If Ben John's has more letdowns early in these tournaments and Staksrud is more consistent getting to finals he may be the best at the end of the year.😊
In the first game, Federico Staksrud provided a glimpse of what is to come in the near future. While in the second game he struggled to replicate the same angle and speed, it's clear he possesses the potential. With more training to enhance his stamina and consistency, he's poised for growth. On the other hand, Ben exhibits remarkable composure and calmness, even during the most challenging matches. What stands out is his ability to reset himself after each point. Moreover, he consistently displays politeness and generosity in his call-outs when opponents have doubts. This isn't just a product of hard work and luck; it's a testament to his character as a true sportsman
Staksrud's speed (and endurance for that matter) is out of this world!!! Alas, Ben Johns has the upper hand in overall finesse, consistency and the ability to read/anticipate his opponent's moves.
Ben is not only a great player but he's got a heart of gold. Not many players would be willing to challenge on their own point just to make sure they deserved their point. Hats off to him.
Lol there is no way Joola is gonna drop Staksrud because he complained about the grip. They're just gonna let him walk to another paddle sponsor? Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhh right.
Can the PPA please stop with the spoilers. “Anna Leigh just won another triple crown” I guess now I don’t need to watch women’s doubles, mixed doubles, or women’s singles😖
I'm 40 years old and played ping pong for the army. I played pickleball 5 times now and I JUST beat a guy with a 4.5 score pretty badly. If this game would of been around 20 years ago who knows. Can I make a run at the age of 40? I'm going play today against another guy who is near pro level. We'll see how I do.
I doubt you faced a true 4.5 singles player. Singles is the outlier in pickleball. Most players won’t touch it. They guy you played that said he was 4.5 was probably referring to his doubles rating and doesn’t play much singles. Also, always be careful when people self-rate themselves to you and take it with a grain of salt as most people overrate themselves out of pride and ego.
Biggest mistakes I see with pros is playing up it’s just not good positioning volleying the balls is so random and chaotic it’s luck and chance to win. If u play back u get a lot more time to react and hit those crazy top back side spin shots
Does anyone know how much prize money he got for winning this tournament? Andre and Steffi got $1 million for winning one match a few weeks back. Is he making anything near that?
The PPA broadcasters need to LOWER THE VOLUME of the commentators and increase the volume on THE ACTUAL GAME. It's impossible to hear the ball when the commentator's voices are so loud and distracting. It's important for viewers and fans to be able to HEAR the pickleball and how hard it is being strucK. There are also the sounds that the players make whether through physical movement or vocalizations. SOUND: IT'S AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE GAME OF PICKLEBALL. GIVE US MORE PICKLEBALL SOUND AND LESS IRRITATING COMMENTATORS WHO DETRACT FROM OUR ENJOYMENT OF THE SPORT.
I actually liked the announcers in this one. I felt that they have passion for the game and can see the beauty in it. For me the referee got on my nerves. He makes the calls like a damn horn and every time he said the score I’m like damn shut up. Get a referee with a calmer voice will help a lot
@@arautus Sports are infinitely better when announcers talk the absolute minimum. Same with tennis. You're really not adding to the game, just let them play we have eyes.
@@YorgiGolfs To me, it depends on the announcers. I agree many of them are very annoying when it comes to sports, but these two are not annoying at all.
@@simthai173 because youre not agile enough to cover the full court so you play a pingpong version of tennis, not to mention this game does not involve skill lmao.

@@chrispaulsen5746 Wrong. Pickleball is mini tennis and the real Fed is a true sports goat! Pickleball ain’t close to tennis in skill level. That’s why.
@@BigRed22_KC first of all it's not mini tennis. Ask Genie Bouchard. She says they are two completely different sports and they are. Regardless Fed is a nickname all over the place and a lot easier to say than Federico
Ben Johns so good he starts the match with 6 points.
And those points are too one sided to even show 😂
I was watching it on PBTV and thought it was my fault that I missed the first 6 points.
Maybe Federico was being nice and spotted him 6 points.
The good news for the sport of Pickleball: Everyone is getting better. The bad news: is that so is Ben Johns.
lol, it’s pretty insane.. the gap looks to close and then he just improves his game and maintains the gap.
Your only real chance to beat him is the 1st time (because once he’s got notes on you, it’s game over)
@@BuffBabyLuka That's what usually happens. I've seen him lose the 1st game and win the last two because he figured out his opponent's game.

Classy move at 21:00 by Ben Johns to request to challenge his own call when Fed was out of challenges.

What is to come is obviously already here. Speed and athleticism are not nearly as important in pickleball as in tennis. The courts are small.
So what are you saying, that the overall dominance of this match by Ben Johns is a thing of the past? 😂
Staksrud's speed (and endurance for that matter) is out of this world!!! Alas, Ben Johns has the upper hand in overall finesse, consistency and the ability to read/anticipate his opponent's moves.
Athletic ability in pickleball does help, but the cat-and-mouse game is far more important. Ben Johns has that figured out better than anyone ever has
Yep, that's why Ben has the upper hand.
After reviewing many PPA tour videos,.. near 100% certain they're speeding up the videos.
That 7 point run from staksrud was insane
I was just about to type that same thing HAHA
@@PickleballTrendsyeah, I didn’t know the outcome in advance so thought John’s was gonna lose based on how he was being dominated in those 7 points.
