When I was a kid my family went to the outer banks every year and I recognize so many of these places you where at! It really brought me back, awesome video!
Having watched many of your videos, and knowing that you typically photograph in more urban/developed settings, I have some sense of your point of view and the images you're able to extract from the everyday. Thus, having grown up about 90 minutes away from the Outer Banks, it was really interesting (and unexpected) to see the perspective you'd apply to a very different setting, albeit one that looked quite familiar to me. And really, truly, the wonder you experienced from seeing the wild horses and a sea bird drop a fish at your feet reminded me yet again of how we, as humanity, might take better care of the natural world if more people had a chance to experience it for themselves.
Imagine you're just passing by with your dinner, minding your own business, but then you accidentally lose your grip, and some giant ape stops what he's doing just to document your fuckup onto both digital and physical media for the whole world to know about. So freaking rude.
This are some of the prettiest photos you´ve taken dude, my favorite has to be 14:21 maybe it´s because you don´t shoot much sunrise that this are so freshh
I'm also amazed at the amount of green foliage when visiting the east. People don't realize that Southern California is a semi arid (desert like?) region. It's not supposed to get a lot of rain.
Your photos are amazing. I’ve been a pro photographer for 20+ years shooting film and then digital and back to film again and I think you have a great career ahead of you. You definitely have a great eye for a great photograph.
Of all your videos, this one might be my favorite. I live just a little further up the coast in Virginia Beach and have visited the Outer Banks many times over the years, so seeing you spend time there and get these shots just feels like home. Such a relaxing vibe, and truthfully some of your best work!
The first water tower you saw is also an old Coast Guard Station, the water tower and adjoining houses can be rented in AirBnB! Loved the video, looked amazing as always.
Willem, I discovered your youtube channel about 2 or 3 months ago. I'm not sure exactly how I did, because I was not a photographer in the slightest. Your videos got me into film photography, so thank you so much for that! This one is another classic!
*Fish escapes* "Omg! That was crazy! Hey big guy help me out and throw me back in the water please!...Wtf? this isnt a photo op! I'm...taking...in..too..*gasp*...much...air."
Hello from fellow New Joisy'n! Glad you enjoyed your trip. Some nice photos. Most crafts are a little on the expensive side these days & to do it rite takes some time & effort. I did a little B&W negative & enlarger work way, way back in my 20's. Didn't know anything about dodging & burning back then. Still have my Canon AE1-P 35mm film camera & 2 lenses in the bottom of the tv cabinet & just replaced the battery in it a few months ago. 1 roll of Kodak Gold 200 that is about 15 yrs young in the fridge. Probably toss the film & get a decent roll or 2 of B&W to mess with. Happy shooting.
My niece and her husband and son live and own a business in Rodanthe, so we've been down there a few times. We went to the Coast Guard station in 2005, and the sand had drifted up so high around it that you could step over the 8' fence that surrounded it at the time. The sand had infiltrated the inside pretty bad, too. There were plans to rehab it and do something with it, but it looks like those plans fell through. Glad to see it's still OK, though. Great photos and video!
I especially liked the long expores under the pier. the hard dark lines from the poles with the smooth sky and water is really really nice. The first one with the pocket of light on the side of the pier is so nice. I'd love to get a print of that
Honestly, it's so crazy to see the place that I live captured in such beautiful pictures. You did such a great job and seeing a lot of the places I've been in these pictures was so cool. Keep up the good work.
That first water tower you took photos of was right in front of the original Coast Guard house! I got a photo of it aswell! Did you get a chance to go to Jockey Ridge?
Some of the best photos I've seen from you. Overall great slices of life and storytelling. And the colors are spot on, darkroom printing has got to be one of the reasons for that.
You have fantastic vidoes. The locations during sunset are beyond gorgeous. Whenever I go to those locations at that time of day I get so overwhelmed because I feel like I have so many photos to take before golden/ blue hour is over! Keep up the good work!
dude this video makes me feel so..... i cant even explain it it feels so good. i yearn for photos like this ill get them someday and the photo of the peir with the sunset and the lights from the peir made me drool.
Hello from Russia. Cool videos. Your videos are inspiring. Always want to go out and shoot smth after watching some of ur videos. Looking forward to see ur new videos, i found ur channel about two months ago and i have been glued to the monitor ever since that moment.
oh man, thank you for this atmosphere, i really enjoy every video you make. There is some other youtubers what makes rather good content about film photography. But only when i look at you pictures i understand what it all about and want shoot too. You photos like cherry on the top of this video masterpieces. Then new book comes out, i definitely order one to cold Russia.
Amazing video in the style of your older productions - I felt like i was chilling out with you on the back seat of that Jeep, great shots. I'm impressed about how much work you've made in darkroom than on scanner to make this movie happen. Take care!
You should peep Aycock Brown. He’s the OBXs’ OG photographer from like the 50’s; he helped turn this place into a resort town through his photography (which as a native, maybe I’m somewhat sour about, but it’s neat history nonetheless).
the person I like just sent this to me, and I cannot for the life of me explain the butterflies I felt imagining me and her going on a trip like this one day, I know it's a fake scenario, but it gave me peace.
Wow. The horses and the coast guard station at blue hour - beautiful photos. Also trying to figure out what the fish incident means. It definitely...means something...
Always love your videos bro. Glad you got to see some of the beauty my home state of NC has to offer. You should definitely explore the Appalachian mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway next time you’re out this way 🤙🏼
What A Great Video Well I Enjoined Every Single Moment Watching Those Warm Shots Your Shots Inspired Me For Real, Thank You So Much For Sharing This Awesome Trip With Us, The Fish Photo Is Amazing So What Happened To The Fish
willem your videos are my therapy.
This isn’t healthy. But neither is hoping that constantly buying cameras is helping…
This guy should do both of photography and an ASMR channel and smash both lol
I agree!!
Therapy? They just get me jealous!
I wouldn't say therapy, but it is therapeutic... Lol
these have got to be some of the best photos willem has taken, the story telling is there, i love the still lifes
Thank you very much!
Such an amazing trip with such an awesome crew! Still can't believe the luck we had with the perfect weather. Cant wait for the next one!

If you go up the eastern shore of VIRGINIA. There’s an island called Chincoteague Island. They have wild horses all over the place there
I legit said “wow” out loud, alone watching this when I saw the shot at 14:09
Thank you ❤️
Man I just love it when Willem goes on road trips, the photos he manages to capture are just absolutely amazing!
My favorite shot from this trip had to be the coast guard station. God what a scene. Everything about that photo is perfect.
8:58 Looks like miniature, one of the best videos and calmest vibes.
12:53 the colors here looked so dreamy
Imagine you're just passing by with your dinner, minding your own business, but then you accidentally lose your grip, and some giant ape stops what he's doing just to document your fuckup onto both digital and physical media for the whole world to know about. So freaking rude.
LMAOOO
The way you intersect your video with the photographs you have taken is wonderful
"Only one fish was harmed in the making of this video" lol. Love your videos man, keep it up!
I really like the way you explain the things, very clear.
Thank you for your work !
