The Wings album was definitely when I went full conspiracy theorist. I was seeing symbols and meanings everywhere, making playlists to figure out the sequence of events. I had to stop after the Love Yourself series. No more theories for me 😄
This song is actually based off of Herman Hesse's novel called Demian. It's about good vs evil, losing innocence and falling into temptation (and a bit of psychology) so we ARMYS had to read books to understand what this entire album meant because it's basically like a story which connects all of their songs in that album haha (the album is called Wings). Loved the reaction! 💜💜
I'm in the process of reading that novel. RM's book list is so refined, so in depth. I have 3 of his other books he recommends. The explanation video is great also for those that like to know the history behind BTS's MV.
@@timberslogs9096 don't worry, everybody has been through it , when you know tha everything of bts have a meaning , but you don't know the meaning, sorry for my English 😋

It's interesting that you've heard resemblance of some beats of Blood Sweat & Tears to Ed Sheeran's Shape of you. If in case it wasn't mentioned yet, Ed co-wrote a song for BTS. It's called Make It Right 😄 (And btw had to mention it as well, BS&T was released a year earlier than Shape of You)
This song about losing innocence to evil temptation. When Jin kissed the winged statue, the evil inside him awaken. And his face (persona) cracked to reveal the shadow inside him.
I m currently reading Demian .... The story heavily centers aroud 2 realms - the "good" realms of innocennce, childhood, love...and "bad"realm - temptation, lies and violence.the story is so far about the main character realizing the evil realm inside him, questioning himself , God and the world..but soon realizing he is not evil, nor saint, he is human ...so far the book is about finding yourself in a world where so many people try to define you before you are even born. And the road takes you through both good and the bad realm to find you true self.
I know you’re gonna sit on the symbolism of Blood sweat and tears, but just to get you started: overall it’s a story of temptation and growing out of innocence

I certainly didn’t realize I would become a professional student by becoming an ARMY (the name of BTS’s fandom). But the BU (BTS Universe, story line that winds through their MVs), is compelling. It reminds me of the tv show Lost. Lost had many storylines, theories, and off-air content that made it feel interactive. BTS is doing the same thing here. it really is masterfully done to get people to want to know more, and therefore watch more videos and comsume more content. I love this storyline so muchhhhhh
BTS uses Hermann Hesse's book Demian as inspiration, basically their entire discography uses this story as a concept. The most important thing to keep in mind when interpreting BTS songs is that they cannot be seen as something real that is happening in time, because their concept is too surreal to see it that way. So the way to interpret it is through dreams and there is a reason for this. It turns out that Hermann Hesse was strongly inspired by Car Jung's analytical psychology. Jung's analytical psychology is a school of modern psychotherapy and something that characterizes psychotherapy is the analysis of dreams, which are not literal at all. In this way it is explained that BTS videos when viewed without a specific context and order do not make sense to be able to analyze them.
i feel the need to boost my man and say yoongi is actually playing the piano in that scene, he plays since childhood you should check his mixtape D-2 which he produced mostly by himself. also i feel nobody is telling you how amazing your reactions are i’m always skipping reactors but yours are sooo smooth thank u so much
Well, I know he plays the piano really well. But in this scene he isn't playing. You can notice it watching his hands. While he's "playing", piano keys are not pushed
@@chimchim6197 That's because it's an organ and the action is different. Not sure he is playing that piece (it's a particularly difficult organ piece) but he is playing something. Not sure if he is using the pedals though.
He very well might have written and/or played the organ for the piece they recorded and put in the video even if he isn't accurately pressing the keys in the video. I kind of feel like they wouldn't have shown him playing it if he didn't at least write it
The quote that RM was saying when Jin is letting go of the balloon is, *"He too was a tempter; he, too, was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer wanted to have anything to do."* From the book “Demian” by Herman Hesse. It's about an older man looking and reflecting on his childhood, giving reasons and analysis as to why he acted in certain ways in different situations. Jin letting go of the balloon MIGHT BE symbolic as to him letting go of his innocence and finally succumbing to temptation. That's why you can see him kissing the winged statue in the next scene, which MIGHT be the devil.
Linda This is just my theory. I think Taehyung already gave in to the temptation that’s why he’s represented as “fallen angel”.. meaning, he’s already fallen into the temptations and he was also trying to tempt the other members that’s why he smirked when Jin gave in.
"Oh I get it....I think....yeah... Yeah, I don't get it." You have no idea, buddy. There is a whole connected universe within their latest albums and it's crazy. I love them. (Very similar to TOP in that way but completely different.)
Yeah, when I saw that bit I was like: No, you definitely don’t get it. But that’s ok, you’re in good company, no one gets it the first time with no prior knowledge. Ah, I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! In my opinion, it's one of their best music videos (and songs too, hehe). As far as albums to react to, I'd recommend Tear as it's considered one of their best albums and it explores a lot of different sounds for them... they also have Map of the Soul: 7, which is their latest, but as it references a lot of their older work I'd recommend getting to it later on... oh, and one more thing! I think you'd really benefit from having the lyrics with you when you're watching the music videos because they're hardly ever not connected in some way. Anyways, great video!
Everyone has given great recommendations, but I just want to point out how fantastic your ears are. that ear training is amazing! That is a gift and you sir, are making good use of it!
I love your reactions because you literally pin point and mention things I didn’t even know exist! For example, that the rap line are the main vocals for the verses to build a tension for the chorus (how didn’t I notice before). And the guitar chromatic walk down in the ‘crash’ part - I literally can’t stop hearing it now, but I love it !! 💜
I know that you kinda react to the sound of the music as a producer, but it would be great if you read the lyrics as well. Music videos usually have English captions you can switch on, or if it's too much to keep track of at the same time, you can read translations online. Their lyrivs are sobpoetic and go so deep and the best part about their music. :) And you have no idea how deep their music and mvs are haha
That was great. They do have so much symbolism in their songs and videos that we need to watch multiple times. Their new MV for the song ON is still something I don't completely understand. I enjoy hearing from you why I like the song and what my ears are wanting and how it fits.
I would recommend you to react to "map of the soul: 7" as it's their latest album (came out earlier this year) I think before reacting to it though, you have to research a little bit about what map of the soul is, because it's quite a complex theory. There is this psychologist/philosopher that came up with it, named Carl Jung (student of the famous Freud philosopher). You can do that either beforehand, to get to know the basics or, you can actually combine it with your album reaction as there are explanation videos for the 3 more important parts of it ( Persona, Shadow, Ego). I would recommend the "explained by a Korean" videos (they're in Eng). BTS's albums are NO JOKE. They always have a storyline and they always try to tell/teach you something. This specific album has 20 songs with each member having a solo song and all kinds of combinations of members doing other songs. As a die hard Pink Floyd fan, the concept albums that they do reminded me of PF. Even though the music is obviously very different, there is unbelievable attention to detail, and they also give you the feeling that they don't do music just for the shake of it, but they speak through it. This album is quite special to them as 2020 is their 7 year anniversary (hence the 7 part) and they are 7 of them ( hence 7 solo songs from each one). All of the guys are generally deeply involved into the music making processes (writing lyrics, melodies and even producing - especially the rappers), but this album is actually extra personal and it tells all their stories.
"i just got to make the connection!" that's what they always say. Hook, line and sinker! Good luck dude there's no way getting back up. I hope you enjoy the BTS rabbit hole.
btw, their lyrics play a huge part in the experience of their songs so i'd suggest you turn on the captions when watching their official mvs and also get some lyrics to refer to when you review their album. love your reactions!!
YOU SHOULD DO THEIR ALBUM CALLED "love yourself : tear" . ONE OF MY FAVORITES FOR SURE!!! and also their most recent album called "map of the soul : 7"
wow you broke down the song and explained it so well, its so amazing to understand the science behing making a song. Thank you and keep up the good work 😊
you should definitely check out their full album Wings, Love Yourself: Tear or the latest one Map of The Soul: 7. they have many others but these are just so so so good, their golden albums. i recommend the Love Yourself: Tear for starters
Please react to Black Swan. One of their masterpieces. Lyrics are simply beautiful. There’s also a variety of performances with their choreography that elevates the song even further.
at 10:53 you can see a German text in the back "Man muss noch Chaos in sich haben, um einen tanzenden Stern gebären zu können" which means "One has to have chaos within oneself to be able to birth a dancing star". This is a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche from his book "Thus spoke Zarathustra". It's quite curious that they included this in the video... BTS really have much more philosophical and complex themes than one would expect at first glance.
You sir are actually talented. I've listened to some of your commentating while you comment on the actual act and you have been sport on ....great job.
Definitely gonna add my vote for Love Yourself: Tear as an album to do. It has Singularity which you mentioned liking. The album has some very unique songs and feels like a cohesive album.

As a directioner and an army, this channel is blessing me.

I just love your observations 😂 they explain the things I feel while listening to the song, like the growing tension and the resolution 😆
I suggest their most recent album “Map of the Soul: 7” !
at 10:53 you can see a German text in the back "Man muss noch Chaos in sich haben,
um einen tanzenden Stern gebären zu können" which means "One has to have chaos within oneself to be able to birth a dancing star". This is a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche from his book "Thus spoke Zarathustra". It's quite curious that they included this in the video... BTS really have much more philosophical and complex themes than one would expect at first glance.
heyyyy we need “Kid Krow” by Conan Gray!!!
You sir are actually talented. I've listened to some of your commentating while you comment on the actual act and you have been sport on ....great job.
It's true BTS again lead us to literature era and theories
I absolutely love that you mentioned Queen and MCR. That's exactly what got me into BTS because they're so theatrical but Pop.
I'm still waiting for the reaction of an entire album
Yess plis react to the album Love yourself tear
Yeah me too
Definitely gonna add my vote for Love Yourself: Tear as an album to do. It has Singularity which you mentioned liking. The album has some very unique songs and feels like a cohesive album.
Enjoyed your reaction. Please react to Daechwita by Agust D (Suga's recent solo release) the song and the mv are both amazing. It's also really interesting because he uses traditional Korean instruments.
BTS goes above and beyond for their Army. I feel like all of their content is fantastic!
