Yup! I found this pretty obvious at regular speed but if you playback 0:26-0:28 slow, it's beyond clear that Newman had completed his volley follow-through, brought the paddle back to his chest, then pushed it forward again well before it fell. No momentum from the volley involved nor any run up = not a kitchen violation. You can drop or toss all the shit you feel like into the kitchen... paddle, hat, both shoes... as long as it's not during a volley or result of your momentum carrying through from the volley or approach to the volley.
Refs make mistakes like all of us. They are like cops they protect and serve the law and sometimes make the call wrong. What's wrong hun found yourself on the losing side one too many times cuz your game rely's so heavily on ref calls and not some much on brining talent to the court. 😥😥 This hugs for you.
OK, I don't know PB rules but in the very first clip, if the ball already landed out, then the paddle fell into "the kitchen" why was the point overturned? Seems like the play was dead once the ball hit out of bounds. Thank you to anyone who has the answer.
I believe it's because momentum generated while the ball was live cannot carry you into the kitchen even after the point has ended. And the paddle is considered part of the player.
In the broken paddle clip, the referee was incorrect in awarding the point. If you watch the slo-mo, the ball his the ground out of bounds before the paddle hits the kitchen. Technically, the point was over.
it doesnt matter when the ball hits out of bounds, it matters when the momentum of the player causes himself or any part of himself to stop after hitting the ball.
@@ajones68 correct, however, I think a case could have been made that Riley reestablished momentum before his paddle fell into the kitchen. While his initial swing broke the paddle, it didn't separate from the handle until after he reestablished momentum and he was lifting up the paddle to look at it.
@@danhoen4129 Correct. If the wind had blown his hat off into the kitchen after he hit the ball, then that is not a kitchen violation either. No momentum.
@@bbibbless The rule states that you (or any of your equipment) cannot touch the kitchen after a volley until after you re-establish momentum. Establishing momentum is defined by both feet on the ground outside the kitchen and balance and momentum is neutral or moving away from the kitchen.
If you can get crowds, sponsors, and players to play in any sport (including water balloons), and the players can make a living, then playing is their profession and hence, a professional sport.
Don’t understand how it can be a violation. Ball hit out of bounds BEFORE the paddle hit the no volley zone. Once ball is out of bounds, ball is dead right?
I agree but for different reasons. If your momentum carries you into the kitchen after your shot, you lose even if the ball was dead. In this instance, the momentum of the shot had finished.
There is no time limit for a NVZ violation when you haven't established momentum. It wouldn't matter how long it has been. However, once you reestablish momentum, you can re-enter the NVZ. I think a case could have been made that Riley reestablished momentum before his paddle fell into the kitchen. While his initial swing broke the paddle, it didn't separate from the handle until after he reestablished momentum and he was lifting up the paddle to look at it.
Kind of sad that you picked the thumbnail to be of a random unrelated girl at a random spot, just to get clicks. Also shame on you for artificially keeping extra footage to make this go just beyond the 8-min mark for midrolls, could have cut out plenty of this especially with the ALW deflate ball challenge
So dumb. Thats Hannah Johns. Ben Johns sister. Who was the 4th employee of the PPA. Also TH-cam just picked the thumbnails I haven't got them made yet. Please don't watch any videos that I put up. You are so bad for the community.
lol not only does Hanna johns interview players at ppa and mlp events, but her brothers (Ben and Colin) are featured in this video. She was literally on the sideline for the streaker. This fact check brought to you by less angry, knowledgeable people😂
Doesn't matter that the return was out of bounds. It's a momentum fault, and momentum still applies even after the ball is dead. The paddle broke and fell in as a result of Newman's volley, thus the volley was illegal. The rules say a volley act is the contact, the follow through, and the momentum, so he was technically still in the act of volleying.
Referees are dangerous when they need attention
Yup!

I'm confused, how is it a violation in any way even if he went in the kitchen? He wasn't volleying at the time of being in the kitchen? I'm confused

Pickleball equipment is poorly made.
Carbon fiber and titanium are crap.

on kitchen violation at :13... is not the point *finished* at :12 when the ball touches the ground, out of bounds?
