Cloves and other spices(Star Anise, Turmeric, Dry Ginger, Nutmeg,Fenugreek, Cinnamon etc) have been in use for millennials in Siddha and Ayurvedic practises in India. I chew on to a clove everyday mostly in the evening. Also i boil water with couple of star anise and sip on to this water whole day. Keep in mind, Do Not Over Do. Peace
I made capsules from cloves myself and took 1 capsule every day for 5 months, which is equal to 2 cloves. I did not notice that they had any effect on my body and well-being.
Just tried one, hmmm… quite nice, though a little strong, but easy to get used to. The after taste is lovely and it just goes on and on. I’m going to try this for a while, but don’t worry, mum’s the word!
I have to say, Indian cuisine is a marvel. It integrates all the superfoods (cloves, turmeric, garlic, cilantro, ginger, etc.) into easy, repeatable daily recipes all at once. How they figured all this out centuries ago is a mystery.

Clove has great flavor, maybe not straight but in general. Clove oil is decent mosquito repellant but I find the aroma I enjoy for a while becomes slight annoyance after a few hours in on my neck.

Making clove water is simple and does the job just as well if not better than chewing. Add a quarter of a cup of cloves to 32oz bottle of water. Leave over night. The longer you leave the cloves in water the stronger the taste will be. Use it as a mouth wash and you could take glass shots. If you have congestion/mucus in the lungs and a bad cough taking shots will help you not only with breathing but it'll help remove mucus and allivate/get rid of the cough. You'll also notice improved lower blood pressure. If you have a toothache make a strong---strong clove water-the longer you leave the cloves in water the stronger eugenol. Take a nice sip and swish if around the mouth to numb and eliminate the pain. Hope this helps. It has for me and my mom. ❤
Dr Berg, thank you! I started using clove oil a few years ago for toothache. It has since become my go-to remedy for a lot of things. I add a few drops to my shampoo and hairspray. My hair has become thicker. I've mixed it with arnica oil for my aunt and mom to use for arthritic pain and it's worked wonders. Mixed it with peppermint oil as an insect/pest repellent. The list goes on and on.

Of Indian heritage here and cloves are always something I remember being added to the curries we ate as kids, as well as a myriad of other spices which I discover later as an adult turn out to be very good for us. Be caredul with swallowing cloves if you suffer from Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels). But if you have diabetes, the eugenol in cloves can help lower blood glucose counts to safe levels. Also don't overdo it. Eating or exposure to a large amount can cause tissue injury and a syndrome of acute onset of seizures, damage to the liver and kidneys, and coma. Clove may interfere with the body's ability to clot blood and may increase bleeding risk. For this reason, people taking blood thinners, such as warfarin, should avoid consuming cloves and since they may impact bleeding risk, you should also avoid taking clove supplements prior to surgeries.

At primary school in australia near,y 50 years ago we all brought in a large orange and were given whole, cloves to press into the orange skin and then a ribbon attached to a pin or something was used to hang them up to keep in wardrobes to repel bugs and keep clothes fresh and also to make the cupboard smell good

As an Indian, clove is a standard ingredient in many dishes. Many times, We also chew it raw after a meal as a mouth freshener. As a kid, I always hated it when my mom asked me to chew cloves after a meal 😂
How would that freshen your mouth
I chew it, but I don't swallow it?
At this point Dr. Berg is the only reason I watch TH-cam.
I met a very healthy 80+ y/o man. He was on no medications, kept a tin of cloves in his pocket and chewed them daily.
I wonder how many?
Shouldnt chew more than 4 a day.

Jamaicans use cloves in many of their dishes/cuisine, and they put cloves in a wonderful drink named; "Sorrel"!
Dr. Berg is humanitarian awesome!
This information regarding the benefits of cloves is invaluable!
And yet Jamaicans are the most poor and low IQ people on earth.... Hmmmmm.... But they got a bobsled team!
Yes for christmas trinidadians love to drink sorrel. I always sipped it slowly because of the strong flavor. I didnt know it had cloves in it. Thank you for your conment, you learn something everyday 😊

Peace

Cloves are very good for health, but I suggest consuming it as a ground spice. The problem you don’t mention, chewing cloves can rot and often does rot the teeth.

Amazingly, I just bought whole cloves today! Can't wait to go home and chew one!
They're good for you ,and have a really minty aftertaste, probably why it's so kind to the gums & teeth 🪥 .

I remember in the 1970’s Australia, our primary school nurse giving me clove oil as a kid when I developed a toothache. It works so well at stopping pain.
Clove in curry? Ive never had that before, must give it a beautiful aroma and sweet taste. In norway clove is used mostly for christmas foods, both meats and baked goods.

Thanks, definitely useful info!
