Thanks brother!! Ugh I forgot your first name bro. Sorry. You watch all the time and I know you told me. Not only am I getting blind, I can’t remember anything either! Fricking old age I guess! Ha ha
I'd have to see some cooks on this bad boy before I make a decision. On a side note, I was a a little confused after watching another video on this griddle, not anymore! Thanks-
Thanks Rus!!! Ya they decided to join the griddle race and for their first attempt I think Traeger did a pretty good job! Thanks for watching brother!!!
Price feels high but I admit I’m out of touch on what griddles cost post pandemic. Definitely seems like a nice first offering for what you pay though. This review was fantastic as usual. You are so funny bro!
It might be a tad higher but with that said I am very impressed with the build quality and how even the temps are on this griddle!!! Glad you enjoyed the video brother!! I always appreciate you coming over and watching!!!
I have owned several Blackstone griddles and it looks like I am getting another one so it doesn't matter to me one bit. But I am not a Brand fanboy of any certain bbq equipment manufacture. Thanks for watching!
You are correct!!! I missed that but I didn’t have much time to to mess with it before the release date. I touched the cover of the 9 volt but never noticed it! But I really like this griddle! Thanks for watching!
Ya Frank a little expensive but built very beefy! By far the sturdiest griddle I have had to date. Plus I love the Flame Lock design which delivers really even temps. Good luck on your search brother!!!!! Whatever brand you decide to yet is awesome because having a griddle around is always nice to amplify your backyard BBQ fun! Thanks for watcing!
Love your style! Quality videos every time. Enjoying my ironwood XL Pellet smoker, but just don’t see the value in the griddle at that price point personally. Keep the vids rolling!
First thank you for watching my videos! Second I hope to get an Ironwood XL someday down the road and do a review on it! My Timberline XL is running better, still not perfect but better! I used it this morning to finish off some briskets, ribs and a couple pork butts that once they were ready to wrap I took off my LSG offset and put them in the XL because the chamber is so big it can fit 3 big hotel pans!!! A little sleep is always good when you have to cater a wedding at 11am!!! hahaha Thanks for watching!!
I really like the meter telling for how filled the gas is. I hated running out of gas mid cook. The grease hole and heat from it would be an issue though. Other than that, looks like a great unit. Nice review Ricer!
Ya Troy it is not the worst but it does get hotter over that exhaust. I have already trained myself to work around it!!! Like always bro I appreciate you watching!!!
Great review Ricer. This unit looks well thought out and put together. Interesting features. But that's a bit to rich for my pocket for what they have. But still nice unit. Have a great day 🌞.
Ya Victor this a very nice griddle but i will say it is built pretty solid and feels sturdy. I have had other griddles that just feel flimsy! Like always thanks for watching brother!
liked your review of the flat rock. thanks. Have you ever discussed how the flat rock use compliments the use of your pellet grill. would really like to hear from you thanks
I have only had it since this past Monday afternoon and since I filmed the video I used it once to cook up a different rice meal. Where I can see how it would work in combination with a pellet grill is for searing a smoked steak. I would also use our leftover smoked meats and whip out some tacos on it. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching John!
You are a 100% correct Jacob! If I would have more than 14 hours to mess with this griddle I would have caught that but oh well now I have made 2 mistakes!!!! hahahaha Thanks for watching!!!!
What about if you don’t have an LP tank which I don’t? I have 100 pound tank on the first floor and I have a quick disconnect hose. What do you do then about that curing that wouldn’t work for that kind of deal like I said I have 100 pound propane tank on the first floor and a barbecue box with a quick disconnect hose to attach to my griddle that won’t tell me anything about propane
Curious how this compares to another similiar burner type gas grill, like the Everdure, with just flat tops on instead of the grated grill. Surely traeger release a grated grill version
Ah I am not sure Traeger will make a flat top grill. If they put a grate on top of this you would have a nightmare when it came to cleaning it up. This is only made to be a griddle. Thanks for watching!
You only have to do this the first time when you get it to season it up. After that the only time I do this is when I clean it up with warm water after 4 or 5 cooks. I like to add another coat of oil and burn it off to keep that seasoning nice still. Prep time is minimal, just depends on how hot you are cooking at on how long you wait. maybe 15 minutes or so to get it up to 600°. Thanks for watching!
Hahahahah thanks Rich!!!! This burger was smashed!!! But remember it wasn't a smash burger to all the griddle heads out there!!! hahaha Thanks for watching brother!
That Traeger FlatRock does have some nice added features. But why did they put the grease drain in the front? Especially if heat is escaping through it. I'm sure it puts out some heat. I'm sure Traeger Nation will love it. Great review, Ricer!👍
Good question! Grease drain is in front for easy access to change. It’s also easier from a griddle cleaning perspective. There is no heat loss issue (this baby gets a stays hot!)
@jeremyandrus7300 I totally understand the ease of it. However, if your grill is at 500 degrees, and the sides and front are enclosed, isn't there 500 degrees coming up out of that whole where your wrist could get a blast of heat if you cross over it while cooking? I think it might have happened, and why Ricer mentioned it?
Hahahahah ya Brian I told him dude I am putting that in the video-----he said "ya so, you are going to be in it too" hahahah Like father like son!!!! hahaha Thanks for watching brother!!
I haven't thought much about griddles, but this looks quite interesting. Great job. Would love to see you do a side by side comparison between Traeger Timberline, Lonestar Grillz 36x20 and a Yoder YS640.
This is such an easy question I don't even have to make a video on this!!! hahaha Hands down the LSG pellet is still the best I have ran to date and I own 2 out of the 3 but 2 of my really good friends own the YS640. 1 of them has already replaced his Yoder and the other one is talking about hauling his up north to his cabin and at home getting the LSG 42x20. The Traeger is a nice pit but it will end up being a recycled beer cans in the future. Plus the LSG is built with heavier steel than the Yoder and Traeger combined. Thanks for watching!!
Even temperature cooking across the griddle. Recovers temperature quickly after putting on cold food (such as frozen hash downs). Flame doesn’t blow out in wind as the griddle is reassessed. Heat doesn’t escape and melt items (food, squeeze bottles, etc) places in shelves. All key to a good griddle cooking experience!
Wait the one and only Jeremy Andrus!?!? I agree bro, I have never ran a griddle that is so consistent from side to side!! Thanks for coming over and watching my video brother!
@@jeremyandrus7300 easily solved with $35 side shields. But I do agree about those burners looking more effective, for sure. It’s all about the heat. But is that worth the extra $500
My wife just got me a blackstone for my birthday and I got to say I’ve been loving it, but don’t have anything to compare it too. Competition is always good and have always been a Weber grill guy, but their version griddle seemed a little wonky from videos I watched with the thin top. This thing looks really sturdy! But wouldn’t be a traeger unless you had to plug it in lol
Ugh....the fact that I've got to plug it in to use the igniter is a killer for me. Don't want to have to run a cord to light my grill unfortunately. Hopefully they offer a batt operated igniter in the future.
Wow that is super cool. I didn't even know they made a grill like that. The packaging is great and those wheels are awesome especially with the locking mechanism. Like the tank reader for calibration too. Like that there is no blowout on your flame on this. 5 times oil the coat for seasoning thats awesome. Nothing should ever stick to that. The even temp across is really great. Lol about the fried rice. The rice looked really good and that it doesn't stick to the grill pan is amazing. The 5th coat for seasoning really counts there... like the side tables too. Thats really cool that they sent utensils and accessories like that. Looks like a nice unit. Great video buddy. Love the music. Cheers
Wow I agree with everything you wrote, especially the music part!!!!! This is Traeger's first griddle and IMO they did a great job on it for sure!!! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Judy!!!!
Great review Ricer!! I think they should have made a rechargeable battery pack on it for that price👌 don't be forgetting those glasses on the next build, eyes are getting old lol..appreciate ya sharing with us, have a great one brother, you all stay safe!👍👊🍻
Hahahah ya I use that "I didn't have my glasses on" a lot these days!!!! ha ha After further review there is a spot for a 9 volt battery. I only had 4ish hours on this griddle when I did the review and missed that during the assembly! Thanks for watching brother and I hope all is good!!!!!
You're definitely paying for the name. I'm very happy with my 4 burner pit boss griddle for $300 less, and don't need to add to the electricity bill. I hope traeger figures out they're losing money with these mark ups just like those Ford dealers who went crazy after the lightning came out.
Well there are many griddle from other brands that cost $900 to be honest! Blackstone came out with one that has the wind baffling now too and their model is smaller and costs the same. Plus after I filmed this I found out that the FlatRock can be lit with a 9 volt battery too. Thanks for watching!!
Hahahaha well I would match it up to a similar priced Blackstone if I end up doing a comparison video on it! I do like this griddle though! Thanks for watching!
You mentioned the wind blowout issue, but I ran into more of a heat exhaust issue with the early griddles. You couldn’t put anything on the shelves because the heat coming off the sides destroyed anything to close to the grill. Looks like Traeger fixed that issue with their first model.
If that's all the 110v power does is run a gauge and fire up the burners, Your favorite cordless tool brand probably makes a battery powered inverter like the Milwaukee "Top Off". No need to run power for just that. Plus, those inverters can make a 110V LED drop light portable for those that grill past dark.
2023 is the year of the flat top with Weber and Traeger getting into the category. I'm going to be interested in seeing if $900 more premium flat top worth it. One thing about Blackstone is their flat tops are super affordable, you feel like your getting a lot more than what they are charging with a Blackstone.
Nicely done review, but I feel Traeger is getting really greedy with their pricing. For $200 more you can get the Grilla Grills Primate which is a four burner gas grill AND griddle. Stainless cabinet body. No comparison in terms of value.
There is a lot more to this griddle than others that I have owned in the past. It is a little expensive but this is by far the most solidly built griddle I have owned to date. Traeger's name and brand sells though. I have always felt they are a tad high but I have always had good luck with their products. Thanks for watching and I appreciate you being a sub for a year now!!!
Never and I mean never say that I am sponsored by Traeger!!!! I am sponsored by Traeger, Camp Chef, Lone Star Grillz, Pit Boss, Z Grills, Monument Grills, SnS Grills, Weber, Dahlstrong Knives, SuckleBusters, PS Seasoning, GrillGrates, Männkitchen, Ooni, Fogo Charcoal, Lumberjack Pellets, and Kuma Knives just to say a few. Stop trying to sell me short Antonio!!!!!!!!!!
With tax and shipping $1K. I've cooked many times on a griddle. With the grease drain in the front you will be losing all kinds of food in that thing. It would be hard to do a large stir fry on that, mine usually covers the entire griddle. Plus the need to plug it in, it's not a very flexible griddle.
The drain in the front is kind of a set back but I only had a total of 4 hours on this griddle and I didn't notice that it can lit off a 9 volt battery. Thanks for watching Darin!
Nice review, Ricer. Looks like a decent griddle. I'm still on the fence over griddles. I have cast iron griddles, and dozens of cast iron cooking implements. As well as dozens of heat sources so not sure it is something I would use that regularly. Especially with my 4 burner outdoor gas stove and 2 burner high output gas stove.
Ya Cris if you got other sources it is hard to justify buying a griddle. The nice for us is we can cook a whole breakfast on one and not have to deal with as many dishes afterwards!!! Ha ha Thanks for watching brother!!!
Looks like Traeger has outdone the competition on this one Jeff. That MSRP is a slap....but hell, everything seems to be that way anymore. You are the King of reviews! Did the Top Hat come with it too?? Cheers Bud!
How did this comment just show up now???? Thanks for watching Rob!!! Ya this flattop is on the higher side but I am very happy with the build quality!!! Thanks for watching 2 months ago!!! hahahaha
Nicely done, Ricer! I didn’t even know they made one, but it looks pretty cool. There are some thoughtful features also. I know from experience that even having your hands over the top alone for extended periods of time (like smashing a bunch of burgers for example) can be HOT 🥵 on your arms lol. With that opening, let’s just say I hope people don’t value their arm hair lol. Other than that it looks pretty nice. Great video, great presentation. Cheers 🍻
YA Mike that is really the only knock that I have on this griddle. But I am used to it now and I guess I am working around it. I really wish I had this griddle when I lived on the farm because it was always so dang windy there so I didn't use my griddle a lot back then!!! Thanks for watching bro!!!!
"What are having for F'n supper?"🤣🤣 My youngest (14) hasn't gotten brave enough yet to throw out that one around me, but he does does use words it rhymes with. 🤣🤣 Hoping for a chicken and rice video since I just got a griddle. Nice review as always, Ricer.
Hahahaha ya they don't say it like that but they are always asking and I say go look in the fridge I have been cooking all week ya morons!!! hahahaha Ya I might do a couple cook videos on the FlatRock!!! Chicken and Rice is super easy!! Thanks for watching Mark!!!
Ya I had the griddle for a total of 4 hours when I filmed the actual talking head part of the review. I missed that 9 volt. I did see the cover but never looked at it. Thanks for watching!
THOSE AREN'T SMASH BURGERS!!! 😉😆 Haa! Only kidding. Nice review of the product. Thanks for sharing that with us. How do you feel about the sides/edges of the flattop in terms of their height? They look like they might be kinda short for using to pick up food with your spatulas.
Hahahah darn troll!!! hahaha jk!!! For me personally the sides are fine but good point!! So maybe they could be a tad taller. I do like the handles in the griddle though! Like I said in the video I am not a huge griddle cook but we always have one around for cooking breakfast and burgers! This is by far the most sturdiest flattop I have owned other than my Lone Star Grillz Santa Maria but that pit is in a category of its own!!! hahaha I have used the Traeger FlatRock around 12 times and I have enjoyed cooking on it. I am now programed to cook more on the right and use the left for lower temps or just keeping things warm. I still wish the grease drain was more in the corner though. Some people think this flattop is expensive but IMO for the build quality and knowing that Traeger will have this griddle in their line up for at least a decade!! I think it is priced right, especially when I see that Blackstone has models that have the wind guard for the same exact price. Thanks for watching!!!
Ha ha ya it is maybe a tad pricy but it is beefy bro! Very impressed with how sturdy it is and how nice it holds temps!! My guess they will make another one too. Maybe a smaller version?!?!
I am always truthful in every video I make, I have zero loyalties to any brand. Because of the Flame Lock design and the build quality I really don't think it is that overpriced, maybe a tad. This is the sturdiest built griddle I have had to date but it isn't heavy, just solid. I also never owned a griddle that was sooooo evenly temped across the whole griddle too. The only thing I wish was a little different is the location of the grease drain. Either in the corner more or in the back corner would be even better. Thanks for watching Richard!
Just take more of my money Traeger! This is exactly what I’m missing with my Timberline. Searing capabilities or quickly cooking burgers, hot dogs, etc. additionally, my old Webber needs retired!
You are correct. I had this griddle in my possession for 6 hours total when I started filming and had only day in a half to post the video to make Traeger's announcement date. Just didn't see it when we put it together! Thanks for watching!
Completely understand brother! The chamber is pretty impressive and beefy that just feels really solid. I really like the flame lock design. That comes from my days on the farm where I had to deal with a lot of wind. But anyways thanks for watching!!
Ya I know! Blackstone just came out with a 36" with the flame guard and that retails for $1,199.00 on sale right now for $1,099.00. Pretty crazy hey!! Thanks for watching!
They screwed up on the shelves. They look crooked. Just like the new timberline, crooked shelves. I’m just disappointed, these were on my list until now.
Nah they can be adjusted to sit straighter. I had 36 hours to film and edit this video. So the last thing I was worried about that one shelf hung a little lower. Plus I have a pitch on my garage floor so that doesn't help. These side shelves are better than the other griddles I have had. Thanks for watching!
Traeger. absolutely the worst grill I've ever owned . NEVER worked from day 1 . 5 year warranty ? A joke , it's a self service warranty . Basically you call them a week later a rep explains to you how YOU HAVE TO FIX their non working grill . Takes weeks to get parts and even longer to get someone who can help you. They have service techs who have ZERO obligation to come and repair your grill if it goes bad. AMAZING RIP OFF . STAY AWAY .....
@@gsixzero ya crazy and Blackstone just came out with a 36” that has a flame guard and it goes for $1,199 but on sale for $1,099. So only $200 more than the Traeger. Thanks for watching.
Hahahaha soooo true Nick!!! I got 6 total hours of sleep in 2 days just so I could get the video done and make the release date. Ugh Ha ha thanks for watching!

Need a comparison video with Blackstone, asap
Hahahaha well I would match it up to a similar priced Blackstone if I end up doing a comparison video on it! I do like this griddle though! Thanks for watching!
You mentioned the wind blowout issue, but I ran into more of a heat exhaust issue with the early griddles. You couldn’t put anything on the shelves because the heat coming off the sides destroyed anything to close to the grill. Looks like Traeger fixed that issue with their first model.
Sooooooo true!! I melted so many squeeze bottles because I wasn't paying attention when I put it on the shelf!! Thanks for watching!!
There is some truth to this certainly but I will say that the Traeger feels very sturdy!! Thanks for watching!!

Stop trying to sell me short Antonio!!!!!!!!!!
wish it came as a Built-In model.. electric ideally.. same goes for the Ironwood Smoker..
Sweet grill , you don't need that much oil to season, though. It's steel it doesn't absorb , it's just filling the imperfections in the metal.
Ya it bakes on but I like to get mine nice and black before I start cooking with it. I just have better luck. Thanks for watching!
Is it made in the US?
I am pretty sure it is NOT made in the USA. Thanks for watching!
@ 00:47 "has comed in perfectly" Do what?
Hahahha finally someone caught that misspoke!! Thanks for watching!
I don’t think you need it plugged in to operate the igniter, just the tank gauge.
You are correct! It can be fired up off a 9 volt battery!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching 2 months ago!!! hahahaha
Nice review, but how much room do I need to place this on? It seems like a huge foot print.
ya it is a bigger than a lot of them. You need at least 74"x25" with the shelves folded out. Thanks for watching!!!
Can this be converted to natural gas??
My guess they will have an accessory to be able to do that eventually!!! Thanks for watching!
Very sexy looking griddle, with some great features👍😊
Heck ya Bobbi!!! I really enjoy cooking on this griddle and it is built pretty beefy!! Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great week!!
Looks like a nice flat top!
Heck ya Pops!!! Very nice griddle! Like always bro, thanks for watching!!
Did you see the Webber griddle?????
Ya but to me it looks like they stole a rejected design from a 2015 Blackstone. hahaha flimsy at best IMO. Thanks for watching Izzy!!
You did not mention in your review how the Flat-rock also can be ignited with a 9v battery. Otherwise good review
Looks really nice but seems a bit pricey!!! Reminds me of the easy BO
Ha ha ya it is maybe a tad pricy but it is beefy bro! Very impressed with how sturdy it is and how nice it holds temps!! My guess they will make another one too. Maybe a smaller version?!?!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Nice!
It's badass
I agree! Pretty nice griddle for their first attempt! Very impressed how even the temps were across the whole griddle! Thanks for watching!
" TROLLS" I Love It
Hahahahah ya I had to remind some of these people that it is better to just not comment sometimes!!!! hahahah Thanks for watching brother!!!
Pretty standard. Welcome to 2018, Traeger.
Do you think it’s overpriced?? Please be truthful!!
Alright how many forts have you made and blamed on the kids? I’m not throwing shade I’ve been caught a few time trying to make an epic fort.
Hahaha soooo true Scott! I always say well might as well put something else together!! Ha ha
Just take more of my money Traeger! This is exactly what I’m missing with my Timberline. Searing capabilities or quickly cooking burgers, hot dogs, etc. additionally, my old Webber needs retired!
I agree Matthew that it will look really nice sitting next to your Timberline!! Thanks for watching!!!
I rewrote Hansel & Gretel but changed the oven to a flattop.
The title is now Hansel & Griddle.
Hahahaha!!! I like that Title Jon and I am sure we will see an Instagram post about it real soon!!! Thanks for watching brother!!!!
Already told the wife we need to make more space on the deck.
Heck ya!!!! It is a really nice griddle! I love the huge side shelf’s!! Thanks for watching!!
It’s a nice looking rig. But $800 is ridiculous for a griddle. I’ll stick with the Flat Iron!
Completely understand! But you are right, it is a very nice griddle. Thanks for watching!
Good video except the fact that you don't have to plug it in to operate it... that is extremely misleading.
Besides that, all good. You can battery operate it for the igniter and gas fullness meter if you'd like.
You are correct. I had this griddle in my possession for 6 hours total when I started filming and had only day in a half to post the video to make Traeger's announcement date. Just didn't see it when we put it together! Thanks for watching!
I dunno is double the price is worth a few luxuries, but maybe someday.
Completely understand brother! The chamber is pretty impressive and beefy that just feels really solid. I really like the flame lock design. That comes from my days on the farm where I had to deal with a lot of wind. But anyways thanks for watching!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ it's looks fantastic, and the features are great.
That $900 price tag is wild. But then again that’s typical traeger, charge twice as much as others and be half the size lol
Ya you can't buy Traeger at Walmart. Thanks for watching!
I knew it
You were correct brother! Thanks for watching brother!!
I’ll keep my Blackstone that cost $600 less
Sounds good but Traeger doesn't care, they will sell 1,000's of these.
Nice griddle but wayyyy too expensive.
$900 bucks. Crap!,,,
Ya it is a little pricy but still a very nice griddle! Thanks for watching!
Traeger. absolutely the worst grill I've ever owned . NEVER worked from day 1 .
5 year warranty ? A joke , it's a self service warranty . Basically you call them a week later a rep
explains to you how YOU HAVE TO FIX their non working grill . Takes weeks to get parts and even longer to get someone
who can help you. They have service techs who have ZERO obligation to come and repair your grill if it goes bad.
AMAZING RIP OFF . STAY AWAY .....
Sorry to hear about your issues but I'm still really happy with mine.
Lord Jesus! $800!
Over hyped and wayyyyyyyyyyy over priced.
Thanks for watching!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ You know they're right and at least they're honest.
@@gsixzero ya crazy and Blackstone just came out with a 36” that has a flame guard and it goes for $1,199 but on sale for $1,099. So only $200 more than the Traeger. Thanks for watching.
Price is ridiculous. I won't be buying one.
Ya and honestly Traeger doesn't care because they will still sell plenty of them. Thanks for watching!
typical fedex.
Hahahaha soooo true Nick!!! I got 6 total hours of sleep in 2 days just so I could get the video done and make the release date. Ugh Ha ha thanks for watching!
