- Racing the Gobi March in Mongolia was one of the toughest physical challenges I've ever taken on. See how it turned out, and whether I managed to achieve the place on the podium that I had dreamt of.
Thank you to the Racing the Planet team for putting on such an incredible event, and capturing it on video - I couldn't have made this film without their help. Mary, Andrei, Onni - you guys rock. A massive thank you to all the volunteers and organizers who came together to make this race possible. And of course, CONGRATS to every single person who ran the race. It was such a pleasure meeting you all.
Here is Racing the Planet's website, where you can see some of the inspiring races they organize around the globe: racingtheplane...

Eva, the ability to run a marathon like this is beyond my understanding. I am constantly amazed by your commitment, determination, and stamina. This is an accomplishment that you will take with you for the rest of your life, and it will inform many of your choices in the future. Well done, and Congratulations on placing in the women's segment!
I really appreciate all your continued support, George. But I really do think that most people could run this race with adequate training! The world belongs to the brave
enjoyed the video and your determation... but why do you do this to your body.. life is so short
Congratulations Eva ❤💪
@@218driver Your body is more capable than you think :) Give it a chance!
@@evazubeck bravery isn’t an issue with me, or it maybe more stupidity. Stamina, endurance and fitness is key for that. Well done you!!
Every time I watch someone train and will though an insane challenge like this, it reminds me of Slavomir Rawicz and his fellow prisoners who traveled 6,437km on FOOT from Siberia to India with no gear to escape the prison camps. Anything is possible with the correct mindset. Humans are amazing. You, the person reading this, you are amazing.
For me it reminds me to not do something like this. They end up basically hating life by the end. For what? To say they did it? Congratulations, you took something enjoyable and made it miserable because you wanted to say you went X miles, some really long number.
Wow.. unbelievable.. under a 14 minute mile with a heavy pack, crazy terrain and high heat. A new level of respect and motivation.
not all at once.. it is supported and across 7 days
I saw the documentary about a guy who found a little dog during the ultramarathon and I immediately thought of you. Her name is Gobi and she now lives in Scotland.Finding Gobi is the book. You are incredible!!!!!!❤
One thing I love and appreciate about Eva is her raw approach to every situation. How she balances work(filming) and fully experiencing every moment of her adventures, that's very inspiring. All the love from Botswana🇧🇼
Congratulations Eva!!!! What an awesome achievement, Thank you for taking us along with you.
Thank you! Always a privilege to be able to share these stories with you guys!
@@evazubeck Hi EzB, Have you seen this recent YT video called "The Terrifying Last Minutes of 21 Ultramarathon Runners". Please stay safe on your adventures, especially the ultramarathons. Best wishes always.
Eva, you crushed it. I ❤your emotions as you go from stage to stage.
Thank you
Congratulations Eva! I’m living this adventure vicariously through you! I was a runner for most of my life, and here I am at 60 years old, waiting for a knee replacement, almost immobile. But it’s the strength that I learned from running (tears and pushing myself) that’s getting me through this low point in my life!
Rarely watch your videos -- life is always busy -- but when I do take the time I've enjoyed them all.
155 miles across the Mongolian tundra...the camera captures moments...and imagination fills in the blanks.
You can never show it all and some of the hardest times are the ones unwitnessed.
From a stranger, thanks for the inspiration.
I found a dose of this years ago on the Appalachian Trail -- US east coast hiking trail. Spent four months on trail. Love every root, stone, drop of sweat, tall tree and drop of silence.
Experiences like this are so valuable.
Tapping into the primal to wash away the trappings of today.
Hold on to the feeling.
Keep seeking it out.
Much love and best wishes.
WOW! I’m already hooked just halfway through this video. You’re truly a hidden gem on TH-cam! I love how you tell the story, especially with the prep phase cuts, your natural style, and your captivating presence. Keep it up, Eva!
I was very moved by this video, thank you so much for sharing. I think it struck a chord with what I realized is my own ultra marathon of getting well again through a several year long illness. But, I also realized the hardest part is now behind me. Can't wait for the slice of pizza at the end! Thanks again.
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉 Eva , I run my 5 k this morning in rather hot weather being 70 it is small achievement for me, your an inspiration to so many people, great job, dziękuję , 🙏
Hey man good on ya buddy!
You are Polish.
Keep going. It's a gradual process. I also struggle every time I go running.
I have tremendous respect for you. I used to run 10K's when I was your age, it's difficult to conceive of the mental and physical training and toughness required to complete this ultramarathon. You rock!
Thank you Eva for taking me with you on that journey! It looked amazing! Congrats!
"I just want to get there". That scene broke my heart. Those who have reached their true limits are the only ones who know that state of being. You transcend time and space. You have my eternal respect for this race, and for sharing it.
Eva, WOW!
You are my inspiration ❤️ ✨️
I'm not running ultramarathons.
Living in my van and travelling around Australia is what I do.
I'll never run again, long story, but I have a broken spine. Lucky to be able to stand and mobilise.
Seeing what you do inspires me to get up every day. It takes me about the same amount of time to 'walk' 500 metres as it takes you to run 20 km. But, it doesn't matter. I will never go back into a wheelchair!
Way to go Eva! You ROCK!! So proud of you! Thank you for taking us along on this awesome journey with you. I'm sure Vilk was so excited when you came back home.
You are awesome! My heart was joyfully emotional watching your run in Mongolia. Beautiful! Thanks Eva
Congratulations Eva. You show what enthusiasm, determination and patience can bring the person who is using them and to the others who are appreciated of that. Go on ...
IM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Top 10 overall that’s crazy! One of your best videos and challenges, well done girl ❤
You truly are a “BAD ASS”
Love this. Was an ultra runner and did this sort of thing until a car accident put paid to any running. Ultra running really is a truly amazing test and experience.
I love everything about this episode! Just wow. Massive congrats to all the amazing people who took part in the race 💪
Wow, my highest respect, Eva! Thanks for sharing, also your ups and downs, very authentic. What a performance!
In my 10 years of long distance competitive running I still can’t comprehend your level of athleticism.
I suffer now from chronic lower back pain and a herniated disc. Probably from poor form and/or all those miles clocked on city cement.
I’m mind blown that y’all can carry a backpack like that for such long distances.
You are truly incredible. Well done.
This was really enjoyable to watch. You make it look so easy! Thanks for bringing us along, Eva. 🙏🏽🙇🏽♀️
write to me I'll give you tips to get you out of this chronic LBP cycle you seem to be in!
thanks for watching eva zu beck today you are special to
Pretty exciting. I did mountain hiking with a pack but not running. On one trip in the north Cascade Mountains in Washington, my 16-year old daughter and I went from around 400 feet elevation to 6000 feet. She bought lots of candy for the trip but after a mile of nasty switchbacks, she left her candy until a rock for the return trip. The hardest part of hiking with a pack is that constant pull on the shoulder muscles. I haven't backpacked in 20 years but I can still remember those shoulder muscles that I know you felt on your trip. I was continually adjusting my pack. And when you take off your pack, you feel like you are ready to fall forward. Walking down hill with a pack was hardest and I was always moving fast to get to a place where I could set up camp. Then when you finish, you think, "I never want to do this again," but the next hike seems to appear on your horizon.
Haha yes, the back becomes a kind of dreaded companion... but it carries all of our essentials! And that's something to appreciate :D
Super well done. I tried to find a map of the way you ran but the organizer had not provided one 😕. I saw that the finish was in Karakorum (or how ever you spell it) which is a fantastic place. I am, like you, a great lover of Mongolia and it’s landscape and of course the kind and lovely people. Third place - that is so awsome. I found the list of the results. Some runners did not make it. I hope no one got seriously injured?
@@evazubeck You are quite the athlete, young lady.
Wonderful congratulations , 10th overall wow , I was thinking It might get very cold at night
@@alanwetherelt7155 She's tough. She won't have trouble.
So proud of you Eva! Running with you spiritually and powering you on. You are doing GREAT!
Wow, just wow, I'm looking at impressed in the rear view mirror!!! You never seem happier than when you're running. A magical journey through Mongolia for an incredible person.
You inspire me, you have always inspired me. I am running my first ultra in October...50k, it's a start. And who knows where this will take me. Thank you for everything you post and how real you are.. lifelong follower here. I even had to snag some songs off your running play list from spotify, if you know, you know.
What an epic and inspirational video. Glad i found it! My family and i do the Bataan Memorial marathon ruckmarch every year, but this is a whole new gear and i really appreciate you taking us along for the ride. Well done!
How Eva can run a marathon and film at the same time is amazing.
Where there's a will, there's a way and she has both.
Exactly mu thinking how is this possible lol😅
I know she had help from a filming assistant. We can tell when she is not filming herself. I think she did about 50% of the filming herself. Of course there would be stock footage available to everyone.
@robertgrey5993 yes but still amazing 👏
Just astounding. Thank you for the inspiration ❤😊
This was one of the most motivating videos I’ve ever seen from you and on TH-cam. Seeing you cry truly gave me more perspective and I’m just in awe that you did that. I’m still trying to wrap my head around humans running that far 😧. We as humans are honestly extraordinary that fact we can push ourselves to do these things it’s incredibly.
Through a 155 miles of uphill, downhill, and endless desert of Gobi...you just proved to the world that being in the top 3 positions, you are one to beat in ULTRA MARATHON, WOMEN category. But above all, It's more than that. It's how you made it to the end of it that really matter! I soooo admire your resilience, EVA! Keep going!!!MABUHAY from the Philippines!
Thanks for sharing! I did this same format race in the Sahara 12 years ago, and its still one of my favorite memories!
You are the best Eva! I am so cheering up for you. Thanks for taking us with you. I am gonna show it to my friends of how brave you are. Congratulations!
What more can I say? On the verge of crying every single minute of this video. You are just awesome, Eva. Not only the race was awesome, the story telling was so inspiring!!
I can’t even understand how you’re able to do this. Looking at the situation of that makeshift bathroom alone would make me quit already. Great achievement, Eva! You are one of a kind.
What a fantastic achievement Eva. Awesome and a great video while doing it. Well done.
Thanks Brian!
My greatest congratulations Eva! I am in awe. Thank you for sharing this amazing, brave, inspiring journey in this amazing country.
I loved it when you talked about why people run marathons, how they want to "tap into something primal and raw". It really resonated with me.
I also loved how you show everything you pack, though I would have chosen a small toothbrush over a comb! 😂
Well done Eva! I have watched you for years and I am kin awe of the adventures you have pursued and the amazing human you have become. Keep on running girl!
Thank you for representing Idaho on your hat. You said it was kind of like life. It’s exactly like life. I worked outdoors my whole life in some of the most brutal country in the southwest USA.I suffered two heart attack, kidney cancer, and wiped myself out in the coal mine. I have paralysis now and can no longer work. I had to push myself every single day. I had to get through the day in those tough environments. Now it’s transferred over to me being in a lot of pain and just pushing myself to mow the lawn. Sounds kind of silly, but God prepared me for these hard times. young kids can cut the lawn and not even break a sweat. I’m in so much pain I have tears but because of life that God gave me I know how to push myself just like you. Thank you for sharing this run.
Well done Eva. What a fantastic result. You are an inspiration to others including me. Thank you for taking us along with you on the journy
Coś pięknego oglądać takie materiały na youtube! Podziwiam Cię za odwagę i za siłę którą masz w sobie. Gratulacje !
This was great!!! You are a great inspiration - not only from running but from your lifestyle as well. Continue on having fun and enjoying life! Thank you for sharing!
Amazing storytelling. This marathon is such a great allegory to life itself. Truly inspiring film (and yes, it is a whole film, not just "a video" on yt). Congratulations and thank you
Woohoo! Congratulations, Eva! This is so inspiring. Also, I feel you're back! Your energy is shining through again. Great job.
Eeek, this felt like such a big, once in a lifetime experience!
Congratulations, Eva! Such an accomplishment! You are an inspiration to us all. Can’t wait to see what else is ahead!
Absolutely amazing. I walked a 75k and 55k ultra this year and can't even imagine covering this distance in that heat! LOL'd at you dumping the GoPro at the finish line, I don't think we should be held responsible for our emotions as we cross the line after such a distance! Total total respect! (PS. For comparison, the 75k, over the hilly Lake District in the UK took me 22hours!)
If you don’t mind me asking, how do you find out of these events? :)
Hi Eva, congratulations on finishing the race! I liked how you captured your emotions in this enjoyable and inspirational video. Peace and love :-)
Cudowna podróż, łzy same cisnęły się na oczy. Jesteś wspaniała 😊
You're truly inspiring, Eva.
What an unforgettable life experience.
I actually cry when I saw you cried in the video, it's like I can feel your feelings.
Also, I just came back from Mongolia a month ago.
Sending much love to you, warrior
The spoon sacrificed its handle to help you save weight. 🥳 What a huge effort! Me, I wouldn't last half a day there! 😵💫
Congratulations Eva 🙌🏻 wow!!!! That was super amazing 🤩. So proud of you!!!!!
Oh, Eva! Big congratulations to you!!! What a tremendous accomplishment that speaks to your endurance, passion, and pure grit. I was crying happy tears when you crossed that final finish line!!! You are a true inspiration!!! 💗
Great job Eva, thanks for taking us along! I think we all have challenges we enjoy and some harder than others so well done in your accomplishment!
I am always so impressed by your bravery and determination, and this time even more ! What a remarkable young woman you are, Eva !
Amazing accomplishment 🎉 As a long-distance runner and an avid backpacker, I couldn't imagine combining both into that distance and in that HEAT. Congrats again, and my wife and I are inspired by you.
Did you hear me screaming and clapping and cheering and crying for you as you cross the finish line 🎉🎉🎉🎉 congratulations Eva🎉🎉🎉🎉
This was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. Eva, you are legendary. I hope one day I can come back here and write that I've done a marathon too. Heartiest congratulations and saving your video to watch whenever I feel like requiring inspiration to reach my goals
Amazing video, Eva! People like you are such an inspiration for me. I get SO much energy from your videos! Thank you thank you thank you!

Very proud of you, Eva. Congratulations 🎉 I am writing this from the Orkhon River bank in Selenge province of Mongolia. It is dawning now. I am wild camping and slept in my land cruiser at a random place last night 🌟 you inspire our family

My gosh, I felt the excitement, cried with you, laughed with you, cheered along with you… I feel so much love for you and your journey I was privileged to be a witness of for so many years.
You crushed it. Again. Wonderful…
Holy buckets! I had no idea this was a thing and I checked out their website and saw another race in the Atacama Desert that I would love to do. Thank you for always sharing your adventures and joy!
Eva does it again. You never cease to amaze us with your accomplishments. Congratulations 🎊
We all know that this will most definitely not be your last ultra! The pure happiness you exuded throughout the video shows to us that these events are definitely a part of your “happy place”. You are an inspiration of positivity and motivation, Eva. Chapeau 🎩.
Congratulations Eva!💪💪 What an awesome achievement Girl. I cried a bit at the end. Can't help it😊 Thanks for the epic journey. Greetings from The Netherlands
I love your personality, wit, and human insight. What you said about us searching for feelings is absolutely true. Many memorable events, good and bad, are linked to feelings.
I’ve been watching your channel since the day you came to Mongolia for horse trekking, which I think was 4 years ago. Back then, I felt so sad that you couldn’t finish what you wanted due to falling off the horse, as I remember. Since then, I’ve become a fan of yours, never skipping a single video. And now, 4 years later, seeing you come back to Mongolia to run an ultra marathon and finish what you started makes me feel beyond happy. I am so proud of you, and I am happy that this time Mongolia did not let you down.
So proud of you. You are inspiring. Keep the pace and never say quit! You can do it. We believe in you.😊
Every time you post a video I am totally amazed. Thank you Eva for sharing your experience and reminding us that impossible doesn’t exist… I feel inspired 🙏🏻🤩
Inspired... and then in tears at the end. Oh my gosh, such a wonderful journey. Thank you for sharing it with us. I am just on the start of my running journey, but videos like this make me want to dream big
This I believe is my favorite video of yours! Outstanding story, scenery, drive, and just an over all sense of living! I am so proud of you. Well done!

You are such an inspiration...thank you. "I chose to be here; there's nowhere else I'd rather be." best quote ever in the moment. Love...
Beautifully rugged terrain for a marathon.
That can be a trick of your mind, just mind games that we use on ourselves
Always focus on the beauty of the moment
