@@coquitlam_railfan5686 It confuses me. I thought that if they could push it to the right side, then they should do that instead of pushing it to the middle and to the other track. If they can switch the blades coming back, then why didn't they do that on the first run?
Good question. I wondered about that too. Maybe there is some reason not to pile snow on that side. That side might be the side where passenger platforms tend to be.
Seems to me to be an exercise in futility, if ever I saw one, ploughing the right track only to have the snow cover the left track. If I remember correctly those Jordan's have spreaders on both sides, so why not use the correct spreader for the side you are ploughing on? Nonetheless it's a thankless job, and these guys never get the recognition they deserve, so well done, guys, regardless. Gotta keep the railway moving regardless.
Incredible footage of this operation, that is plowing at its finest! These Jordan spreaders air ran plows are impressive, and those old vintage plows are awesome I think that was a M3H I was hearing on one of them! Excellent job with the video, very cool crew!
I've ran Air Jordan's and the more modern hydraulic Jordans. The air ones are faster as you can adjust the wings on the fly. You do that with the hydraulic one, you're risking bending the ram like a pretzel. BUT they have more reach than the old air ones do. It's a trade off.
@@coquitlam_railfan5686 I have a dumb question, but here it is. Why does the CP use those wedge plows out in front of the Jordans? Our Jordans have the taller noses on them, that you can leave "V"ed or shear to transfer. Plus they are notched to cut below the top of the rail. Not sure what the wedge plows do or are needed for. Appreciate whatever you can pass on.
