Don't let the neighbours put you off, how is washing your car with water going to damage their drive?
I bet the neighbours have moaned about your CB Aerial.
I thought £6000 is a fair price, as it will be done by professionals.
And yes, you could buy another van, but that might need work done, at least if you get this one done, then it will be what you wanted in a camper.

Sorry it's turned into a big job mate. £6000 would not get you a good camper. There's always something needing fixing in motorhomes. None of the campers out there would need nothing done. The Talbots (I have a Symphony Express) are known for rot issues. Even new 100K motorhomes have issues before they leave the dealer. Having a motohorhome is a hobby...and hobbies tend to cost more money than you expect. I've welded some bits on mine and it needs more work this year, but my mobility is limited so progress is painfully slow. Mine's on SORN on the drive. I need to sort the carburetor out and a few bits to get the MOT done. Ignore the neighbours. Good luck.

Well I’m pleased it’s turned out to be like it has, I’m really happy I get to do the work on it, it’s right up my street lol.
I do wish I had more space though lol

@@RSPYT I live in Essex, and would help if I was more able bodied. There's nothing better than taking somthing broken, seeing the value in it, and fixing it better than new! All the best x

I found the same problems also. Inside had to be ripped out and all new wood frame replaced along with upper cupboard bottoms and backs. New window seals and 80-90% hibernation rewired, 70-70% behind the dash rewired. All new insolation and plumbing. It looked very pretty underside. Oh yeah right. So far as of today 02/-622 I have used 4 rolls or MiG welding wire and there's still more to go. Gear selector arm sever fracture. All lights (interior ) rewired and changed to LED. All vehicle lighting rewired. Removed all previous welding, ( done by a man in the dark with his feet.) Removed all stuffed paper, polystyrene, P38 - P40 and pieces of wood to plug holes. Repaired the LPG interior, water heater, shower, the pump and the cooker. The previous " IDIOTS " HAD A 220V OPEN ENDED FLOURESNT LIGHT IN THE SHOWER ROOM. The list goes on and on. Good luck and stay positive a year later I'm still at it.

Yeah,I think you've realised now that the job is well beyond DIY,unless you have previous experience at camper van refurbishment.
£6000 does seem a fair price for the work involved. At least it will be done and you'll have some guarantee/warranty.And you should be able to get away this year with the family,at some point.Providing there isn't a backlog of campers needing repairs.
Nothing worse than having nuisance neighbours who think they own the street. If you're doing nothing wrong that affects them, hold your head up high and get on with your business.Don't let them feel they can intimidate you!

    • @RSPYT
      @RSPYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

All foreign people intimidate me, so rude and loud all the time.
I don’t think my camper is beyond DIY haha I look at things with the aspect of if it’s possible then I can do it, if someone else can do it then I can too…
It could be a lot worse 😂😂

  • @tstuart7333

Even the minor repair establishments can cost a mortgage. I laugh when I was looking to buy my MH reading some of the descriptions as: £3000 worth of welding. £2600 worth of welding, What! are people Cadburys? If that would be true I can assure someone if you paid that kind of money for just welding then the vehicle must be a BUCKET, what else is lurking out of view? What about if you cut the outer ply the start to scrap at the polystyrene. Gz that exterior mastic work looks terrible. Some people are happy with what they think is good. Some people are so PATHETIC, if your not going to do the repair well then don't do it.

I’m a welder by trade and if I could get £3k for welding up an old camper van I’d be a millionaire by now haha

What you said is so true, the reason they are hostile is because they know they are the parasites living in the host and are nothing like us they are using us, you need to show dominance over them. once you do they will shut up and stop. Id tell them to go home tbh if they dont like it and see what their reactions are.
