Delightful! Where are you located? What gauge track? How/where do you find these engines and cars? Do you mostly build from the ground up or rebuild? Hope you and yours came through 2021 in good shape. God bless you with a happy healthy and wealthy Christmas and New Year!
We are in Boone Iowa, USA. Track gauge is 7 1/2", scale is 1:8. There are several manufacturers of kits and ready to run locomotives and cars. Our group has done many scratch built cars; some kits; and a few ready to run. The three diesels were purchased ready to run. We have also built five steam locomotives with two more on the way. 2021 was a good year for us, we are very cautious old people. Also hope you and yours have a good Christmas, New Years, and 2022.
Problem was that we waited about two weeks before plowing, so water content sunk to rail level. Usually we plow within a day or two of the snow. We have put extra weights in the plow car and sometimes sit on the locomotive for extra weight
@@bobiowahogs9899 Maybe need one of those Jet engines Railroads sometimes use on their rails. Might be to big. But wondering what about something like Propane tank with one of those weed burner things on it. just wondering if that might work.
Four Marine batteries, run time is a full day in summer with about six to eight car train. All depends on weather, usage, loads, but we always get a few days (6 hour days is normal) on a full charge. We have gone all electric heat/AC in the house and have solar panels, so we recharge more often now. Only fossil fuel we use is the coal for the steam locomotives, and diesel in the tractor, everything else is electric.

There is a wooden scraper at the rear of the Cannonball hopper that keeps most of the snow off. Sometimes we have to back up and try again, usually second try and the snow will be gone. Locomotive weighs about 700 pounds and has good weight on the rail.
