you so much for relieving me of the trouble. I have to again stress I am really not good at these games, so your video was massively appreciated.
To be honest I was the same as you, the only boss that gave me any issues was this one. Hence the reason I made the guide as I thought it was such a jump in difficulty.
Don't know if it matters, but I forgot to turn it to nighttime, and I still destroyed the boss. Thanks for this. Turn order was so strict on every other video I watched except this one. Absolutely perfect.

Thank you so much for this awesome guide. It detailed everything perfectly. My first attempt my Temenos was quite where he needed to be so on the 2nd attempt when one was defending I fed Temenos some elemental atk boosting food and that did the trick it seemed
Nice one I'm glad you finally beat it. 👍 Yeah I'm guessing you can give Temenos attack food with a character that is defending, but you might need to be careful that it does not heal his health up as this may reduce the effect of Alpione's Amulet.
Thanks. That was a great help. I wouldn't do it without this guide. I just had to improvise a little in the first phase as the boss had elemental weaknesses too, but with Hired Help > Beastlings it did the job to remove shields.

Thanks for the video, this was super helpful! Definitely would have never beat this final boss without it. It took quite a lot of setup for me personally (needing a lot of the gear, then grinding my Tem and Hikari up to 85 or so). It was also a little tricky if Hikari didn't naturally fall behind Ochette, but alas, after about 3 tries I finally got it. One note for anyone reading this: The Champ Belt seems to be missable after the epilogue starts since the arena no longer appears to be open. So, that item wont be obtainable, unless I missed something, so be sure to grab it before you start the epilogue! Anyway, thanks again for a super helpful video, I can't imagine how long it took you to plan this all out but it was perfect.

Very good guide. Even though my Hikari wasn't strong enough to one shot the first wave of adds, so I had to face an extra set with the elemental weaknesses. Wasn't too bad with combining the other guide's strategy on using Dreadwing for that part. Phase 2 was cake after all that. Hikari was 82 and Temenos was only 76

Thank you, but I would like to point out a few things 1) heal up, and fill up your latent energy for all 8 character 2) learn all the skill on secondary job as mention in the video. My throne first time equip with cleric, and I went into the fight with no cleric skill 😂 3) and also finish temenos story as you need his ex skill. I didn't finish mine and couldnt find the skill when I needed it. Silly me😂😂😂😂😂

I have tried for weeks to beat this boss and followed all the guides I could find on TH-cam and none of them worked for me. On my second try with your guide I beat it (I messed up on the first go ) After so many goes finally. 😀
This worked for me exactly like in the video without needing any extra turns with a level 70 temenos, and a level 78 hikari. I think it might work with lower levels even. Thank you for this guide, the fact it works regardless of turn order or any other RNG element is amazing.
I raised my party up to lvl 79, Hikari lvl 84, Temenos lvl 87 First phase went exactly as planned following the video. Second phase…oh man I was sweating. Temenos did NOT kill all limbs first time he used Sacred Effulgence, as the head stayed alive. I used Throne’s Latent power and gave Temenos the 2nd Forbidden Elixer, and then used Aeber’s Reckoning to ensure the Abyssal Maw’s defeat, as it was in the red, and it worked! After the turn ended, the protection on Galdera was lifted and I was able to pull off the 2nd Sacred Effulgence!! Osvald was able to go before that, so for full assurance, I had him give Temenos an item (Crème de Brûlée I think) that refilled SP (even though it was full already) and added elemental attack buff. When Temenos used the move, it killed him!! Thank you SOOO very much for this tutorial! I can rest easy now.

I'm so glad I found this. I struggled with this boss for almost 2 months straight!! I had mostly the same jobs on each of my characters, but I was initially trying to do basically the opposite teams for phase 1 and 2. Doing your strategy instead I had a much easier time. My characters were slightly less leveled than yours so on phase 2 I ended up needing 1 extra turn, having to use 3 forbidden potions and casting Sacred effulgence 3 times during the fight but still beat it almost as quickly

I attempted a similar strategy a few times before seeking help, I was using armasters Hikari and arcanist Temenos but I couldn't get past the first phase. You helped me out lots simply with Ochette summons, they honestly were the key! Thanks lots!

Takes some preparation, as it did in the first game, but well worth it as this strategy is flawless. Makes me wonder since Galdera's hellgate is on an island now, as opposed to the previous game, there considerably much time must have passed between the first game and the second. Enough time for Galdera to accumulate power. Now let's say he had managed to come back entirely in full power. He would then have to content with Vide, a battle that without a doubt would destroy the world.

I could kill this secret boss it on my third try. The trick on my side was to equip finisher claws on Hiraki instead of Temenos. Temenos used Fang of Ferocity. I then used all my attack/crit nuts on Hikari and all my elemental attack/SP nuts on Temenos to boost their stats. Nailed it.

Most useful guide on how to defeat Galdera by far, thanks! My Hikari was not powerful as yours, so I made a couple of small adjustments, I cast another Axe of the Lionheart before the limbs regrew using one of Aelfric's bonus turns, and then I actually killed the first phase a turn later b/c I used an item to restore my SP. Overall, super useful!

Hey, I only played the game now, and I didn't have to use a guide for any other boss.
That being said, I am really not good at the game and Galdera already traumatized me enough in Octopath 1, so I wasn't ever gonna go through that again in 2 without help.

To be honest I was the same as you, the only boss that gave me any issues was this one.
Hence the reason I made the guide as I thought it was such a jump in difficulty.

Don't know if it matters, but I forgot to turn it to nighttime, and I still destroyed the boss. Thanks for this. Turn order was so strict on every other video I watched except this one. Absolutely perfect.

Thank you so much for this awesome guide. It detailed everything perfectly. My first attempt my Temenos was quite where he needed to be so on the 2nd attempt when one was defending I fed Temenos some elemental atk boosting food and that did the trick it seemed

Yeah I'm guessing you can give Temenos attack food with a character that is defending, but you might need to be careful that it does not heal his health up as this may reduce the effect of Alpione's Amulet.

Thanks. That was a great help. I wouldn't do it without this guide. I just had to improvise a little in the first phase as the boss had elemental weaknesses too, but with Hired Help > Beastlings it did the job to remove shields.

Thanks for the video, this was super helpful! Definitely would have never beat this final boss without it. It took quite a lot of setup for me personally (needing a lot of the gear, then grinding my Tem and Hikari up to 85 or so). It was also a little tricky if Hikari didn't naturally fall behind Ochette, but alas, after about 3 tries I finally got it. One note for anyone reading this: The Champ Belt seems to be missable after the epilogue starts since the arena no longer appears to be open. So, that item wont be obtainable, unless I missed something, so be sure to grab it before you start the epilogue! Anyway, thanks again for a super helpful video, I can't imagine how long it took you to plan this all out but it was perfect.

I pretty much 1 or 2 shot most of the bosses bar this one. 😂
You can get es many champ belts as you want. You have to fight in the arena again and again.

Very good guide. Even though my Hikari wasn't strong enough to one shot the first wave of adds, so I had to face an extra set with the elemental weaknesses. Wasn't too bad with combining the other guide's strategy on using Dreadwing for that part. Phase 2 was cake after all that. Hikari was 82 and Temenos was only 76

Thank you, but I would like to point out a few things
1) heal up, and fill up your latent energy for all 8 character
2) learn all the skill on secondary job as mention in the video. My throne first time equip with cleric, and I went into the fight with no cleric skill 😂
3) and also finish temenos story as you need his ex skill. I didn't finish mine and couldnt find the skill when I needed it. Silly me😂😂😂😂😂

This worked for me exactly like in the video without needing any extra turns with a level 70 temenos, and a level 78 hikari. I think it might work with lower levels even.

I raised my party up to lvl 79, Hikari lvl 84, Temenos lvl 87
First phase went exactly as planned following the video. Second phase…oh man I was sweating.
Temenos did NOT kill all limbs first time he used Sacred Effulgence, as the head stayed alive. I used Throne’s Latent power and gave Temenos the 2nd Forbidden Elixer, and then used Aeber’s Reckoning to ensure the Abyssal Maw’s defeat, as it was in the red, and it worked!
After the turn ended, the protection on Galdera was lifted and I was able to pull off the 2nd Sacred Effulgence!! Osvald was able to go before that, so for full assurance, I had him give Temenos an item (Crème de Brûlée I think) that refilled SP (even though it was full already) and added elemental attack buff. When Temenos used the move, it killed him!!
