The highest I have hiked was on Mt Shasta, to about 12,000 feet. I was trying to reach the base of the glacier, which was much lower at that time. Once I got to about 12k though it got to the point that I could only take a few steps before my vision would start to close in. Had to turn back. This was just a day trip up from Redding with absolutely no acclimatization. One thing that I remember was that there were springs everywhere with the most fantastic, Ice cold water.
@livesutton ok. It must be an amazing feeling to go there and trek in the shadow of the most iconic mountain on the planet. I will never be able to go there myself, but I've read many books on the subject. It's fascinating. Again, thanks for sharing the awesome videos. So great to see the little extra details that you normally wouldn't see anywhere else.
Why did you go up via Tengboche when there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley? The Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail offers vastly better views, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Tengboche can be visited on the way down.
Can’t believe that Harvey can run at those altitudes. Love that you are sharing your family memories

Spectacular. Beautiful scenery. Nice summit of a Himalayan peak. Have either one of your guides ever submitted Everest?
Neither guides have. I don't think they plan on it either. :)

Love your great adventures! I am curious though... Is Harvey going to be the youngest American to do the Mount Everest Base Camp trek?
We don't know, but probably not. Either way, it was a great trip.
