I am Indian. When we, as kids complained of stomach ache during school and asked for leave, our principal gave us a clove and asked to chew and suck on it slowly instead of allowing us to go home 😂 (poor kids... who made excuses of tummy ache) lot of spices have great medicinal benefits. But they can produce a lot of heat in the body, so make sure you eat cooling foods as well 😊😊😊

@@akg1301 coriander (leaves, seeds, powder, in all forms, good for thyroid as well), mint, cucumber, lemon go well with spices such as ginger, turmeric, cloves, black pepper. You can make tea as well or use a little amount in food.

Always great information Dr. Berg, thank you. I was raised in Somalia, located in East Africa, and have fond memories of my grandmother's unique remedy for treating colds and flu. Whenever I had a congested nose, she would prepare a concoction of boiling water infused with a pinch of cardamom, a generous amount of grated ginger, and cloves, and a stick of cinnamon. She would then have me inhale the aromatic steam, draping a towel over my head to trap the vapors. Afterward, I would drink plenty of this warm, spiced liquid. Optionally, a slice of lime could be added for extra flavor. This traditional treatment always seemed miraculous in alleviating symptoms, and I continue to use it for both myself and my children, finding it remarkably effective.

A BIT OF HISTORY - Clove originate from the Maluku Archipelago in the north of Australia; Maluku, the famous Spice Islands Western European countries were looking for for ages, because Chinese and Arab traders kept the route secret for centuries so they could keep the price up on the European markets. For ages it was called the black Gold
Maluku Spice Islands play an important role in the discovery of the world beginning in the 15th century. The search for the place where cloves originate from lead to the discovery of the rest of te world. Cloves were the reason Spanish and Portugese kings decided to send out their own ships (Columbus, Magelhaes etc.)
Back then there was only Maluku. 'Indonesia' as a 'nation' or as a country did not exist at all. Maluku was colonized first shortly by the Portugese, later by the Dutch (since 1605 till 1949).
After the Dutch colonizer left in 1949 Maluku was attacked, invaded and occupied by the new colonizer, the Javanese, in 1950 after the Second World War until now 2023.
Growing up as a Moluccan we were already aware as kids of the medicinal properties of cloves. Our parents used it when we suffered toothache and other complaints.
For ages coves play also an important part in traditional Moluccan medicine and spiritual healing rites.
    Greetings from Maluku, West Melanesia.

Making clove water is simple and does the job just as well if not better than chewing. Add a quarter of a cup of cloves to 32oz bottle of water. Leave over night. The longer you leave the cloves in water the stronger the taste will be. Use it as a mouth wash and you could take glass shots. If you have congestion/mucus in the lungs and a bad cough taking shots will help you not only with breathing but it'll help remove mucus and allivate/get rid of the cough. You'll also notice improved lower blood pressure. If you have a toothache make a strong---strong clove water-the longer you leave the cloves in water the stronger eugenol. Take a nice sip and swish if around the mouth to numb and eliminate the pain. Hope this helps. It has for me and my mom. ❤

Of Indian heritage here and cloves are always something I remember being added to the curries we ate as kids, as well as a myriad of other spices which I discover later as an adult turn out to be very good for us. I remember in the 1970’s Australia, our primary school nurse giving me clove oil as a kid when I developed a toothache. It works so well at stopping pain.

Be caredul with swallowing cloves if you suffer from Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels). But if you have diabetes, the eugenol in cloves can help lower blood glucose counts to safe levels. Also don't overdo it. Eating or exposure to a large amount can cause tissue injury and a syndrome of acute onset of seizures, damage to the liver and kidneys, and coma. Clove may interfere with the body's ability to clot blood and may increase bleeding risk. For this reason, people taking blood thinners, such as warfarin, should avoid consuming cloves and since they may impact bleeding risk, you should also avoid taking clove supplements prior to surgeries.

My father uses it for the last 70 years and I and my family have been using it for more than 20 years now. After lunch & Dinner we take couple of cloves it really help from tooth decay, improves digestion and clears bad smell. My father also said it will thinner the tongue and allow to speak freely. Clove is an important element of Garam Masala which we Indians use in our daily curries.

After some research, I tried a tbsp of organic and pure blackstrap molasses every day with lemon water and drink thyme tea two to three times a day, I can’t believe all of my symptoms are gone. I am now able to run again without feeling dizzy or out of breath. This is my first month of doing it and I’ll be tested again after three months if my iron has increased. I have for sometime been putting a few cloves into boiled water as a tea infusion. I use them as a way of making the hard water taste better. As a child years ago, any toothache was treated by holding a clove on the tooth while waiting to get to the dentist
