@@yrudonking Not true at all. It is unlikely Raymer (and that quickly) will open shove AA, KK, QQ or even JJ. His holdings are more likely QJ or Ax diamond draw. If Matusow is unlucky Raymer has AT. Matusow knew all this, plus his live reads are pretty sound...it is most likely a draw, and while he knows he is not the odds favourite, the above odds 54/46 are good enough to have pot odds. I like how Greg Raymer plays and he deserved the win. But his run the NEXT year was FAR more impressive and he probably would have won if that one hand holds up. People shitting on Matusow but his reads and ability are quite amazing, maybe not by today's standards. And I hope David Williams locked up half his money because he dumped so much in cash games...I really hope he invested half of it...unfortunately I don't believe he did.

He’s not wrong. MM was getting tilted and made a desperate play to snag a bunch of chips. Calling pre-flop is one thing.
But shoving against an over-card and flush draw on the back of a pair of nines isn’t exactly the greatest play, either. It felt like his rhythm and timing were just under duress because he was so anxious to make a stab into Raymer’s stack, and it misfired.
