  • The calliper rebuild kits arrive so I set to work to remove and rebuild the callipers. Unfortunately another problem is noticed along the way and so more parts are now on order!

    Hi Alex. Watching you working on those brakes confirms my decision, made years ago, to leave vehicle repairs, and maintenance to trained mechanics! I recall my my noble, but ultimately unsuccessful attempts to change the oil and filter on my TR4.
    I take my metaphorical hat off to you.
    Hope you soon recovered from the effects of the jab, and as always, I look forward to watching next vlog.

      Yes, I'm far from an expert but so far the biggest problem is waiting for parts to be delivered, fully recovered from the jab now, glad you enjoyed the video :)

    I’ve seen many mechanics using the cup of tea timing method, and for exact timings the introduction of biscuits alongside. 👍😂😂

    • @ttxela
      @ttxela  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the perfect method of timing 👌👍

    A painstaking job mate but your getting there & doing a great thorough job👍. I always find that a few seconds with the heat gun seems to work wonders on stubborn nuts and bolts. Had my jab & no reaction whatsoever, hope yours didn't last long, I think it was wise to take a brake😂 from it all though. All the best....Jim👍

    Alex , well done so far, give the other end of the brake hose end a good wire brushing before plus gas. And soak 24 hours even a bit of heat before plus gas to boil into top joint. Hopefull now you are on the homeward track to job done.

      With refurbished front brakes, looking at the old ones, you better tie everything down including Mr Owel and the wife.

      Well no harm done if they need replacing anyway :)

    May I ask where you got your rebuild kit or new caliper from. My J5 has exactly the same issue. One piston is so slow and there is nothing obviously wrong..

      All the brake parts so far have come from Autodoc. The usual suppliers in the UK all seem to be out of stock. Autodoc parts appear to ship from Germany.
